Wool Is Not Enough

Very fun place for three knitters (and one non-​knitter) from afar. It’s nice to see such enthusiasm for yarn! A tiny but well stocked yarn shop. She was very friendly and helpful.

Tricky review here folks. I’m hesitant to post it, for reasons you’ll understand shortly, but I think it’s necessary.
I’ve visited this store a handful of times over several years and in two locations. Each time I’ve left with a sour taste in my mouth and the resolve never to return. With lots of yarn shops in the city, I know I can enjoy a better experience elsewhere.
If the old location reviews were still active, you’d see what I mean. The owner… She’s a lovely woman and I know she means well… but the attitude of knowing it all, forcefulness and devout faith to all things negative… Ugh. I just can’t do it.
For instance, the last time I was in, I spent 20 minutes listening to stories about how horrible her customers are. Seriously. As a business owner myself for over ten years, I cringed with each tale. When I made a suggestion to perhaps see the situation in a positive light (because I thought the story was an amazing opportunity for her to service a huge part of her customer base), she cut me down immediately. OK, lesson learned.
I was also informed that «busy doesn’t mean making money», and was told just how much more she makes compared to her competitors. Yes, I get it. I spent $ 22 on circulars here for pete’s sake. One pair. No, they weren’t crystal needles blessed by a shaman. (Yes, I’m being sarcastic; I’ve bought the same needles all over the world for much less).
I was also told «there’s no way you’re in my database». Of course, I was. And then, «No one has ever given me a poor review online». Well, I saw tons of poor reviews regarding your prices and attitude from the former location on Unilocal… And I should’ve known better. I just needed needles, I was nearby, and gosh darn it, I thought it would be easy.
I’m aware that I’m putting myself up here for scrutiny, removal from her list, whatever. The thing is, the stuff she was all concerned about when I went in (dust bunnies) was the one thing I couldn’t care less about.
I’ll bet that, with this review, I’ll become the customer she complains about. Sigh. Well, I hope it’s an awesome story, about the horrible meanie that I am. :)

I adore this little shop. Shoshona is always very kind and accommodating. I feel like a valued client and I love shopping there.

My only issue with this store is their odd hours of operation which is why it has taken me a while to get here. I did get some sets that I was pleased with. Decent prices. Good customer service.

Wool is Not Enough now has a location off The Drive. Keep in mind that it’s only open on certain days /​hours. But it does stock things that are different from the Gastown location.
