It was my first time to try this Taiwanese noodle restaurant. My boyfriend and I ordered a couple simple dishes. One was the beef noodle in soup(with tripe, tendon and beef) and one was a bowl of salty pepper chicken noodle in soup. The food tasted okay but nothing surprised and motivated me to come back unfortunately. We could choose thick or thin noodles. Other Taiwanese restaurants offer the same options but others have better ambiance and service or the food tastes better and has better quality.

Best beef noodle soup ever! Get half beef half tendon. It’s amaze! Perfectly cooked. The bbt isn’t bad either. We liked their lychee red tea. Try this place!

I had a chance to visit based on other Unilocal reviews. I tried a noodle dish and a rice dish. The beef noodle soup was in a word, amazing! Very spicy and savoury, the way I like it. And, generous portion of beef brisket. Thick and meaty chunks that have been softened and marinated. You can pay an extra dollar to upgrade to the large size, but I still found it small. But, that’s par for the course. If anyone knows a place that serves American-sized portions of beef noodle soup, please message me. Basically, the beef noodles are the reason to go here. Also had a chance to try their«Ham Hock» on rice. This was total rubbish. According to Wikipedia, a ham hock is the joint between the tibia/fibula and the metatarsals of the foot, where the foot was attached to the hog’s leg: What they served here were pigs feet, plain and simple. I was eating the pig’s hooves, for crying out loud. Do you know what pigs trample on all day long? They tasted okay, if eating tendons, ligaments, skin and connective tissues are your thing. But, there was absolutely no meat in these«Ham Hocks» at all. I’ve included a picture of what real Ham hocks should look like for reference and where they come from. These were definitely NOT hocks. I will come back again, but won’t ever order their Ham Hocks again. Just noodles for me, thanks. 5 stars for beef noodles, 1 star for ham hocks. Factor in slow service even though there were few customers, and I give this place 3 stars.

Not quite close to authentic Taiwanese flavor but the price is reasonable and food is ok. The regular size of beef noodle is a bit smaller than I thought. Pro: it opens till midnight. So I think the regular size is good for late night snack.

I’ve been to this Wang’s a handful of times, but I doubt I’ll go back. The food, when it comes, is pretty good, but the service is awful even by Chinese restaurant standards. There’s another Wang’s, on Cambie Street, which I believe is owned by the same people and has the same menu; that would be a much better choice. Today I went in mid-afternoon and ordered just a plate of steamed dumplings. There were only four other tables seated, and they were all getting their food.(They were also all Chinese; I’m not.) After a half hour waiting for an order of steamed dumplings I walked out. I’ve also been there with friends where the orders from one table(for soups, not for shared plates) come out fifteen minutes apart. They just don’t get it. I wouldn’t post this review if this was a one-time experience, but I’ve noticed it several times at this particular restaurant. If you’re Asian, you’re served immediately. If you’re not, your order goes to the back of the line, and then some. Today I asked about my order about ten minutes before I left, and about 20 minutes after I first placed it. It was steamed dumplings; takes five minutes to prepare, and as I said the place was not busy. I’ve never had that experience at the Wang’s on Cambie. The service is better, and the place is cleaner. If you’re looking for Taiwanese food, take your business there, or to another Taiwanese restaurant such as Corner 23, also on Cambie. The employees at Wang’s on Granville shouldn’t be working with the public.

I really want to give this place a 2.5 But a 3 star is what I would give them for now. As you step into the shop one of the waitresses will greet you. Although I didn’t really hear mine as I stepped in –it was because she looked like she was just speaking really softly. But she waved us to a table. As we were sitting down I noticed there was a spot on the table that was still wet.(spilled tea). I thought nothing of it as I was sitting down but when the waitress came and put down the utensils along with the napkins and placed it on-top of the little wet spot. My mind raised a little red light. Desperately asking… why would she do that?! in my brain of course. I will give her the benefit of the doubt and say that perhaps she simply didn’t see it. I ordered the number 1 — not spicy. But it came a little bit spicy. When I went to the washroom I nearly gagged a little. The toilet was clean, but the lower half of the walls of the washroom stalls are terrifyingly dirty. It was when I noticed this that I began to visually inspect the restaurant walls after sitting down back at my table. The lower half of the walls of the restaurant are dirty as well. There is no wheelchair accesses to the washroom in this restaurant. Our waitress didn’t come to check up on us either to see how everything was tasting. Cause then I would have asked for new napkins.

We came in because I was too hungry to think of the many options Vancouver has. I had the pork hock noodle soup and it was bland. The pork hock was not tender and was on the tough side. The flavor was so so. The spicy dumpling portion size was so small. There were only 6 tiny pieces of wonton. It was flavorful but not a good value. Will I come back? Maybe not… I was starving and the food was still a disappointment?

