I’m so glad we came into the city on a dark, rainy fall day to check out this adorable store. The owner greeted us the moment we walked in but gave us lots of room and time to search through his treasure trove of modern, MCM and art decco pieces. I didn’t find the dining table and chairs I’m hunting for but I did pick-​up 4 silver rimmed highballs (Don Drapering!) which he sold to us for a discounted price! There was a menorah in the front that made me uncomfortable and yet I seem to covet it! I may have to come back and see if it’s meant for me… or just see if there’s any new wares.

Refind is my favourite or favourites. I first discovered it about 5 years ago when it was located in the old Main St. location. The store was tiny and piled sky high with treasures. Bart is a meticulous buyer archivist and has a clear vision of what he wants in his store. He is always open for a haggle and treats customers very well. Now that he has moved back to the original location around Main & 29^th and in a huge store, be prepared to stay there for at least an hour. The prices are more than reasonable, customer service from Bart is always superb, and you will be dizzied by the merchandise. Have fun!

ReFind has moved up Main to 30^th Ave. I haven’t checked out the new location yet, but it’s at 4609 Main Street.

ReFind is Find. It’s like taking a time-​capsule back to 1959 and admiring all the cool mid-​century modern furniture as brand new. It’s great to go and wander around the store every month or so to see what’s new in store.
Prices are pricey for what they are, but the convenience of not looking for teak furniture on craigslist is worth it.
Staff are fun, approachable and knowledgeable about the furniture and trinkets. They were having an art gallery setup with a live band and catering. How they fit a live band into their shop is a magical mystery to me. We also got a cash discount for the sideboard we bought.
When I have more money and a better sense of style, I will definitely go back.

Staff are friendly, laid back and prices are decent, however, I come in here with high hopes and walk out with nothing, very little to impress me. That is not to say that this place isn’t good. I am just not feeling what all the hype is about. It is good for very reasonable stuff that you can DIY and make your own as a project but I find most of the stuff (sorry to say) junk in my world. The owner does have an eye for quality items that fits someone who is looking for something of that era in mind. It does serve it’s purpose which is what Main street needs.

I love this place. I love it. Great, ever-​changing selection of everything from the kitschy to the design-​sublime, extremely friendly and welcoming staff, fair prices, and a laid-​back atmosphere. Bart, the owner, just generally seems to want to offer a stress-​free shopping experience. This is perfect for me because shopping stresses the everloving crap out of me.
After spending my apartment-​dwelling life either living amongst the icky offerings of furnished places or buying stuff from IKEA and then giving it to friends for free whenever I’d move to a different city, I decided it was finally time to grow the hell up and get some sturdy real furniture that I’d have to actually own. This meant that, when I moved, it would have to come with me. Big commitment. Dauntingly adult. Hold me.
I’ve accumulated quite a collection thanks to ReFind. I’m unimaginative and lazy when it comes to shopping so I more or less treat ReFind as a one-​stop shop, and I’ve never been disappointed. I’ve never thought, «Ugh, I suppose I’ll settle for this thing» but rather, «Omg I want this ridiculous/​beautiful object more than anything shut up and take my money.» Delivery is free within Vancouver provided that you’re actually buying furniture (and not, for example, asking to have a tea set delivered). On one occasion, when dropping off a cabinet I’d bought, the delivery dude commented on a lamp I had in my apartment — one that I no longer wanted because it took up too much space. He asked me how much I wanted for it. I said $ 50. He gave me $ 100. I mean, that’s cool.
Bennett Mitten, a Vancouver artist, builds and restores furniture for ReFind. He rebuilt some shelving inside one of his cabinets for me at no extra cost, which again — that’s cool. I own two other pieces of his and yeah, my apartment looks freaking awesome, you guys. I want to cart this furniture around with me when I move because it is great stuff.
Some have argued that ReFind is just a repository of the best that Craigslist and garage sales have to offer. Apart from the original Bennett Mitten stuff — well, duh. But for someone like me, who can’t drive and is a lazy, lazy, anxiety-​ridden shopper, it’s worth my time and labour to pay Bart’s mark-​up. I don’t want to rope driver friends into renting vans to pick up large pieces of furniture from Craigslist and then bust my ass carrying that shit down the stairs of the seller’s apartment. I don’t want to bus out to some garage sale in the middle of nowhere and body-​slam other shoppers to get to the good stuff. If you’re into that kind of activity, awesome — I wish I had your moxie. I’ll let ReFind do the work for me.

