The Westin Bayshore, Vancouver

we enjoyed our stay here over the New Years holiday. I brought my golden retriever and thought this property was a great choice for us in that respect. they brought up a dog amenity — a pillow, dog bowls and poop scoops. the location is a bit tucked away which is actually perfect. easy to get to sights and sounds of downtown but a good location to come back to at the end of the day. the room was spacious and being Starwood Gold, we were upgraded to a view room in the tower wing. the hotel itself has probably been around for awhile but it’s been well kept up. my Gold profile indicates that I don’t ever want a connecting room but unfortunately that is what we were given upon checkin. of course in the room nextdoor there are two very loud small children who scream at the top of their lungs at all hours of the day and night while their parents do nothing to try to quiet them. which is made worse by the fact that it’s a connecting room. so as far as improvement — I’d say the front desk should note profile requests in the future and try to honor them. I also think that Starwood should hop on the «quiet floor» trend — if they did, they would get even more of my business. we also valet parked for just one night and informed the front desk when we moved our car — but the removed valet charges have mysteriously been added back on to our final bill, necessitating another trip to the front desk to sort it out. by the way there is a car lot just two blocks up Cardero that charges $ 9.00 for 24 hrs on the weekends and 20.00 for 24 hrs during the week. save yourself a pile of money and park there instead. you can pay by phone or online to add time. we also found it odd that we were given one bathrobe and one bottle of water in the room instead of two. we would definitely stay here again in the future. we have stayed at many properties in this city and there are few we really enjoy enough to want to stay again — but this is one of them.

Hotel is clean and nice, but they charge for EVERYTHING! Parking isn’t free, wifi isn’t free. Are you serious? As nice as the hotel seem, they charge for everything here.

Love this place. Great location within walking distance to any and all places you could ever want to visit, and the restaurants on Denman are fantastic.

I usually love staying in Westin’s, so this review kind of is about comparing the Bayshore to most hotels rather than against other hotels.
The hotel is in a beautiful part of Vancouver, overlooking the water.
The layout is kind of odd, everything is spread out and a little confusing between the two towers. Our room was nice – but there was broken window on our floor.
One big issue was that both the phone and alarm were broken. The phone was a particular disappointment because we could not order room service, but we also had no way to call in for alarm (thank goodness for cell phones).
The water temperature was scalding, you had to be careful washing hands or showering.
Overall it was ok, but not Westin quality.

Very fancy hotel with everything but a waterside. Cost me a whole bunch just for 1 night as i got the 2 bed suite, although since I was traveling I did really did get to explore all my options. It appears you can rent a yacht which seems to be true. Nice view of the water on the second floor. Almost perfect resort, almost …

I stayed for a weekend only. The room was clean and nicely decorated. All the furniture was in good condition. The design of the bathroom was interesting if you don’t mind a sliding door. I really liked the shower head. What I didn’t like was that the food was very expensive. A breakfast costed $ 28 per person. Also, the parking garage is across the street.
Room Tip: There are a lot of good places for breakfast, lunch and dinner within walking distance.

Love the Westin. Consistently good, heavenly beds, clean modern facility, great service, in the heart of downtown Vancouver. Just awesome!

Amazing settings, beautiful views, access to walking paths on sea wall and Stanley Park, not to mention easy and close access to so many wonderful restaurants.
MR. JOHNNY WANG and the friendly staff made our first visit to beautiful Vancouver and my birthday celebration a most memorable one! Received a room upgrade with 180 degree view, to be greeted on with chocolate strawberries and champagne on my birthday! It does not get better than that. Thank you!!! We will be back!

Fabulous location, great rooms with great views, soft beds and robes. Rooms on the smaller side. Loved the amenities such as indoor and outdoor pools, fitness club, exercise gear available for rental, concierge to help with travel plans, two restaurants plus a Starbucks and money exchange available. SpG members get extra perks! Excellent and friendly customer service!

Amazing location — nice views, walk to stanley, walk to great food on Denman/​Robson.
Amazing services — stroller loaner, free movie voucher for my daughter. I lost my credit card at the starbucks, and they safe guarded it for me and reached out countless times.
I am definitely coming back.

