It is somewhere you go to fill yourself up with sushi. The sushi is OK. Some of the fish seems cut directly from frozen fish without warming to R.T. The taste is not bad. The size of sushi is quite big. It almost fill my whole mouth. There is almost no service but is is often such case in restaurants like this. The waitress keeps talking making the environment a little bit noisy. I highly recommend you to order 2h or even 1d before and then pick up to get the 5% to 10% discount instead of eat in.

Large portions and very cheap, but it’s not exactly the best quality. Come here if you’re looking to fill up your belly without breaking your wallet!

Affordable and huge. Though it’s technically not all you can eat, but 2 rolls will fill you up.

I dont know if its the nostalgia speaking. Since I’ve been going since high school. But so far they never disappointed me. My favorite of this place will always be the chicken teriyaki roll and the CHICKENUDON. the udon is fantastic, with lots of lettuce and generous amount of both chicken and noodles. It’s a simple meal but leaves you smiling like an idiot. I would not recommend the sashimi since they are cut it LARGE slices and aren’t always fresh. Once I almost puked since it was too hard to swallow lol. Sushi rolls are also huge. Good deal for good price. Its right across from Point Grey so don’t go during lunch time. Or else you’ll bump into hoards of highschool kids. Service has always been prompt and friendly. I hope they continue to live on in kerrisdale. I’m missing the udon already!

Ugh. Don’t know if I just caught this place on an off night or what. I ordered a California roll and waited for an oddly long amount of time, and paid and left. As soon as I took a bite I could tell something was off. I figure the imitation crab had probably gone bad because I had to spit it out and nearly gagged. I hope that this is not a common occurrence, because the rolls that they offer are enormous, and are of great value, but I don’t think I’ll be returning any time soon.

We might have champagne tastes, but when beer budgets rule, this mini franchise(they’re connected to the one in Marpole, and have a spot in Surrey, too) is where we head. We often did dine-in, but mostly we were take-away regulars on a weekly basis. My daughter often went independently several times a week, with the kids she nannied. We moved away from Kerrisdale 7 years ago, but we still go to this Sushi King because we find its hard to beat the value they offer. The fish is fresh, humongous as has been stated many times, decently prepared. Plus, they still remember us! We’re always greeted by a very friendly team(and sometimes they would bring us little ‘extras’ while we’d wait for our to-go order, like mini seafood salad, lychees, kumquats!) These guys are our all-time favourite non-Japanese-run Go-To sushi place!

Hands down my favourite(non ayce) sushi restaurant in Vancouver. I’ve been coming here for 8 years and in the last two it has been a weekly basis. Best prices in town and huge pieces. The sashimi always tastes fresh and there is tons of selection. The crazy roll, sunrise roll, negitoro roll, and house roll are my favourites. But everything i’ve tried has been a hit. The owners are very warm and are always smiling. Definitely a must try!

I don’t throw out food especially after footing the bill. Was so disgusted I threw this garbage out even though so hungry at the time

Quanity trumps quality in a big way and do I mean big. Each sushi roll is almost twice the size of a normal sushi roll with their massive sticky rice as filler and their not so par for the course sushi. With so much filling, a regular roll just can’t fit into one normal bite, so it’s easy to create a mess with your meal. My advice? just stick with their sashimi. Some don’t mind having larger portions of raw goodness.

Spent many of my senior high school and early university days here. California rolls used to be my one of my favourite in town but recent times it seems to have gotten grittier. Cooked food is not worth trying. The one redeeming feature is the sashimi, huge pieces and usually pretty good. They also have a humongous house roll thats pretty decent. Value for money is terrific, and decent sized party trays. I like to call ahead and order to pick up, takes them about 10 mins to get everything ready. Sushi king Granville is better but I still drop by every now and then

I don’t know why I ate here today. I had told myself not to come back because I had always gotten sick. Okay, it’s because the one that I wanted to go to was closed today and I was hungry. Yes, the portions are huge but it’s not the quantity but the quality. There were pieces of tuna that I couldn’t even chew through. The rolls were pretty much tasteless. And the ebi in my sunomono looked like they’ve been there for awhile. Even the cucumber slices were crudely chopped, not sliced. Maybe it’s for the Point Grey students with big appetites. Who knows. Gross.

I’ve been going to this place for about 7 – 8 years, so the family running the place know me pretty well as a regular. Everybody there is extremely nice and always smiling. The food: it’s HUGE. 2 California roles elsewhere is equivalent to 1 California role at Sushi King. You won’t need to order as much since the servings are so big. I’m pretty sure roles are supposed to be small, so I guess that makes Sushi King’s not authentic Japanese, but most people probably care about the value and if it tastes good.(Most sushi restaurants in Vancouver aren’t Japanese-runned anyway) My point is, the food here is yummy and it’s inexpensive.

In terms of size, this is literally the KING of all sushi… Also KING of F-quality food. The fish is probably 10 days old because there’s a gross after taste that I couldn’t get rid of even after scrubbing my tongue. Granted, it’s cheap so I can’t complain. And the house roll is literally as thick as my upper arm!!! Got maki combo A… I suggest sharing. Ate it all by myself and wanted to throw up afterwards. In terms of location, props to them for being so close to Point Grey Secondary. Obviously targeting the hungry high school kids.

Sushi King House is one of the many wonderful dingy sushi hole-in-the-wall type places around town, and rightfully one of the more famous ones. Don’t let the old neon lights scare you away. Parking is available on the side streets, usually 37th or 38th Avenues. Whenever I have a sushi craving but don’t want to go more than 5 or 10 minutes out of the way, this is the place I call home. They have the typical combos or whatnot, but what I usually do is order either Party Tray 1 or Party Tray 2 with a friend. For $ 22 taxes in, you both get to stuff your face. The best part of the food selection? The sheer size of their rolls. I’m sure some of the ladies can attest to this, but Size Does Matter. Some of their rolls are the size of cake rolls. Yes it means you get plenty of rice, but to me this also guarantees I don’t leave hungry(one of my biggest gripes about high-end restaurants). The place seems to be family run(mom + dad + daughter), though I do question how the daughter(if this is the case) can help around so much without having her grades suffer? She looks like she’s still in school. Service is decent, with the servers always smiling. Dragon roll — the eel slices up top make it worth the extra few bucks. Nigiri sushi(salmon and tuna) — pieces are cut a little too perfectly, looks like plastic. But tasted fine. Salmon and tuna maki — they didn’t pack these well. They were falling apart(unraveling) even before I could pick up a piece. BC roll — lots of thick fish skin. Yum! California roll — nothing out of the ordinary, other than their sheer size. Alaska roll — More salmon goodness. They don’t skimp on this one. My only complaint is that the place closes a bit early at 2100, but for a 3-person operation, you can’t really blame them. Oh, and it’s cash only. Seriously, where would I be without places like these.