Ok I have to say I have an aversion to dirty restaurants, and Wang’s Beef Noodle House stacks up as one of the dirtier places I’ve been to in Van City! I’ve been to this place many years ago… it’s open 24 hours so I came here for an early morning food run a few times like 5 years ago. I thought it was a bit dirty than, but it has only got worst 5 years later! A friend and I were driving home from a shopping venture to the States and we were right in the teeth of rush hour so we decided to pull over grab a bite and wait out the traffic mess! We ended up at Wang’s because we were driving up Granville. As we were being seated the first think I noticed was the overwhelming stench coming off the tables… I think they used a dirty smelly rag to wipe down the tables and we customers were subjected to the smell! I ordered a beef brisket noodle dish and my friend and I shared some fried pork dumplings. From the first bite of the beef brisket I noticed it tasted kind of funky… I can’t describe what it tasted like but it was a bit off. I didn’t eat most of the beef but the noodles and the soup were pretty good. Also, the pork dumplings were pretty good. Ok, when we got home I got a text from my friend and he said he had to make a run to the throne as soon as he got home. He was saying it was the food from Wang’s… I was ok… I did no have to drop off my brown babies at the swimming pool! haha But I was very very very thirsty! The cook at Wang’s must have used a handful of msg in the soup! Overall, I don’t anticipate a visit to Wang’s in the next 5 years! There would have to be a change in ownership and a new commitment to serve clean food there before I go back!

Who wouldn’t like pork intestines, pig ear, tripe along with a big bowl of beef noodle soup? This place was exactly what I hoped for. I asked my cousin to take me to a tawainese beef noodle soup house, and this is where we went. The food came really fast, everything was super tasty… Although I felt that it was a bit on the oily side(yes I know, that the type of food I’m asking to eat). Anyways, thumbs up from me!

We stopped by this restaurant on the way back to Seattle. Even though I agree with reviews regarding the service, we thought the food was pretty good! We have been to Taiwan three times and we thought the food was quite decent. We ordered the beef noodle with thick noodles and the beef pancake wraps as mains. The soup was flavourful and the noodles were great consistencies! The pancake was crispy and the right amount of meat. I would definitely come back to satisfy any cravings! We ordered two drinks, the green tea with milk and the yogurt red tea. I thought the drinks were a good size and tasted good. We even got another one for the drive back to Seattle. Service was a bit slow and the waiters were definitely not the friendliest of people. However, I did not expect much since it is an Asian establishment. As long as the food arrived before I starve to death, I am happy. There is one downside which is they only take Cash only. Since we travel from the US, we don’t always have Canadian cash on hand.

Tiny shop we accident pass by and have great experience. The noodle soup is very authentic for Taiwanese standard. The side dish is what I am really looking for for this review. Try their slice beef with Chinese pancake. This is out skirt of the city but worth a drive. Tip: They have special price from 2:30 pm to 5 pm with combination. They only take cash.

We got food poisoning from eating here last night! I had the fried chicken box which I suspect to be the culprit as my bf only had a couple of pieces of the chicken. I’ve been vomiting and having the runs for over 12 hours now! Probably will hit the ER if I can’t get the water to stay in me. Since my bf only had a few pieces he has milder symptoms. Will not come here ever again!

The spicy soup base is absolutely delicious. It’s really the only reason I eat here; it is a thousand times more flaming than me at the pride parade. Do yourself a favour and order for the #2 Spicy Beef Noodle Soup, extra, extra, EXTRA spicy. Have a generous cup of ice water on hand and your taste buds will thank you; your asshole the next day will not.

Food is just OK, service is atrocious, but I’ll keep coming here once in a while because it hits the spot. Price is good for me too. I do find it odd that when its dead they’re still slow in service. Can’t imagine them getting much tips. Compared to your average Chinese place, definitely sub-par. Also they need to brush up on their english. You are located on Cambie St. and not Richmond.

