The Main Restaurant

3 different waitresses in one night. Asked for water twice and they forgot twice. Food was boring, not even a bit of seasoning and by seasoning, i mean pepper and table salt, cmon making me cry. Rice, bland. Potatoes, bland. Poutine, where’s the curds? I should have just ordered fries and poured gravy on it myself. Hate to say it, salad might have been the best thing. It was gone before everything else. Recap, piss poor service and flavourless food. Pricey too. Try harder.

To me The Main has gotten better over the years. The Greek food here was always okay, but never the greatest. However, I was here for dinner last night and was pretty impressed. Not only was the food way better than I remember, but the service was excellent and overall the experience was really nice. All the dishes we ordered tasted really fresh and flavourful. In addition to the standard Greek menu items, they’ve also got pizza, pasta, etc. I should also mention for Happy Hour they had glasses of wine and draft beer for $ 4. You can’t go wrong!

Walking down Main street I was a bit hungry. Walked by so many restaurants but not sure which one to go to.
The Main Restaurant caught my eye so here we go! I got a rum and coke which is easy to make and casually looked at the menu. Not big or spectacular just regular North American food such as pizza, pasta and steak. Ordered the Rib Eye steak with potato and mixed greens. Medium rare is the way to go. It arrived to me perfectly except for the string beans. They were like those beef jerkys, hard to chew on and I had two string beans that were tough! The vegetable selection was fine but what could have made it better? How about using bok choy or even turnips. Like the idea they didn’t resort to using frozen peas!
Service was good. It’s kinda strange seeing my first waitress and then another one took over. It would have been nice if they said something. Overall service was fine and my tummy is full!

Monday special pizza ordered the chicken. pizza was okay nothing special… thin crust a little soft could have been cooked a little more also ordered the Saganaki which was pretty good… service was so so given there was only 1 server who was also the bartender with 3 tables or 2 each… overall wouldnt recommend for food maybe just drinks.

We had the pizzas that were on special that day (a Monday night) and they were both good .They were out of the beer that we were looking for.
Prices were a bit high if it were not for the daily specials.
Service was good.

The main used to be one of my favs. But no longer. The service was terrible and the food (which used to be great) is now bla, uninspired, and overpriced ! We used to love the appetizer platter, but the potatoes now are gross, and you get rice with it, who wants rice? Also there used to be 3 dips, now you just get 1 tiny amount of tzatiki. Beware past lovers of the main !

We have been going here alot since we moved to the Hood 5 years ago. It has been going down hill, the species are still great on Monday (pizza) and Wednesday (pasta). But some items like a California Caesar salad is getting smaller and shrip is often burnt. Service is also getting sceatchy… Robin is amazing the blond guy is pretty good too… But it just feels like there is a lack of experience… Time to step up Main.

We found The Main Restaurant on the Just Eat website. They had decent prices and a wide selection. We should have however, read the reviews online before we made the idea to attempt to order from them.
As the Just Eat website wasn’t working, we decided to call the restaurant and ask whether or not they could do anything.
1. Our first few calls were completely ignored. We had friends at the restaurant at the time, and they said it wasn’t too busy to answer the phone, although they also complained of extremely long wait times and rude staff members.
2. When someone finally did answer the phone, a young girl, she sounded very bothered to be answering her work’s phone and talking to a customer. She was cold, and rude to us. We simply asked «Hi there, Do you do delivery?» She replied with «Yes, we actually do, but you have to order through the Just Eat website.» When we explained to her that our payment kept on getting rejected (it was working with all other Just Eat restaurants listed…), and if we could just order delivery, she quickly interrupted and very rudely yelled into the phone «Uhhh, we DON’T do delivery. BYE.» And hung up the phone on us as we tried to inquire.
Note, we were completely respectful this entire time.
When we did finally get the Just Eat order to go through to the restaurant (it took forever.) Our order was rejected by the restaurant (never had this happen before), reason was that it was «too busy in the restaurant». Again, our friends were in there at the time, and had stated that it was almost empty.
All in all, horrible customer service, and now after reading these horrible reviews on this place, I will NEVER be giving them my business and I will be directing everyone I know to eat elsewhere.
Shame on you guys! Learn how to run a business.

