What a bargain! Full sushi combo, soft drink and miso soup for UNDER $ 12! Excellent flavor, and owner Mia is just great. Very warm and sharing! This gem has limited hours, so grab it when you can: Only open Mon-Thur 10:30−6pm, and Friday 10:30−3. No weekends or holidays. This place is a real prize(free tea while you wait, and very limited seating). They DO take credit cards.

This has to be the best option for takeout sushi around the Waterfront Station area. They are lightning fast with my orders; I call in and they say 5 minutes for an order with substitutions that is decently large. Don’t get the impression that they sacrifice quality for speed though, their quality is still great. One thing that doesn’t get talked about enough is rice quality, and Spin Roll does a great job in making sure its properly seasoned and cooked properly. The nigiri doesn’t fall apart on you when you dip it in soy, and we all know how much that sucks. I usually order a dynamite combo(dynamite roll, 2 pc each tuna and salmon nigiri), substitute the dynamite roll for a spicy tuna dynamite roll, then add a salmon avocado roll. All in it runs me $ 14 bucks or so. The salmon avocado roll is awesome, lots of salmon and the avocado is fresh. Nigiri is equally good, with nice cuts of fish and a good ratio of fish to rice. They’re not especially large nigiri like some other places, but they are of quality. The spicy tuna dynamite roll is pretty awesome. Lots of spicy tuna that has a nice spicy sauce with it. Of note: I did have the normal dynamite roll and didn’t like it nearly as much as the spicy tuna dynamite roll. They use a slightly sweeter mayo than normal that I don’t much enjoy.

I come here almost every time I don’t bring a lunch for work. This place has the best sushi in a 3 block radius of my office and having only 30mins for a lunch break this place has fast and friendly service. I like the rolls here more than zero sushi(just a couple shops down) because the rolls here stay more together… if that makes any sense hahaha… I may be a creature of habit I always get the same thing. My favorite is the spicy tuna dynamite roll!

This little hole in the wall is best for take out. They have a few stools and bar height tables and is not recommended for a comfortable sit down meal. They have a great assortment of sushi and I ordered the combination plate this time(see photo). The prices are decent for downtown and the quality is good. I like the they don’t use a ton of rice to make their rolls bigger. The staff are nice and friendly.

The quality of the sushi here is next to none! I can be a little picky when it comes to sushi but I am always satisfied here as they go out of their way to make the customer happy! I absolutely love their yam tempura rolls, everything is so fresh and excellent quality. The staff are all very friendly and the service is prompt and always with a smile. The chicken udon is a perfect warmer-upper and the dons are also great value.

The best sushi I have ever have in my whole life. Before I ate the Spin Roll Sushi, I did not like the idea of eating raw fish, lol. But I changed my mind. They are the best in town.

The place is charming and small. The menu looked appetizing; they had some interesting sushi combos. I was tempted by the tofu and yam rolls combo, but decided to go with something safer. For $ 7, the Spin Roll combo comes with California and Dynamite roll. Miso soup was not included — quite disappointing. The Cali roll was dry. The Dynamite roll was rubbery and cold. It just tells me that the Tempura Prawn had been sitting out for a while. It did not make for an appetizing sushi roll. Everything just lacked flavor. Around this area, it was a toss up between this place or the one a few doors down. I find them in the same ball park in terms of quality, taste and price. So, take your pick!

Awful. Some of the worst«japanese» food I’ve had in a while. Head over a few doors to Sushi Zero One.

This is probably my favourite Sushi place in downtown, quick and affordable. The people are very warm and friendly. I always order the same custom thing every time and the main lady who makes the orders never ceases to remember! She gets started on it even before I order. And for that, I give them 5 stars! Great place to grab a quick Sushi bite, definitely highly recommended!

