Best poutine around! It might be a chain but they do superb poutine. Try the pulled pork!

I’ve been here a few times out of convenience and despite the big menu, I never feel that satisfied having done so. Poutine is fast food, sure, so my expectations were never haute, but the fries are a little bit too greasy versus crisp, and the gravy suffers the all-too-common sin of having tasting a little too much of cornstarch. Edible for sure, but having discovered better places all within a few blocks also serving poutine(Dunn’s Famous and Fritz European Fry House I believe are the closest), there’s not much of a reason for me to go here anymore.

I’d heard great stuff about Smoke’s, so we made a stop here our last night in Vancouver and loaded up on poutine – traditional, pulled pork, philly cheesesteak, and veggie deluxe. With all of those options, I should’ve found something I liked, but I was underwhelmed. The fries were meh, gravy was overly salty… the whole thing was just a pile of insipid, salty meh. The ambience is solidly fast food-y. Come here if you’re drunk and won’t notice, but otherwise, pick somewhere else!

Whats there to eat in Canada? Well the description was fries, gravy and goodness. So i gave this place a shot and I was really excited. I got the bacon cheeseburger one. First off, it was a huge portion. but way too heavy for my liking but if you are all for that heavy feeling this is your best bet. Shout out to Jon with family in Berekley California for making a connection with an out of towner, good customer service. But I suppose they have good putin.

Ok so I tried this place out with a friend last night that loves it! They have different varieties of poutine, as you can imagine. We both ordered the perogy poutine. It was amazing. The gravy was perfect, and the perogies were an extra delight. We were greeted with great service. He even brought our food to our table, although you are supposed to go up when your number is called. I love the casual environment with classic rock blaring from the speakers. Side note: they are open till 4 am on weekends. Score! You should definitely check it out and order the perogy poutine.

One of the more popular places to go to for Poutine. Got there a little before noon for some lunch and it was not busy at all. Cool little spot located in a busy part of town. Ordered the Philly Cheese steak and Bacon Cheeseburger Poutine. The toppings to fries ratio is on point. Poutine comes in a box so when you don’t finish you can easily take it to go. You know how some places when you get a lot of fries or chips, the topping rarely get to the bottom and you have to eat it plain? Well this place will cover all your fries and each bite is just as delicious as the next. They also pack the boxes and do not skimp on anything at all. You get your money’s worth. The philly cheese steak had good amounts of protein and sauce. It almost tasted like the real thing. It was savory and saucy and brings you back to philly with a canadian twist. Fires were crispy but of course the longer you wait the sauce will be soaked up by the fries. Still yummy. The bacon cheeseburger almost tasted like the real thing as well. It’s like a high class deconstructed bacon cheeseburger. Good meaty bacon and ooey gooey cheese. This is a very good place to come for a meal and definitely recommend to any tourists or locals.

We stopped here while exploring Vancouver on a Friday night. When in Canada you have to try poutine fries, right? Well, if you do want to try them, there are plenty of varieties here! We ordered two types… the pulled pork Mac n Cheese and then the Chicken Fajita meal portions. One piece of advice? Order one size smaller than you think you can eat. These things are rich and filling! There are several options, an no, none of them are healthy! So, have fun and try this place! Come with a group and order snack sizes… then you can try several varieties!

I feel like a bit of a cheat writing this review, as I didn’t eat the poutine, a friend did. But, I can write about the service, or lack thereof. We were there around 10:30 at night, and clearly some of the workers friends were there eating, and being somewhat obnoxious with the staff. The group of friends were then all allowed into the kitchen(about 5 of them) and in full view of the restaurant and its customers, they all started to make out at the back of the kitchen. No business, unless some kind of whore house, should ever really operate in this manner. Walk the few extra blocks, and go to Fritz

Strolling around downtown with hungry friends, we decided to be pigs and pop in here for some good ol’ poutine. I like how there are three different sizes. I ordered a snack size of their original poutine. My other friend got original with vegetarian gravy(nice that they accommodate for vegetarians), the other got the Montréal smoked meat, and the last one got one with three different meats. We all enjoyed our poutines. They were made quickly, served hot, and damn tasty! The atmosphere is sort of diner style. Poutine is served in little boxes that can be used to eat in or folded up conveniently for take out or leftovers. Next time I will be more adventurous and try something else. Maybe the pulled pork poutine… who knows.

Nice and greasy. Had the nacho deluxe. The size and price are really good. The poutine itself isn’t worth a cheat day meal. If you’re not watching what you eat, this is a great filling meal. Good value. Taste wise, it’s average at best. Not the best place in the summer as it is super hot and doesn’t have air conditioning or even a fan.

If you’re not a stickler for the classics, this could be the poutine place for you. They’re really good about their topping to fry ratio. The toppings seem pretty high quality and fresh, especially in comparison to say, New York Fries’ toppings(seriously NYF, rethink some quality control). In comparison Smokes has a good distribution of stuff in their poutines. Lots of cheese. Lots of flavour. In general, Smoke’s is not bad, not bad at all. Whether or not you’ll enjoy your order is entirely by personal preference. They have such a variety of specialty poutines that you really have to give this place more than one try before you can be sure you don’t like it. So why three stars? The basis of a poutine is the fry. This fry is less delicious than some other fries. That is all.

