Very warm and cozy bike shop. They treat you like family. Their service and repairs are Fantastic and Affordable. They also rent bikes with helmets and locks.

I am going to submit this review to direct my message to the Manager (Simon) who I’ve had dealings with on a few occasions. I’m quite angry but will do my best to make this a civilized entry.
I first walked into this bike store back in 2008 when I was looking for a hardtail. I ordered a bike from them since it was 15% at the end of the season. Promised that I would get a call once it arrived, I didn’t so had to call the shop to confirm before picking up. This store is quite busy and if you are dealing with customer service, it is not too shabby — the staff are friendly and will ask you if you need help. However, Simon is another story. It seemed to me that he was interested in just prompt service — the mentality to just pay for what you’re here for and then get out is what I felt like I was being treated as.
So I looked at my new bike, was happy with everything and paid. He rang the transaction through the till and then I realized he threw away my receipt in the garbage pail by the front counter! I asked him to dig it out for me since this was a $ 1300 bike. This was really odd behavior. In fact, he has a pretty odd personality with the occasional distasteful joke.
I’ve always been into bikes so have called this store and inquired about their stock throughout the years. All the times I have spoken to Simon, he’s always tried to get me off the phone or was in a rush to deal with the next customer.
I spoke with him yesterday about a bike I wanted and he put me on hold. After a minute, he said that he would call me back about it. But he never took down my name or number. He just pretty much blew me off the line.
I am perplexed how many 5 star reviews this bike shop has. If it was me, I would rank this business as minus 5 stars for the marginal customer service and the weird personality of this owner. Perhaps Simon directs all his fake customer service for all the beautiful foreign women that drop by to rent his bikes while treating all others like crap

We rented twice while staying across the street at the Westin. They seem to only have one rate, around C$ 30 for 24 hours. They close at 6 pm so when we came back late we were able to keep our bike in the Westin’s garage and return it the next day.
Simon is a no nonsense guy who knows what he’s doing, gets people in and out. The shop isn’t big so he doesn’t encourage chatting but he does want to make sure you have what you need and the equipment fits. Once you get used to this you will have an excellent rental. The quality of the bikes, helmet and locks were on the mark. We compared his prices to others we saw during our ride and he beat them all, especially the ones on the outskirts of Stanley Park.

I first went to Simon’s upon the recommendation of a co-​worker as I was looking for a bike repair place that was close to Yaletown. I went in for a tune up of my old bike and ending up buying a new one, better suited to my cycling needs.
If you need your hand held and head patted by your bicycle repair person and you want to hear how awesome you are while receiving a lot of kudos for being a cyclist, this might not be the place for you. The shop is pretty small and Simon likes to get people in and out with minimal fuss. Small jobs dropped off in the morning are generally completed by early afternoon, and sometimes right on the spot. As I purchased the bike from Simon’s so far the labour for any tune ups and repairs has been complimentary. The shop always calls when the bike is ready to be picked up, and I have never received anything but courteous service from all the employees, including Simon.
The shop also carries all kinds of accessories and gear, with some crazy deals to be found if you poke around a bit.
I never hesitate to recommend the shop to anyone looking for a good bike shop downtown.

Busy shop at times. For $ 30 you the whole sha-​bang, bike, helmet, map, lock, and backpack (if needed) for 24 hours. Simon helped point my friends and & on the route to Stanley Park for the day and we had a blast. In fact we had so much fun we even created a bike collision by accident since it was so crowded, but no worries everyone was safe & sound. Enjoy the mountain bike and try to explore the city!

Went in with my road bike on a Sunday morning to get a flat repaired — the shop was close by. It was busy as there were many tourists in the shop getting rental bikes for the day. Flat was repaired fine, no issues. However, customer service to me as a local was pretty low. Got my bike, went to pay for it, owner (Simon I think) takes my credit card. I’m waiting as he entertains the tourists. He’s wondering why I’m still there. I guess he took the liberty of tapping my card himself, and did not bother giving me the receipt. Dude — tap is like signing, the customer does it. If you want to do it cause you think it is faster, just ask me before you go ahead. Give the customer the card and receipt back, and smile and be nice even if she’s a local. Then say «thanks for your business».

Horrible customer service. Unless staff know you, you rent a bike (which seems to be their main source of revenue), or you look like you have money you will be passed over or rushed through to buy something then forgotten in the shuffle. I’ve seen (and has happened myself) several times people get frustrated with the customer service and just leave. Simon seems like a bit of a scatterbrain. It seems he’s trying to juggle 20 things at the same time (his other business is real estate). Every time I go past I’m surprised this place is still in business. The only positive thing is their good prices. My advice is know what you want to buy beforehand, and when buying a bike here order the bike and pay for it then quickly get out and get it serviced somewhere else.

