West Coast Alignment & Frame

My brother recommended this place for their old school but very accurate alignment techniques. They don’t use the typical digital/​laser alignment machines most shops use and you don’t get a printout of your specs either.
I brought both my Miata and Porsche Turbo here for alignments on separate occasions and both times the alignments would be off in a matter of weeks. Both these cars were garage queens seeing less than 3000kms a year.
The next shop I took the Porsche to told me that the car requires an obnoxious amount of torque to maintain the alignment if your car is going to see the racetrack and it was not unlikely that under torquing was the culprit for why it was out of spec.
I would have no problems bringing your typical A-​to-​B car here for your run of the mill alignment and the people here are nice though and I like how they treat their customers, it just isn’t where I’d bring my high performance/​track-​duty cars.
Oh they also ‘Porsche tax’ here but so do a lot of shops around town.

Chris’ shop was my first mechanic shop once I arrived back in Vancouver in 2006. My car had suffered some effects from traveling on the train from Ontario. He was able to get the suspension back to normal, rotate my tires and it felt like I had a new car. My 99 Corolla had a lot of things going on for it. It was a high mileage, Air Care resistant oil guzzling car. After it had been in the shop, it wouldn’t turn over the next day. Chris came to my house (3 blocks away) and sorted it out. It was a simple fix– my battery had corrosion on it– but many would have had me tow it, charge me minimum $ 150, and never tell me how to do it myself. (baking soda & water)
After my car was clearly established as an emission focused problem car, Chris sent me to Art’s. He had no problem with sending me somewhere else, and I felt completely secure going somewhere Chris recommended.
Recently, I purchased a car from a dealership and while driving to Seattle, I found that the car pulled to the left. I was nervous about this– thinking I bought a lemon– but felt that if it could be fixed, Chris would fix it, or he would help me find out how to deal with it.
The situation became quite bad– the car had frame issues, wheel issues and was so bad the MVA to come in and inspect it and it failed. Chris not only found that the car was unsafe, he supported me when I had to confront the dealership. He went above and beyond my car’s needs, he was my advocate. If Vancouver were a small town, Chris (and Art) would be the only guys left who would be trustworthy enough to survive.
While there are not enough raving reviews on here for Westcoast Alignment, you can certainly tell by the lack of complaints, that Chris and his father, Irv, are an honest shop you can trust.

Friendly, helpful, honest and experienced. Price is resonable. While I was waiting for my alignment, a guy with a Ford Taurus got a transmission problem came in asked Chris if he can parked his car in the lot overnight and BCAA will come tow away next day to North Van some other garage. Chris ok it right away. It’s not a big deal but that shows how they treat people and I like it. I will go back again.

West Coast Alignment & Frame was recommended to me when I needed an Out of Province Vehicle Inspection. I spoke with Chris a few times and he was very helpful in explaining to me what my truck will need to have fixed. Another garage was taking care of the repairs but Chris still took the time to fill me in on what will be needed.
One thing that came up was that the tint would have to be taken off the windows — Chris insisted that I could do it myself and that I shouldn’t pay anyone to do it for me. He was right, it didn’t even take me 30 min to get the tint off and he safely stored my truck on his lot until I was able to make it over to get it done.
Once the truck passed inspection, but was still uninsured, they drove me to my next destination which I thought was very considerate.
I definitely recommend West Coast Alignment & Frame as reliable and honest mechanics in Vancouver.
