Deco De Mode

I went in yesterday, and luckily I had good company with me to make up for the experience. The other staff seemed fine, but my manicurist was impatient and uncompromising. I brought nothing but a friendly and accommodating attitude to the table when I asked her what she was comfortable doing, and asked if she thought she was comfortable with any of the examples that I showed her on my phone. She kept on trying to push against it saying «it would cost extra» repeatedly. I had also told her that it was my first manicure but she was still extremely rough with my cuticles. My pinky is still bleeding as a result of it. They charged extra for the nail art even though I asked for the simplest thing that she said could complete in time and she did kind of a shoddy job at it. I think in general she was very stressed out, so I tried to be more patient and positive; however, she was taking it out on her interactions with me and the service and I didn’t really think that that was fair. If you decide to go in spite of the Unilocal reviews, make sure you get someone in a good mood, or you’ll bleed for it.

Horrible blotchy tattooed brows I was left with. Awful, I should have left when I was shown pictures of the work. My fault for getting them done here. After waiting 2 months, hoping they would improve. They healed into a big Blu blob.AWFUL. I had to cover them up for the next 2 months. I finally sat down and did some actual research on permanent makeup artists, and ended up driving to Ladysmith to get them fixed to the big natural brows I was looking for. It came at a cost tho. This new artist had to fix them before redoing them. BROW BUYER BEWARE.

Rude, Over-​priced… made you feel like they are doing you a favor as oppossed to the fact you are paying for their services.
Was not a quality Pedi-​Mani… girl seemed as if she were still in school and had no clue what she was doing!
Did not feel their practice of handling their tools and instruments sere very sanitary!
Would not go back!

I have never had the urge to write a review as much as I do now. I went into the salon and I was immediately treated rudely. The lady at the front desk (blond, angry, and miserable looking lady) snapped at me to sit down. I am sitting there, feeling super uncomfortable and unwelcome (not what I am looking for when I am getting my nails done). Anyway, I then get approached by a different lady that asks for my name and time of appointment and my manicurist comes to meet me shortly after. I asked her if she could do an ombré effect to my nails and I clearly asked if there was a price difference. She said no. Manicure is fine, I go to pay and it’s the same miserable lady. She snaps at me that it’ll be 10 dollars extra because it’s a french manicure, to what I tell her that it’s not, it’s clearly ombré and that I was told it would not be extra. She does not say anything and proceeds to charge me the extra 10 dollars. I explain to her, again, that I asked the manicurist and she snaps that the prices are on their pamphlet (yes, of course, I should have gotten up, walked to the other side of the salon to grab a pamphlet, instead of just asking the lady that is right in front of me). My one regret is paying for this ridiculous service; I should have argued longer but I had to get back to work. What I can do now is ensure that nobody goes through the same thing that I did. DO NOT GO INTO THIS SALON. Rest assured that I will be talking to everyone that I know in Victoria about this experience.

Not impressed.
The pedicure was not something worth paying for. Most of the staff were rude and unprofessional. They went so far. making a negative comment on my sister feet! As if it was funny. The products irritated my skin. We were 3 getting a pedicure all at the same time and the woman finished way to early on my sister while my mother and I were still being worked on for another 15 minutes! They spent no time filing our feet and our nails.
They put no effort in making our nails straight and the nail polish was put on sloppy.
Save yourself the experience and give yourself a pedicure or go elsewhere.

