Yellow Cab of Victoria

Very rude and combative driver. Tried to take a longer way to my destination for a bigger fare. I caught on and told him to take a more efficient route. Then he became more aggressive and was grumpy for the entire trip. Before I left his cab, I asked him to be professional. It’s a beautiful day in a beautiful city, it’s not my fault his life he’s a cab driver. Go to school if you can’t be a professional driver.

Don’t use this company. Seriously… don’t. They suck.
I got a ride from one of their drivers at the airport back in April. A couple of minutes after the trip started, I noticed him messing around with the meter and then eventually the meter just stopped working.
When I asked him about it he said «This is a flat rate trip.» so I asked him to turn the meter back on so I know that I’m being charged correctly for the ride. He got all rude and offered to just drop me off in a random spot in the dark. I probably should have just taken him up on that offer but I didn’t want to waste a bunch of time, wasn’t familiar with the area, and was carrying a heavy bag. So, midway through the trip, I was forced to negotiate what the «flat rate» charge was going to be.
The place we were going ended up being closed by the time we got there. With a big smile on his face he declared «Ya I knew it was closed. You should have phoned them». Great. Thanks for your advice. By the way, this was at like 8:30pm on a Friday and the destination was a rental car company that had accepted my pickup time when I had booked with them.
I asked him to take me back to the airport and he again refused to use the meter, again suggesting that I walk back in the dark if I don’t like it.
After being charged his inflated rate I took note of his cab number and reported this to the Yellow Cab company. To be fair, the dispatcher seemed genuinely concerned about this but said he couldn’t do anything. He did put me through to the voicemail of that driver’s supervisor. I left a message just asking to be called back, twice repeating my call back number, but I never received a return call or message.
Now I get to waste a bunch of time taking this to consumer protection BC and I feel like a total idiot for using this taxi service.

I have used Yellow Cab’s services two times too many. On both occasions, I utilized them as a way to get home from the laundromat because it started to pour. Both times the drivers dropped me off not in the driveway of my home — one dropped me off two driveways down, and another in the middle of the road. Also in both instances the driver had no idea how to get to my address, and asked ME for directions. I’m fairly new to the city, so I’m not the greatest with the directions yet. Further to that, isn’t it the job of the driver to have (at the very least) a vague idea of where they’re heading? Both instances were extremely frustrating, and I’ll not be using Yellow Cab’s services again.
Save your pennies and call a different cab company.

On more than one occasion I have had my fare jacked up by drivers taking the long way home. I actually had to tell a driver to turn off the meter because he purposely drove 2 blocks passed my house in order to increase the fare. I was also almost run down at a crosswalk pushing a stroller with my kid in it, which I reported to the police. Try another cab company in Victoria if you want fair and safe service.

I left a binder in the taxi but did not remember it until the next day. I was able to contact Yellow Cabs and go to their dispatch office and reclaim it. The staff were very kind and helpful.
