Great service, staff, and prices. I brought a date here for drinks last night and had a great time! They also get bonus points for having a foosball table.

Another HORRIBLE Vancouver bar. You’d be better off buying a mickey of wisers and getting drunk in the alley behind a bathhouse.

Everything about this place is awesome. From the friendly door staff to the overly amazing bartenders, this place rocks. Mario Kart 64 Sunday nights are as fun as they sound and(meat draw) Bingo on Thursday is just great! Cheap drinks, great music and always a good time.

I love this place for happy hour! .75 tacos and beer & a burger for $ 7! The tacos are actually really tasty. Some of the best I’ve found in Vancouver and I’m from Southern California. I know a good taco. Service is great. Jen is smiling every time I am in there. I’ve never been late at night when it is more of a club, but I enjoy it after work when it’s a pub atmosphere.

Servers and bartenders are hipster douche bags. The food can take long. Atmosphere sucks. Reason for five stars? I go here for cheap beers(3.25 $ sleeves) and cheap food(0.75 $ tacos). That’s what I expect and that’s what they deliver.

I went to the Metropole on a Tuesday night after having stayed away for years because of the sketchy location and the super sticky floors. Dancing should not be a mission. While I enjoyed the early Tuesday night atmosphere better for a small gathering of friends, there were a couple of things I had to note. There were only about four groups in the bar when we showed up for drinks and it was still difficult at times to flag down a server. This place turns into a club at some point and we got booted out of our table to make way for coat check. The heat needs to be turned way up or the door kept closed because I was in a sweater and boots and still needed to put back on my scarf and mittens to stay warm. And, absolutely none of the door’s on the women’s washroom stalls lock, so you need to bring a friend to guard the door. I doubt I’ll be back.

Music was rubbish and the DJ made it worse! I know it is not a music venue but this guy looked and played like he didn’t give a f#%k. I think he only downloaded the preview of each song from iTunes and changed between songs with absolutely zero finesse.

typical of vancouver, this cheap bar with the original art deco flooring has pretentions leaning towards a night club. Pool table needs repairs badly– the roll on the surface is nasty!

So on Tuesdays there are $ 2 beers here. Sounds like a good deal, until you realize the glasses are kid-sized. Then you realize it’s really just regular-priced. With that said, the glasses are really cute.

NOTE: This review is for their late night weekend scene. Apparently the Met is better earlier in the night when they’re still serving cheap food and there’s not cover. Anyhoo, I went there with 6~ friends last Saturday night around 11:30. $ 10 cover, $ 5PBR, and top 40 music. What’s the point of even coming here? Oh yeah, and House of Wax was playing on all of the TVs so while listening to Super Bass we were forced to see women being tortured and mutilated on screen; not exactly a happy atmosphere to be in.

I cant believe that a group of anti hockey«chicks» made a huge fuss that the awesome bartender, Lenny, was playing tbe playoffs instead of the shitty canned music they demanded. Thanks Lenny. Music is great and it can always wait until the game is over. This is Canada and Lenny is a real Canadian Unlike the bitchy hockey haters. Want to watch sports this is your bar. Great music later. DJ’s are great but they come on after the sun sets.

PINBALLREVIEW Machines: Pinbot, Batman Two great games combined with a super cheap food menu, and Driftwood on tap make this a primo spot to enjoy some PB. Gets a little loud in the evenings, so afternoon is the best time to go.

I came here on a Friday night and was SUPER impressed with the DJ and the music he was playing that night. He played a lot of quality old school hip hop and RnB(TLC, Aaliyah, Jay-Z, Missy Eliott, Montel Jordan, etc). and the drinks were super cheap. I liked how this place is really casual and there is no pressure at all to dress up. My tip: Come early(before 10:30pm) for some drinks and avoid paying cover!

$ 2 — 9oz after work beers! Theres a pretty affordable $ 6.50 beer and burger special. The burger was sub-standard, so you’re pretty much paying for the beer, but if you’re not fussy its a good deal. Service was good. Music a little loud. This is a VERY casual non-pretentious little hole in the wall with a good cheap menu and decent daily food specials.

CHEAP! This is the place to go if you want cheap drinks and food! Its a bit of a 20 somethings bar and a real fun time. The washrooms could use a renew I think one even might be missing a door, but you get what you pay for. Toonie soft taco Tuesday Everyday 7 $ burger and beer 4 $ Sleeves Pool table and a few more arcade games and really busy Tuesday nights. They open the side doors when its nice out and you can people watch. All in all I love this place!

I went here a couple of months ago after hearing a lot of reviews about it – I was in search of a pub that had a foosball table; at the time this was the only one I’d come across. So, we went there with a couple of friends and generally had a very mediocre time. Maybe I’m getting old, but if the music is so loud that you need to yell to just hear the other person, then that isn’t really a good time. The beers were overpriced – both the local pitchers as well as the bottles. The foosball table was pay-to-play, which would have been fine, except each game is $ 2(and each game only lasts a couple of minutes). It was pretty cramped, but we managed to get a table – however, in the middle of our night, we were asked to move so that they could make the area we were sitting at into a dance floor. If I were to do it all over again, I’d probably choose having a drink in the park and throwing rocks around instead. I doubt I’ll ever be going back here, unfortunately.

+10 points for very good prices. Cheap beer(and a good selection) and cheap food. +10 points for games: pool, foosball, shuffleboard, all in working condition. +5 points for atmosphere. On a Thursday evening, there were lots of people, enough to feel like a party, but not so many that it was too crowded. Lots of places to sit. The music was at a volume where conversation was still totally possible. –25 points for the pee trough in the guys’ bathroom. There are few things more disgusting than peeing into a giant splashy communal tub with a bunch of drunk strangers.

Ok, the good: It’s Cheap! Seriously, $ 3 for a pint some nights is cheaper than a pitcher at The Cambie! And seriously $ 6 for a burger and beer($ 7 with fries) is not horrible if you’re ok with a very dry Costco style hamburger. But to be honest, in this neighborhood, I’m sort of glad they don’t make their own food but use pre-made and processed food.(It’s hard to control pests when the entire neighborhood is not doing their part and the infestations just continue-For that I want to THANKDHM for at least trying to make a successful business in the downtown Eastside. They are really doing the best they can with this bar.) The bad: Well, there’s not much that I can complain about knowing that I’m getting what I pay for. Cheap food. Cover on the weekends. But it’s not that bad knowing that it could be worst. At least a slum lord isn’t running this place into the ground. That’s all I can say.

Great dive bar we found on our Gastown adventure. This is a real honest dive with real regulars and a solid staff. Avoid the«Funky» next door(they wanted a $ 10 cover for four metal bands and the place was EMPTY). Anything east of here is pretty shady. Cheap drinks!

How many times can a group of people say«Are you serious?!» in one sitting. Let’s find out. $ 3 beer specials. AYS?! $ 6 burger w/chips and beer. I say AYS?! $ 2 appies. $ 4 appies. We all say AYS?! $ 4 burger and beer happy hour on Thursdays. AYS?! $ 2 beer on Tuesdays. Can I get a AYS?! Big screen hockey games and other sporting events. AYS?! Walk right in and sit right down. AYS?! Retro video game systems, free for the playing. We played 4-player Mario Kart until our thumbs were crying for help. AYS?! Fo realzies. All this, and friendly staff. A no-frills, cheap but tidy pub that makes you feel welcomed. The food is not gourmet, but at these prices and this fun environment, a lot of fancy is quickly overlooked. The Metropole is very unlike the other Donnelly Pubs and the trendy new spots in Gastown.
