Specialties
The School of Population and Public Health provides a vibrant interdisciplinary academic environment at a critical time in the development of public health in Canada and around the world. It aims to improve the health of communities and to promote health equity at home and around the world by acting on the socioeconomic, cultural, biological, developmental, environmental and genetic determinants of health and their interactions.
History
Established in 2008.
2008: The School is created by the UBC Senate
2009: Inaugural Strategic Plan is released
2010: The School moves to own building at 2206 East Mall
2011: School of Occupational and Environmental Hygiene (SOEH) merges with School
2012: Several centres and units, such as Aboriginal Peoples’ Health, the Human Early Learning Partnership, the W. Maurice Young Centre for Applied Ethics, and Population Data BC become part of the School.
