Tom James Of Canada Custom Clothers

First of all I’m surprised there are no existing reviews of this company. Before I begin I should say that a friend of mine has used them and was quite happy, but I think he got lucky with an experienced tailor. My tailors were not so good. I also have a problem with the quality of the material which I’ll get to later. Overall my experience with this company was pretty painful to say the least, and could be turned into a short essay or play, so that’s how I will write this review. Where do I begin…
I ordered a package deal of 1 shirts, slacks and a blazer plus an extra shirt. I wanted to order only shirts but they don’t have packages for that. So right off the bat they get demerits for that. The whole thing with Tom James is they come in to your office and measure you up then send your measurements off to be made (I’m not sure where, most likely a 3^rd world country). That part was fine I suppose. So after waiting a number of weeks, they come back to your office for a fitting. At this point everything is meant to be sort of baggy then they take it in just enough. I tried everything on but since it was in my office, I don’t have a mirror so I was kind of guessing. Everything was definitely too baggy. They took some measurements and left. Then after waiting an additional few weeks they returned. Literally every item was horribly tailored. My shirts were insanely tight to a point where you could see every detail of my stomach, and not because I’m fat which I am not at all. Absolutely no one would wear this shirt. The tailor didn’t seem fazed and didn’t seem to think anything was wrong. I requested that my shirt be re-​done to a remotely normal fit. The pants were super wide around the waist, I could fit 4 fingers perpendicular to my body. The blazer was too tight but not so tight that I made them re-​do it. .
So again everything was sent back, I guess they had to make new shirts at this point. After waiting another several weeks everything was brought back to my office for another fitting. Again with no mirror. This time, the pants were so tight around the waist I could get only 1 finger in. The tailor told me this was fine and to wait a week because it might stretch. First of all, unless I spent the entire week wearing the pants while doing yoga, there’s no way it would stretch that much, and assuming she meant it would stretch under normal use, that would mean the quality must be terrible. That being said, the quality of the pants was actually good. I asked them to take the pants out a bit. The shirts I brought home, but then realized that the neck was way too wide, it was at about a 17.5, I’m a 16 or a 16.5 so it looked awful. So they took the shirt back too.
After another several weeks I got the pants and shirts back (we’re into the several month time frame now). The collars were good, and the pants were good. However, after wearing the shirts a couple of times, I realized that they were cut in this weird way such that they got wider at the bottom, and were a little short, so the shirts just come out of my pants after sitting pretty much every time. Also, after a couple of weeks the button fell off my sleeve, then later on both the sleeves of my other shirt, then the button fell off the top of my shirt at the collar. I re-​sewed the first button but didn’t bother after that. I don’t even wear these shirts now because of the buttons and the fact that they just come out of my pants which looks terrible.
