History

Established in 1986.

SpringTide Whale Tours and Charters is a family owned and operated business successfully operating in Victoria, BC for nearly 20 years. SpringTide was established in 1986 and began operations in Victoria in 1994, initially operating as a professional Sport Fishing Company. However, Whale watching became a very popular activity in the early ’90’s. Dan, the owner, with his passion and commitment to wildlife and the environment jumped in with both feet to author wildlife viewing guidelines now used in many countries and organizations. During this time, our custom designed vessels were built and the SpringTide fleet grew to its current 152 passenger capacity. Now, Dan’s wife Joanne and family are actively involved in all aspects of the company’s operations.

Joanne graduated with a B. Comm from UBC, and pursued a sales career in the hi-​tech industry, with her first job being with IBM. Moving to Victoria was the best thing she ever did! The EcoTourism Industry is incredibly fascinating and rewarding ~ and so is working alongside the talented professionals at SpringTide, supporting University CoOp students and collaborating with tour companies from around the world.