I stayed in the tower and they put a suite together for us from several adjoining rooms. The view across the harbor was awesome and it was fabulous just sitting in the room watching the activity on the water. It would have been nice to have a real balcony rather than the French balcony, but it was still nice.
There is no better hotel location in Vancouver if you want to bike and walk through Stanley Park. We were there for the fireworks festival and it was an easy walk over to see that. It was about a 20 minute walk to get to gastown and downtown.
The service was fine. The restaurant was overwhelmed for breakfast on Saturday morning. I had to wait 30 minutes for a table, the first time that has ever happened to me for a hotel breakfast. Overall, Saturday seems to be a big cruise ship day and hotel services seem strained checking them in and checking them out and feeding them.
The only other thing that was irritating but not the hotel’s fault was the taxi situation the day we were trying to get to the airport. There was a huge mass of people and it took us nearly 45 minutes to get a cab. Unfortunately this is a Vancouver problem with their silly Über ban and crazy taxi rules (e.g. half the cabs that came by the hotel could not pick anyone up based on various rules).
I got free wifi for my whole family for the whole week by being starwood elite, so that was nice. The wifi seemed buggy, requiring me to log in and «pay» over an over. Fortunately, since it was free, nothing ended up on my bil

This hotel is not in the main part of the city, however it has great views and you can have a long walk around Stanley Park, which is a big plus for road warriors.
I always ask for the towers with the view of Stanley Park and the marina.
Rooms are large, with crisp bedding and of course, the famous Westin bed. I get the room with the balcony on upper floors for the best views.

Nice hotel and friendly staff. The three stars is for the little things. This was second hotel I stayed at on my trip. We spent 4 nights here. Here we paid more for valet then u did at another hotel up the road and it took longer to get our car always. I would call at least ten minutes ahead and it still would not be there when we went down. Also if we wanted Wifi I had to either pay for it in the room or goto the lobby. This is called Cheap where I’m from. So you tell me anybody from the street could walk in and get free wifi but your guests have to pay? Bad service. When I asked about this at checkout I was told because I booked through a third party site and also was not a rewards member with Starwoods. Who cares where I booked I choose your hotel. Also there exchange rate was lower then the food mart up the street. I guess that corporate for you.

Great location and beautiful views of the marina that make waking up for work a pleasure. Make sure your window faces Coal Harbour (notice Canadian spelling). You can rent a bike just steps away or just go on a promenade around the water or into Stanley park.
Service is very good, and they are well equipped for meetings and conferences. Room WiFi is spotty at times and overpriced as expected for a business hotel. THey do give you $ 5 gift cards for every day you don’t use turn-​down service, which bought me a lavish Starbucks breakfast on my last day.
Restaurants are pretty good but breakfast is really overpriced, even with the favorable fx into USD. Luckily, there are plenty of good places to eat 5 minutes away.

Great hotel to host big conferences because it is huge, w great service, smiling and friendly staff and very beautiful. It’s location is great because you’re tucked away from the noise hub of downtown. You’re in the heart of coal harbour do you can go on a beautiful walk morning or night. You’re just next to Stanley park and just a 2 min walk into the heart of downtown.
I’ve been here twice for conferences and it’s quite excellent. The area is gorgeous and just really convenient.

Ordered some Canadian micro brews which were delicious. Then got the seafood chowder which came with homemade raisin bread and butter. It was stellar! I am also a huge advocate of butter served at room temperature. I hate ice cold butter at restaurants. I then got the braised beef with mashed potatoes and onions, it was good. The low point was dessert, got the Carmel brownie with fruit. Decent. I would give this place 3.5 stars

All i can say is Awesome. What a great place to stay. Great views, very friendly staff… our home away from home. We stay here 2 – 3 times a year for a date night. We often take advantage of being right on the Stanley Park Seawall and go out for a great walk or two. We like to hang out on our little balcony and take in the fresh Vancouver Air overlooking the Harbour… very refreshing and relaxing. We typically get a friendly nod and hello as we walk by the hotel staff and all of them are willing to stop and help with whatever you need… they will even lend you an umbrella if need be.
This place has been around for years and isn’t the most modern. But it has all of what we want and need and will come back time and time again… because we absolutely LOVE this hotel.