I accidentally dined here this evening… my plan was to try a highly reviewed sushi place just down the street. I didn’t even realize that I had made the mistake until after I’d ordered and sat down! The food is quite cheap – I saw the special posted by the till that Gaelen N. mentioned in his review. I ordered one of my go-to dishes of tuna & salmon don and for $ 6.50, it also includes a miso soup. There were three pieces of each type of fish and they were quite fresh and not those huge slices that some places give. I liked that they added some thinly sliced cucumber but I found the addition of shredded lettuce a little weird(some nori and sesame instead would be really nice). There’s very little in the way of seating, just a couple of two-person wall-mounted little tables with stools facing the bar and a small counter in the front window. Tea and water is self-serve. Service was quite friendly and my order was ready very quickly. Customers order and pre-pay at the counter. I would imagine this place does brisk business at lunch and it is probably quite popular for takeout. It’s a good place to grab a quick bite on your way somewhere or if you’re dining solo and not looking for ambience.

Not bad for a downtown sushi joint. I popped in on my way home after work and I was the only customer so the limited seating wasn’t an issue. I got the special — 6 piece california roll, 3 piece avocado and 3 piece yam tempura roll. It was cheap, something like $ 5.50 plus tax. And it was ok to eat. I won’t be raving about it. I had to pay extra for miso soup and a drink so the final bill was almost $ 10. If I worked near here I would come for lunch, but when I have more time I’m willing to wait for better quality and taste. #30DaysOfYelp 3⁄30

I visit Spin Roll almost on a weekly basis, I’ve had a variety of their combo’s and I have yet to find anything that was not up to par. It’s a great place for a cheap lunch and has a great staff to go with it. $ 5.95 for 18pc combo, and it’s good. Definitely recommend this one to anyone looking for a sushi place.

Hello my favourite new sushi place!!! Spin Roll is right outside my school, and had it not been for a school mate chowing down on some huge rolls in front of me, I would never have guessed that it totally rules. I’m pretty boring when it comes to sushi, and reviewing it. I get the same thing everywhere I go. But anyways, there is a noticeable difference in price when I order my usual meal here, and with Urban Sushi on Granville where I used to practically live. My total comes to around $ 10 at Spin Roll, and about $ 13⁄14 at Urban. Uh. I get the exact same thing. The best part? The portions at Spin Roll are way bigger. I’ve never had Inari Nigiri stuffed so full anywhere else. You can tell Spin Roll is awesome by the lineup they have during lunch hours. ALSO, not only are the staff really smiley and pleasant, they are FAST. No more waiting 15 – 20 minutes for a freakin’ avocado roll. Seriously, they are doing something right at Spin Roll. LOVE.

My first time here but I will definitely be returning! Fast friendly service. I got the Salmon Sashimi & California Roll Combo and it was delicious. Very fresh and well presented for takeaway(sashimi was on a bed of lettuce with a fresh lemon slice). I might try one of their cheaper options next time, perhaps the lunch special that everyone’s raving about.

This is my favorite sushi place for lunch and you can usually find me here atleast once or twice during the work week. First of all, I love this place as everything is decently priced and the service is very quick. They offer all of the typical sushi rolls at a cheap price. The spicy tuna here is really good and I usually go for the spicy tuna roll($ 3.25) which is made with avocado. Another favorite is the spicy tuna don for $ 6.50 which also comes with a miso soup. For downtown prices, this place is a steal. The sushi is always good and fresh and I definitely like this place better than then sushi joint down the street.

Small sushi bar. Staff was friendly and the sushi was fresh. My meal was prepared before I finished paying. Good sushi for a cheap price.

Do cheap and quality go together very often? Not usually, but here they do. The space is tiny, but the service is fast and friendly. We enjoyed the spicy tuna(extra spicy, full of flavor!), California and sweet potato rolls as well the nigiri. The quality and size of the fish were perfect. I love a large piece of fish for my nigiri but hate the awkwardness of it, so this was perfect size and great taste. My only complaint is that I wish they had the low sodium soy sauce, the regular really detracted from the flavor! If I worked in this area, this would be a no-brainer for a lunch stop for me.

I’m very fond of Spin Roll Sushi. It’s close to my office so I eat there often. The staff are always friendly, the food tasty and the prices are reasonable. There are several other sushi joints along this strip but I always come back to Spin Roll Sushi.

Your basic hole-in-the-wall sushi joint in downtown. Reasonably priced, clean, polite but quiet staff, full of students and business people for lunch. The two rolls I had, while in theory should be different, tasted very very similar. They were quite good, and not old tasting at all, but just… unimaginative, generic sushi.