It’s not great poutine, but it’s decently good. I’ve had maybe 8 of the poutines here. In general the ones with a mass of meat and cheese can’t really be screwed up. Options with the zesty flavours of avocado and tomato are safe bets too for the more veg-inclined. Some of the more experimental choices(looking at you, Perogy Poutine) are best left unsampled. Blaring 80s pop-rock warning, get it to go if that’s not your thing. Pro tip: Seeing a number of Social Shopper vouchers from these guys in 2015, $ 11 for two meal-sized poutines. Entertainment Book 2015 coupon for buy-one-get-one up to $ 8 off is about the same deal on meal-size servings.

Had the Nacho Grande poutine today, tastes like I am eating nachos but with fries. I’ve been here numerous times before, probably come here at least once a month. It’s one of my favourite poutine spots, better than Fritz nearby imho and has way more seating. There are many poutine options and something for everyone, even vegetarian. Only downside, if you want water, you get a dinky little styrofoam cup.

You probably have seen someone holding a yummy box of Canadian poutine while watching the Canucks at Rogers Arena and wondered where they got it from! Smoke’s Poutinerie recently opened a new location on Granville Street in downtown Vancouver’s Entertainment & Clubbing District. Smoke’s Poutinerie is opened late from Thursdays to Saturday until 4am. So next time you find yourself at Caprice or the Vogue Theatre, you won’t need to cross the street to Frites Fries just to get a Double-Smoked Bacon Poutine anymore. There are 30 types of poutine to choose Smoked Meat Peppercorn: Shaved Montréal smoked meat, mushroom and peppercorn gravy. I liked the mountain of mushrooms and the spicy peppercorn seasoning. The fries were crispy with plentiful cheese curds. Your choice of steak, sausage, or chicken. Philly Cheesesteak Poutine: Flat iron steak, roasted red peppers, sauteed mushrooms, caramelized onions and cheese sauce. I love how much stuff was in this poutine and that it wasn’t too salty!

Kind of love this place. Regular poutine was pretty decent, but the nacho one was my jam. Gravy, salsa, sour cream. Jalapeños, the works. It’s awesome. Huge portions. Decent prices. Guaranteed to make you feel massive after.

Located on Granville. Stopped here before a concert at the Orpheum. Tried the triple pork poutine. Even though the place was empty, it took 10 minutes for the food to come out. Looked like the guy in the back was eating his own poutine. Poutine was ok. Normally I like my poutine plain with no extra toppings. Dragon boy is a fan of pulled pork, bacon and sausages so I ordered this thinking it would be his ideal poutine. Pulled pork was good. A bit sweet but a nice balance to the salty gravy. Bacon wasn’t as crispy as expected. Sausage was my least favourite part. Overall an ok poutine. Fries and gravy were probably the best part. If you have the choice, fritz all the way.

Not bad if you have never been to Quebec, but its franchise level Poutine. The fries arent brown, but golden. the gravy isnt dark, but light brown and the cheese curds a little too consistent to be true. However, for someone who lives in the states and has to either pay hipster douchbag prices for ‘gourmet’ poutine that tastes nothing like poutine but some artistic variation thereof — this is just fine. However, if its 1am and you happen to be loaded off your head, havent had Poutine in years but have a serious bout of munchies following a concert up the street — its beyond fantastic.

The poutine here is tasty … for a while. To be honest, I felt like the portion is far too big and they made it seem like it was more of a meal than a side or a snack. Since this location is situated in the party district of downtown Vancouver, a lot of their customers come here for a snack after partying and/or still drunk. I agree with the other reviews saying that the gravy is quite weak and the poutine overall is mediocre. I feel like I come here just for the novelty of having a million toppings on my poutine and taking an amazing photo to show my friends. The poutine overall is very filling and I would recommend you to share with friends… many friends. Also, I don’t really like how the poutine is sweet… I feel like the gravy that they use is very strange and makes the dish sort of like a dessert? The fries were actually pretty good but if you don’t have good gravy, you won’t have a good poutine! Oh yeah and the thing I actually liked about the poutinerie is that everything is so hot so it makes the cheese curds melt. I know that«real» poutine should have squeaky cheese curds, meaning that you eat it when the outside is hot and the inside is still kind of cold but I honestly don’t really like that! I love the stringiness of melted cheese curds so if you like that as well, maybe you can try out Smoke’s Poutinerie!

[Post-Party Poutine] After an evening at the Roxy, I needed food to fill the giant alcohol-filled pit that was my stomach. I stumbled into Smoke’s Poutinerie purely out of convenience than a tactical Unilocal-certified mission. Short story: The poutine is just mediocre. My bacon cheeseburger poutine came in a cardboard to-go container and was the size of a softball. The cheese curds were pretty solid and waxy but the bacon, gravy, and cheez whiz drizzle were hot and tasty. The underlying fries were crispy and fresh. Considering the fact I was partially drunk and completely starving, this meal didn’t taste as good as I expected. The beer goggles were definitely on(for food that is) and I wasn’t overly impressed. The café itself is decently sized with seating for 30. They had some kind of retro theme throughout the place though I didn’t(or couldn’t) really pay attention to it. Given that it was a Thursday evening, there were a fair number of people — mostly post partiers with the occasional sketchy dude loitering about. Value-wise, it’s decent enough at $ 8. By no means was it a filling meal but it stopped the stomach grumblings — at least until I could get to a Denny’s or Timmy’s. If you’re partying along Granville, you can’t go wrong with this place but in all other scenarios, there’s other places you could go.