I bought a refurbished rental here. Although Simon’s refurbished rentals were more expensive (by about 10%) than other other stores Simon’s bikes come with lifetime maintenance. Lifetime! Service adds up really really fast. When I do get things done the charge is parts only. Having cycled for years I know service can be half the bill. And not cheap service either. I probably get as good a tune up from Simon’s as any other shop. Friendly owner and some great mechanics (and like other bike stores some pretty good but not great). Very pleased with my purchase. I’ll likely purchase a more high end bike there when I have the money.

I came to Vancouver for the weekend with my girlfriend and Simon was the MVP of our visit. We rented a pair of bikes from his shop and he was knowledgeable, helpful, and funny. You can rent a bike, helmet, and lock for just under $ 30. We had a great day riding around the city and our trip wouldn’t have been nearly as amazing without his help. Can’t recommend this place enough.

I came in to purchase a Specialized commuter bike and although being between seasons and low in stock, Simon offered me a $ 100 discount on brand new 2015 models currently in transit from the manufacturer. And furthermore 20% off on accessories. Service has consistently always been exceptional at Simons, including his staff; while other bike shops, including Dizzy’s has fallen in a downward trajectory in past few hears. i’d say only Reckless can match Simon’s level of service.

Best bike rental place you could ask for. Simon is so knowledgeable about the city, super nice guy, and hilarious. $ 30.00 for a bike, helmet, backpack, lock, map, and a ton of great tips.
I highly suggest coming here for your rental needs.

I picked this place because it was the closest to me at the time and I was pleasantly surprised! After waiting for the people in front of me to finish asking all their dang questions, I told the counter dude that I needed two bikes rentals and he got me out the door in less than 5 minutes. Being an avid bike rider, I was super appreciative of this.
Bikes were comfortable and were great for moderate hill climbs in and around Stanley park. When returning the bikes the next day, I got stuck behind another couple who kept on asking a bunch of questions. It’s a bike people! All you do is get on and peddle!
Bike rental was $ 25 for 24 hours including lock, helmet and backpack.
Tip: Bring the bikes inside when returning, make eye contact with the counter dude and tell him you’re returning. The process for returning took less than a minute but I wasted 15 minutes waiting for the people in front of me to finish.

Great spot and centrally located, so no need to trek all the way to Denman for a rental.
Not sure if I was dealing with Simon, but whoever it was was an absolute pro. In fact, this was probably the fastest and most hassle free rental I’ve ever experienced. From the time I walked through the door to the moment I cycled out of it, no more than 10 minutes had passed. And with that, I was equipped with a killer bike, a helmet, a super durable lock, and a bike map of the city.
Very cool place. Really good service. And only $ 25 per day (24 hours, none of that 9 – 5 nonsense) to rent a pretty sweet ride.

Simon’s is kind of awesome. Twice now I’ve had a wheel rebuilt with same day service. During the summer season when most of my regular north shore bike shops are booking a week ahead this place has been a gem for quick and efficient service.

No problems here. Everything with my bike purchase and set up went smooth. Prices were good, assembly and adjustment was fast and accurate. We talked about the weather I tried to beat him down in price and he politely said he was as low as he could go. Great deal!

During a recent visit to Vancouver, my husband and I rented a couple of bikes to ride around Stanley Park and Granville Island. Simon’s Bike Shop is conveniently located downtown and we found it with ease.
The rental process was a cinch: $ 54 got us 2 bikes, 2 helmets, 2 locks, 1 backpack and 1 city map for the entire day. This was definitely one of my favorite activities during our visit. Vancouver is a charming city, that is designed to be explored on bike. There are plenty of broad bike paths wending throughout the city, which really made me feel safe.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Simon’s Bike Shop for your bike rental. The transaction was a breeze and the price wasn’t bad either.

Simon’s was a wonderful place to rent bikes for the day. For $ 25 you got a bike, a backpack, a lock, a helmet and a great map with all of the paths to follow.
The owner was fun and really helpful of where to go. He suggested a ride over to see some beach volleyball that was taking place.
Vancouver is an awesome city for biking. They have lanes and paths designated specifically for bikers and lots of people are using this mode of transportation.
Simon’s was much cheaper than a couple other shops we looked at too.

Their job is to fix bikes. This, they do. I brought in my bike on my way to work and said I think I needed a tune up, and I also kindly asked if they could put my bike rack on because I had no idea how.
When I came back in the afternoon, the nice bike mechanic told me that I didn’t actually need a tune up — but there was a glitch in my gears. So they just charged me to put my bike rack on. I thought that was nice!
As some other reviews have said, the customer service could have been dialed up a bit more. But at the end of the day — they fixed my bike, and that is all I needed.