Hubby cashed in some points and we enjoyed a lovely 3 nights at this Westin.
It is a bit on the older side but still quite nice.
We were in the tower that was closer to Denman street.
We had a wonderful room on the 8^th floor that overlooked the boat harbor.
It was lovely to open the slider and enjoy the fresh air and watch the seaplanes on their landing approach.
We could see LIFT (the restaurant) from our room and at night you could hear the valet below and any party-​goers. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t absolute quiet either. Also, the birds in the morning can be a bit noisy but it’s nice to wake up to a bit of nature.
The room had «black out» like curtains that would make the room quite dark if you wanted to sleep in. But we only used the lighter curtain so that when the sun came up, we’d get up too.
LOCATION:
GREAT location (IMO). It’s on the West End, Coal Harbor area and it’s super close to Stanley Park. So close that it’s an easy walk to the entrance to the park and seawall trail. OR… you can rent bikes at any of the rental shops on Denman (like a block away) and access the park easily. (It’s also close to Cardero, a restaurant/​bar we really enjoyed.) It’s in a really nice part of the city, so you don’t have to worry walking around the immediate area like part of the seawall in the evening or early morning. (I can’t say the whole city is nice since we found Skid Row on accident when roaming around between Gastown, Chinatown and Downtown.)
ROOM AMENITIES:
I think if you have a certain status, you get free WiFi.
As an SPG member, we only got 1 bottle of room a night… the other was CAD4.
There was a small fridge in our room too.
The shower was a bit odd. It was a rainfall type shower… which was lovely… but what was odd was that there was no shower curtain nor door. So… the bathroom got a bit wet. Even though, I was trying to keep from splashing too much… water got all over the floor.
The bathroom itself is long and narrow. Only really can have 1 person in there at a time. (The closet is also in the bathroom.)
They provided 1 bath robe.
They provided soaps and lotion but no shower cap or other niceties like some places do.
The work desk had several power outlets which was good but there weren’t any power outlets on or near the night table lights.
Bed was super comfy.
HOTEL AMENITIES:
We didn’t try the restaurants. The one appears to only do breakfast. The other appears to do lunch and dinners. But they do have a Starbucks.
And their gift shop sells water and soft drinks. The water is cheaper than CAD4 so definitely stock up here or a market if you want more than 1 bottle a day.
They are dog friendly as we saw several folks with their pooches.
PARKING:
If you have a car… it’s pricey to park/​valet at the hotel. I think it was CAD41 per day. But note… there’s a couple of underground parking structures that are really close (like across the street). And the street has metered parking too. And if you time it just right… (and can find a spot) at night… they don’t patrol the meters from 10pm to 9am. So… as long as you move your car or put coins in by 9am… you’re good to go for the night.
Overall, really liked this hotel… for it’s location and true to Westin standards.

Clean hotel with friendly service. It lives up to the normal Westin SPG standard that I am used to (I stay 50+ nights a year). They skimp a little by only providing you 1 bottle of Dasani water and requiring you to pay $ 4 for the other one, but otherwise, the room is very clean, the staff is courteous, and it’s in a spectacular location.
It’s right besides the water with a Starbucks downstairs. What more can you ask for? Internet is fast and free for platinum members (as always). I’d stay here again if I visit Vancouver. Make sure to walk along the water and get a $ 20 massage for 20 minutes. Well worth it.

We have stayed here several times and love it. The Westin Bayshore is dog friendly, which is very important to us as we take our dogs everywhere. Be sure to ask for the dog bed and bowls.
The location is wonderful. Views of Coal Harbor and easy access to Stanley Park. Just a couple of blocks from Robson St which is full of dining and shopping. It’s right along the seawall, which is a great place to ride bikes.
It’s relaxing to sit in your room and watch the float planes take off and the boats float by.
The rooms in the tower are newer, larger and nicer, but it is a long walk from the entrance to the elevators. The rooms in the main part of the hotel are older and could use a refresh.
There are 2 pools one indoor and one outdoor (seasonal). If you have a room above the outdoor pool in the summer it could be a little loud late at night, but it’s just people having fun.
The staff has been very friendly and helpful.
We have never eaten at the hotel since there are hundreds of restaurants within just a couple of blocks.
We have plans to return to The Westin Bayshore very soon. It’s one of our dog’s favorite places to stay when traveling.