I’ve been here twice. The first time was to try out a place I haven’t. The second time was to see whether it was THAT bad or not, and clearly, it was THAT bad. The first time, I ordered the Spicy Beef Noodles with thick noodles. The beef chunks were delicious, and the soup was great. But they messed up on my order, and their service left a bad taste. However, to see if they had other delicious options, I went there the second time, and ordered a Fried Chicken Noodle, and oh boy, did I regret! That Fried Chicken Noodle was literally a fried chicken thigh on top of some noodles. No, let me correct that, there were two chicken«thighs». One was a fully fried thigh, the other was a leg, barely any meat on the bone, as if someone re-fried a thrown away, almost eaten leg. I couldn’t eat that meal after having a mental image of the cook re-frying the chicken leg that someone had already eaten. Service is absolutely terrible. Would it kill them to smile for once? Or be attentive? Or at least NOT mess up on the orders? ORATLEASTNOTGIVE A CHICKENLEGTHATDOESN’T LOOKLIKEIT’S ALREADYBEENEATEN? Maybe there is a better Wang House at a different location, but the one here in Marpole was not worth going for me.

I also happen to actually like this place and no, it’s not just because I’m friends with Steph(see brilliant review below). Also, I’ve heard some crazy bad rumours about this place and I don’t think they deserve it! I’ve been coming here for a long time and still recall those days way back when when this was a great place to grab a bite after clubbing downtown. Oh to be young again… Oops where were we… So I was there recently and I still find their noodles to be oh so tasty! I always order the thick noodles and usually the regular soup(although we had the spicy soup today, and it wasn’t spicy enough for me, mostly just oily). But the original A1? What’s not to love? Broth? Good. Noodles? Good. Tender beef? Good. Sour cabbages? Good. With a side of the deep fried tofu? The perfect lunch! Filling, delicious, satisfying. But the tofu will leave you with quite the garlic breath so bring mints, ladies! My favorite side is the tofu but I also recommend the open-ended pork gyozas(they call them pot-stickers on the menu), the beef roll and the spicy pig ears(if you’re into that freaky kinda thing). And yes, if you’re coming here, don’t be expecting excellent service especially if it’s high-human-traffic hour. If you want good service, go to a poshy French or Italian place! This is Taiwanese! And its prices are so reasonable! Under $ 6 for 8 gyozas? Can’t get that at Santouka…

This was a place I would remember every so often and try again, only to be disappointed by the lack of flavour most of the time, but hitting the spot some of the time. This was my last time, though. I had my usual: A10 with shredded pork and pickly snow greens, thick noodle. My first impression was that it had more percentage of soy sauce vs. salt than usual, but I soon came to suspect that they added both more soy sauce AND more salt! Much too salty, even when trying to have the noodle only.

I really need to learn how to make this! Grrrr. .. it doesn’t look like much from the outside, but inside it’s quit modern. We got the spicy beef noodle soup(could use a little bit more flavor), the beef pancake(AMAZING), and the chive pockets/dumpling(could use a little bit more flavor). Parking lot in the front or street parking easily available!

One of the better Taiwanese-style noodle places around the Granville + 70th area. Parking is decent thanks to a small outdoor lot, but quite often this is insufficient. Thank goodness there is plenty of street parking in the immediate vicinity. The interior is quite clean, with nice wood paneling. The staple here is their Spicy beef noodle soup. Another one of my favourites is Noodle in hot + sour soup. They give you a choice of thick doughy noodles, or thin(more conventional) noodles. Both are quite good. As for snacks, their beef roll has a decent amount of filling. And their xiao long bao, while nothing special, are also pretty tasty. Service can be a bit slow sometimes(I swear some of the staff are thinking of something else while working), but they are polite. For groups over 6 people, you may run into a problem as they have no round tables. But if you don’t mind sitting in a row, then larger groups are doable.

*3.5 Stars of consistently Beefy broth that warms you right up! … no that I was super cold because it was pretty warm out in Vancouver the last couple of days. But plans were made and off to Wang’s Noodle house we go! Surprised to see that the place was quite empty when we walked in and we sat in the corner by the table. I liked the tea cups that they used, short and round, like a teaparty. The ladies always came by to fill our cups and were very polite. We ordered one bowl of non-spicy and one bowl of spicy beef brisket noodle soup, a beef roll(which I’m currently addicted to), and a cold cucumber salad. Not sure what to expect from the cucumbers, it was small but very refreshing. Cucumbers had a lovely crunch to them and I think I could’ve eaten the whole thing by myself. The bowls of noodles come in 2 sizes, and at $ 6.50 for a small, it was a good portion allowing for other eats, and a good price(Chef Hung’s was $ 10). The beef broth was very BEEFY. like it had been stewed for days! Not overly strong, just lots of flavour. Although the beef was tender, there were still lots of fat on it. The noodles we ordered were the thick ones, and they were decent, nothing superb. The beef roll, as my friend claimed seemed healthier, because it didn’t seem too pan fried, and more doughy. I thought it was okay… my least favourite behind 1. Chef Hung, 2. Dinesty(in Richmond). Too bad I didn’t have room for BBT… always have craving for that.
