As soon as I discovered this place, I fell in love! The decoration of this café reminds me of PDX. As a non-coffee drinker and gluten-free vegan, this place is the only one I can either order just a cup of matcha green tea latte and/or GF, V snacks. I can do either one in other cafes. The only thing is… the wifi. They do have a free wifi. But the connection is really bad. It’s too bad! The reason I go to cafes is to work on my computer. And this place is so perfect for it. Hope their wifi gets better…

The place is located right in chinatown, and the place itself has a very vintage, beach house like feel to it. Their décor includes a boat hanging from ceiling, bicycle on wall, fish pole with wind chime at end of it above the register, and paintings all over the walls where the table and seats are at. The paintings seem to be for sale since they have this price tag right next to every one/set of them. The place seems to be very popular. It was really crowded when I was there, with most people just getting coffee to go. The drinks themselves are very nice and aromatic. The drinks are small, but the price seems fair for a good cup of coffee/tea. The workers are more attentive when it’s less crowded, but that’s to be expected when they are so busy. They are all working hard to get a lovely cup of drink to you as fast as they possibly can. The only negative point is probably the cleanliness of the shop. I mean, I guess it adds to the vintage feel, if that’s how you want to look at it, but there was some broken webs just hanging outside on one of the windows. I also found a small piece of clothing lint stuck on top of cup, but at least it’s not hair.

Cute little shop tucked away in Chinatown with friendly baristas and delicious baked goods. The lemon poppyseed loaf I had was so good, I loved that it wasn’t iced and wasn’t too sweet. Local art on the walls for sale, at the time I was there it was a interesting photographer who’s large prints were under $ 100.00 each, affordable! Fascinating space with many things to look at while you enjoy your drink. I had a chai latte that was perfection.

This coffee. O. M. G! A local in Chinatown recommended it to us… So we stopped by on our way out of town. So glad we did. I had the chai mocha. Never heard of such a thing! Dirty chai yes, but chai MOCHA? I’m obsessed. It was so smooth and creamy, not overly spiced like some chai. Plus, latte art! The wifi was no good, but I’m here for the coffee anyways!

By far my favourite coffee place in Victoria. Such a cozy atmosphere. Great drinks. I especially love their version of a London fog. Delicious.

Worst coffee, mocha, and chai latte I’ve ever had. Three of us went in and ever drink was awful. The black coffee was burnt to the point of despair. The chai tasted of little more than hot water with a dash of stale milk. The mocha was the best of the lot, and even it was shameful. The place has a good atmosphere and friendly service but that can’t make up for the fact that upon leaving(cups unfinished) we immediately started looking for food/drink/anything with flavour, despite the fact that we’d already eaten, purely to get the taste out of our mouths!

Ask for the specialty London Fog Latte. Their are two kinds and the«special one» is out of this world! Everything I have ever tried here has been amazing. Wicked good music and friendly staff.

In a sea of good coffee shops, this one stands out. Excellent coffee, yummy selection of baked goods(try the pumpkin millet muffins or almond croissants) and warm welcoming atmosphere. They have it all here.

I have been to countless coffee shops up and down the west coast of the continent, travelling and living on a tall ship. My quest for the best coffee shop is over. I would live here if I could. Recommended for everyone. Amazing atmosphere, fun staff, great coffee and food. I always get a London fog latte and a peach cherry cornmeal muffin. I think I would fly to the island from northern California just to go there.

The best Americanos. Ever. Excellent service, excellent coffee and a relaxed atmosphere make this my most favourite coffee shop in town. Love the Tuna Diablo sandwich too. «The Bean» is a must when you come to Victoria. Great area to people watch, situated in(arguably) North America’s oldest China Town.

Really good coffee, excellent staff, cozy ambiance. Like frequenting enterprises where the owners are not only working in house but clearly enjoy what they are doing. The staff share their enthusiasm. A popular coffee house for all the right reasons.

Wow amazing pesto grilled cheese! It was so full of flavour, delish! Their chai latte on the other hand was missing flavour. I always feel like I’m intruding café barista’s territory when I make a order but the staff here are friendly and don’t give you the«you’re not hipster/cool enough» look. That leads to my next point: the crowd is easy going as well! It’s a mix of young, old, basically everyone. I’m not a Victoria local but I’d imagine this would be a great place to hang around to do some reading or chit chat with your pals.

I will sum my experiences here in five words: coffee GOOD, chai latte bad. Longer version: very cozy, love the ambiance, always seems busy when I stop by and can be hard to find a seat on the weekends. The baristas know what they’re doing, and I’ve never had a bad coffee, although I did have a really unfortunate flavorless chai latte once. Much more inviting and less hipster-y overall than some of the coffee shops in this part of town. I’m a fan :)

This has been a favourite spot of mine for years. Great, friendly staff. They always have fresh soup and baked goods that make for a nice snack or a good lunch. I have spent many an afternoon working here, for a long time they didn’t have wireless, which was great for when I needed to write papers etc. I am a huge fan of Bean Around the World and their coffee, both to drink in the café but also takin home their beans.
