The Path Yoga Studio

I am a very picky yogi. When I move to a city I tend to try many different studios and teachers. In my opinion, The Path Yoga Studio has the most experienced, knowledgeable, no nonesense, practical, safe yoga teachers in Vancouver. If you are interested in going deep with your practice, this is the place. Swan is incredibly wise and kind, and I highly recommend her mindfulness meditation classes as well as her active classes. All the teachers here are well trained and authentic, and the restorative classes are by far and away the most profound relaxation experience I’ve had in Vancouver, and anywhere for that matter. The little touches of placing eye pillows in your hands to weight them and encourage them to release tension accumulated throughout the day, to putting sandbags on your feet in legs up the wall pose or on your hips (done respectfully and with permission) to facilitate grounding allow the body to surrender that much more fully. If you have insomnia, psychosomatic health concerns, or are interested in preventative wellness, seek out these restorative classes.
The attention to detail, and the way you are treated from the moment you step in the door, makes it obvious that this is a place where the dharma is not just an idea but a practice. If you are feeling run down by the demands of the city, come here to slow down, connect, and feel uplifted by kindness and care.

I actually heard of this place from an event that was posted on Unilocal (the «Do Less» workshop, which I attended this evening). The workshop was not conducted by the studio itself; therefore, this review will only cover the actual space, since I’ve not attended any of the classes here.
The space is simply fabulous — it’s tucked away in a corner and is right next door to Moksha Hot Yoga, so it’s easy to miss, but once you enter, the large open space is defined by a hanging tapestry in the centre of the entryway, which defines the practice area without feeling blocked. The floors are gorgeous wood, there are cubbies for shoes & bags near the door, and a water cooler by the informative bulletin board. The lighting concept is superb, with lovely fixtures and continuous dimmers for a full range of lighting options. The sound system was good, and there is a nicely-​appointed washroom at the back of the room.
We used a lot of props in the workshop, and still managed to fit in about 20 people and 2 instructors comfortably.