I came in looking for pie and the hostess said they had 2 so I went in. The dessert menu had 3 items and none of them were pie. The berry crumble was the closest thing but they were sold out. The server said the bougatsa is even better so I gave it a try. I was so disappointed. The outer layer was too heavy and sweet and the middle was flavourless. Between two people, we hardly finished it. I just wish they didn’t tell me they had pie, but they girls were very nice.

This place is a dive don’t bother. Drinks were poorly made, food was meh, ambience is like an old saloon.
Crowd is bewildered.
Best thing was our young African American waitress, I wouldn’t go back for her but I will wave to her as I walk on down to chaise :)

Good food for a great price! I went here for dinner with my parents last night. It turned out to be cheap pasta night ($ 10 a plate). They didn’t have any vegetarian pasta dishes but they happily accommodated me. This tells me the pasta sauces aren’t pre-​made. Cheap beer ($ 4) before 5pm as well! Excellent service too.

I have always wanted to come here and I’m glad I finally did! the pasta is cooked PERFECTLY. portion sizes are just right. they have a great menus but I wish they had more variety. loved to the food, but if my friend asked me where to go for dinner on Main Street, this one probably wouldn’t be my first recommendation.

The food is good, the prices are reasonable and the drinks are cheap!
The service was really good, our waitress was on point.
The Greek chicken wings and meatballs were delish! The dip that the chicken wings come with was delightful!
Overall defiantly an awesome place to come to for a bite to eat for a reasonable price.
Parking is a bit hectic ESP on weekends.

I’ve been here a few times and the food is a-​ok. Nothing to write home about but definitely nothing to complain about either. There’s lots of options on the menu (mostly Mediterranean inspired fare) and surely even the pickiest of eaters can find something to order. Decent selection of beer and cocktails. Be aware the kitchen closes an hour or two before the restaurant closes so if you want late night eats you’re out of luck. I wouldn’t go out of my way to recommend it to anyone, but I also wouldn’t hesitate to visit again.

Came by to try some steak goodness.
Parking isn’t the best here. There are some metered and free spots along Main, as well as the side streets.
The place has been around for a while, so things are a bit worn. With that said, it’s still classy looking on the inside. The inside is decently sized.
Staff were friendly, but they didn’t come by too often. I had to physically go find the waitress.
As an appetizer, they served bread. It looked like a random mix of pita and baguette slices.
The steak I had was pretty decently cooked. A bit too cooked. My rare steak turned out to be medium-​rare. My friend’s steak also turned out overcooked as well. Dinged 1 star there. The baked potato was exactly as it sounded (no green onions or anything). The vegetables were cooke beans, carrots, onions, and broccoli. It didn’t taste too bad, but the meal was almost $ 20.
Overall a decent experience, but nothing really stuck out.

I’ve walked by here a few times, however, finally came in after much deliberation and debate with my best friend.
The layout is very awkward. I felt bad for the waitress who had to skot behind other tables in frustration.
This place gets busy, however, that didn’t compromise the service. The service was decent.
Prices were mid range.
Food was okay, nothing to write home about. It is your standard pub food. I had nachos and they gave a generous serving off all the side dips.
My friend had the roast lamb which she said was decent.

Sunday night, meet with friend for dinner. The room was about 70% full at 7:30pm.
I tried the $ 10 steak dinner. 5 oz steak with salad, potato, and bread. Good portion for $ 10. The beef might not be AA class, but not too bad for the money.
Tables were a little crowed. Waitress was friendly and helpful. Food was OK. Atmosphere was cozy and relax.

A great place to go for decent drinks from a selection of local brews. The food items in the menu are diverse and offer a great variation of choices. My go to choices are usually the calamari or roast lamb. I have tried the appetizers and they offer a good value also.
Service is usually quite good without any complaints.