Let me preface this review by letting you know that I have been getting a «full face» wax (chin, upper lip and cheeks) for over 15 years. The rule of thumb is that if it is darker hair, remove it, if it fine baby hair that is still «virgin hair» you do not touch it”. that is what I have been told by any and all aestheticians that I have gone to. Next, this review is of my single experience to date at deco de mode.
Ivey was the aesthetician. She did not use a hair band so I asked if she needed me to hold my hair back while she waxed my face and she said no. She started the wax on the right side of my face and then put wax on my right ear (my ear has no hair minus very fine white hair «baby virgin hair» that is not noticeable at all). I asked her why she put wax there and she said that I have fine hair that is not dark and proceeded to wax it off. I nicely told her, not to. She proceeded to do so again. After that, I said «do not wax anything from my ear». She apologized. She then started to do the left side of my face and put wax in my hair (hair attached to my scalp and did not need to be waxed) — remember how I asked her if she needed me to hold my hair at the beginning of the service? Initially I thought that she was going to remove it and after about 2 minutes when she did not, I brought it to her attention and she proceeded to «wax» the wax off with a strip. We all know, you need to put oil on there to remove it, not wax it off.
Needless to say, I will not be going to Ivey again. The only reason why I will go back to the location again is because the other individuals that I did speak to there were quite knowledgeable and courteous. Either way, I will not be going back to Ivey.
I rated it «it’s okay» because I averaged out the terrible service from Ivey with the fantastic service from the front staff who actually knew what they were doing.
Update on day after service — Ivy did rip skin off my chin (left) as today I have a scab that has formed.

Happen to be walking by and loved the look.
Its unfortunate that other reviewers have had a negative experience at this spa.
I went in because they carry Dermalogica skin brand. The sales receptionist was extremely knowledgeable, warm and welcoming.
I booked a microdermabrasion treatment with Luz Angela a week later.
I checked the reviews and was dismayed by all the negative experiences of other clients.
Figuring, hey they don’t want to do harm I kept my appointment.
I arrived 15mins early, the staff was warm and friendly the sales clerk remembered the product I had bought.
I realized the aesthetician had not arrived, I inquired and they informed me she was having some bbsitting issues. They were clear and honest about the delay gave me a realistic eta so I could decide to stay or go. Offered tea. When Luz arrived she was warm, professional and efficient. She also apologized.
I really appreciated that quick knowledge of an error. I found the treatment really great. Luz is highly experienced. Was honest about what the treatment could do, recommended what could be best and also insisted in not giving me any illusions about skin care.
The staff are kind, warm and caring. It was busy and the staff managed to continuously maintain a cheerful attitude.

I also received a personal message on Unilocal from the owner saying that my review will hurt their business. I am sorry but your attitude is hurting your business not my review of how I felt as a customer walking into your establishment.

Went in for pedicures with a friend. Place looks beautiful. Check in at the front desk was nice and everyone is friendly. This is was our first time here (and definitely last). The nail tech didn’t seem like she wanted to be there, seemed like it was her first time giving a pedicure. She barely filed my nails and layered on the nail polish very clumpy. For the price I paid I expected better.

Great color selection. Salon looks spacious and clean. Mani-​pedi looked great while it lasted and the service was very friendly but the polish on my hands only lasted 2 days before chipping! For that reason alone, I can only give 3 stars.

I scheduled my appointment online for 2pm. Nothing on the scheduling page told me when to arrive, so I figured that a little before 2 would be just fine. I caught a cab to my appointment, arrived about 20 minutes early, and decided to walk around a bit to kill some time. I went back into Deco De Mode 15 minutes before my appointment. The woman at the front desk glared at me when I walked in and asked me what I wanted. I told her I had scheduled an appointment online for 2pm. She rudely told me that they had given my appointment away to someone else because they were there 20 minutes before my appointment. Nothing on the website told me that I was supposed to get there 20 minutes before! I took a cab all the way out there just to be told that they had given my appointment away. Awful service, mean people, definitely not coming here again.

I do not recommend this salon for a the gel set. First they messed up our appointment to my friend and I couldnt get our nails done together, I had to wait for her to be done then she had to wait for me. We spent 3 hours in the salon. Second the nails were poorly put on. I used to go there all the time last year and they were excellent. When I came back after about a year, the service and workmanship was terrible. And third they charged my friend and I $ 84 for the service.
I do not recommend this place unless you want to pay way to much for very very poor service.