The rating of this restaurant is pretty spot on — Average sums it up perfectly. I went on Saturday night and it was pretty busy. We waited for a table because we didn’t want the back room. I was happy to see that it was such a diverse place and that it attracted a lot of different crowds.
Service was pretty quick, but then it started depleting to an average dinner. There’s a beer on their menu that they don’t serve at all anymore (the stout). They’ve replaced it with a porter. Though similar, they aren’t the same. And I would imagine that if you aren’t going to update your menu you better have a substitute that is at least the same type of beer. Whatever, my boyfriend got the porter.
We ordered the burger and asked to substitute for a poutine, to which the waitress responded «do we even have poutine on the menu??» I flipped it over to show her that it’s offered as an appetiser, so she stated getting our fries like that shouldn’t be a problem.
Our food came out reaaaaally slowly. When it arrived I looked at my poutine and was instantly disappointed. On the same plate as my burger, fries, just stopped with a blob of lukewarm gravy (you know this from the texture) and maybe ⁴⁄₅ cheese curds. The gravy didn’t even remotely cover the fries. The burger was also mediocre at best. Served with basic toppings is okay, but you need to have a good burger to back it. This one just wasn’t.
My friend got a second beer but when I requested a refill on my water (I’m pregnant, no beer for me), it didn’t come. We were there for two hours and I sipped on one 12oz glass of water the whole time.
A band showed up at 10 and only my table and one other remained. They were a country band, but quite good. I felt bad that their venue which, just an hour prior, was totally full was now totally empty.
This wouldn’t be my choice again on Main St. The Mediterranean food looked a lot better so perhaps it is, but it isn’t my thing.

Tonight there was a meetup at The Main, and I decided to join them since I didn’t have any plans and I enjoy meeting new people. The event started around 6pm, but because I went to an exercise class first (I just love Alicia’s Bellyfit class!) and missed the bus, I arrived just before 8:30pm.
The server came up to take my order moments after I had sat down, but I hadn’t had a chance to look at the menu as I had just sat down, and there wasn’t a menu within view. I requested a menu, and the menu that was given to me was STICKY. Since I was not ready to order, which seemed to annoy the server, she left, and I assumed that she would be back shortly after I had had a chance to look over the menu. Well, you know what they say about making assumptions…
A full 15 minutes went by, and no sign of the server, not even to ask if I wanted a glass of water or to order a drink (which was yes to both). Thirsty, hungry, and mildly annoyed, I went to look for the server, as at this rate, I figured that by the time I got my food, most people in our group would have left, as they had gotten there earlier and had already eaten.
I found the server and told her that I had been waiting for a long time to order, and that I was anxious to order soon, as I didn’t want to be left eating alone. The server shoved her face inches away from my face and said in a very condescending tone, «Well, only ONE person in your group has paid so far, so you won’t be eating alone. So what do you want to do?»
Put off by her behaviour, I said, «You’re very rude and I no longer want to order anything.» Even though I was hungry and had been looking forward to a glass of wine (and at $ 5 a glass, to boot), I decided to save my money and not risk being stuck eating and drinking alone after everyone had left. (If it took over 15 minutes to order, who knows how long it would be to get my food.)
I went back to the group and told the organizer about what had happened, and thus I would only be staying for a short time and not ordering anything. (The organizer told me that someone else had complained about the server, and that she would not be organizing another event there. In addition to everything, they had also lost our reservations.) About ten minutes later the server came by and asked me if I was going to order, and I told her no.
I stayed and chatted for about half an hour (even though the evening was a bust, at least I had decent conversations with a couple of people), and thankfully I had a bottle of water in my purse, as I was quite thirsty.
Usually I’m not one to dismiss a business based one one incident by one employee, but I was so turned off by the server’s behaviour and attitude (as well as the STICKY menu) that I have no interest in ever returning. Based on the other reviews, it seems that I won’t be missing much anyway.