Refind is like raiding an old relatives collection of Mid Century, Danish Modern, furniture and collectibles. The best prices on everything and they keeping winning awards for their service. When you walk in ask for Orky to get a deal from the owner.

Warning: Sensory overload is eminent. Do what you must to take in all of the kitch, the Danish one-​of-​a-​kind pieces, the Madmen era lamps, and whatever you do, do not resist your urge to forage through the back rooms. They are a true treat. (Would someone please, please buy the old carnival popcorn machine? Someone deserves it!)
Today is the first day that I’ve actually made a purchase here. I’ve always come in for a quick browse, but what I found in the back room was too remarkable to pass up. A 1920’s surveyors tripod. Score. But really, that’s just one of the many pieces to partake in this cramped, stuffed to the gills – and the ceiling– spot.
Today was also the first time I got a chance to chat with the owner, curator of the funk, Bart. He’s a down to earth dude, with wicked style, who is sincerely excited when something from his store finds its way into a good home. Venture in on a sunny weekend and be ready to feel suffocated with other browsers. Go on a rainy weekday afternoon, and you will have the store and Bart, likely, to yourself.

Hands down the best vintage (in the «midcentury modern» sense of the word) furniture store in town. We’ve got a number of pieces from ReFind over the years (even back at its old location) and we adore all of them. Best of all, unlike the handful of other vintage stores in town, ReFind has reasonable prices and even better, has a completely down-​to-​earth, friendly & hilarious owner, Bart. He even hand-​delivered our enormous desk & helped us get it all set up. Love this place!

What a cute little place! Stacked floor to ceiling high but still organized, friendly staff, and unique items all over! Mid-​century isn’t quite my style in furniture, but as my boyfriend and I have recently decided to East Van renovate our kitchen to be tiki-​themed, stores like this are a perfect place to find some little necessities!
And what is East Van renovate you ask? It’s basically just getting new curtains, repainting and getting new salt and pepper shakers. I didn’t pick up anything here today, but their shelf of tiki mugs, selection of gorgeous 60s wall clocks and black velvet paintings have gone on our list of items to be considered for our kitchen spruce up!
The best part was that everything is super reasonably priced here! I love Attic Treasures on Commercial, but they definitely fall into the pricier end of the spectrum so i’ve never been able to afford anything there. Meanwhile, pretty much everything i saw at ReFind would have been right at home in Attic Treasures, but i’m certain they would have been at least $ 100 more if they had found their way into that store! I’m definitely going to make a point of stopping in at ReFind whenever i’m in the neighbourhood!

I am in love.
And I hate furniture shopping. Really. Always hated it. But I walked into this place and felt comfortable and familiar… beautiful teak furnishings, lovely lamps, old school serving trays. So sweet. Oh and I also didn’t feel personally offended by the mark up!
After finding 2 items I put on hold, I spent the rest of the day on Main and Commercial, comparison shopping and nothing came close. Nothing came close to the options, the prices, the range… but i warn you, it is jam packed up in there. So grab a coffee and take your time to just parouse. So much fun. I swear.
And owner Bart is a peach. His motto… as long as people leave smiling… i’m happy. Awesome.
So if you have a taste for vintage… don’t even bother with all the other spots. Make your list, check it twice, and head on down to ReFind.

Anyone who knows me knows my die-​hard obsession with mid-​century modern décor, and this is where I get a lot of it. I started coming here when it opened because I used to visit The Fabulous Find one store over (they have since switched owners and it’s just not the same). Bart (the owner of ReFind) is incredibly helpful and friendly, and often lowers the price on things. He once held a table I purchases for me for a month, then delivered it. The prices here are far better than any of the other mid-​century leaning antique stores I’ve seen, and it’s just more unique. If you can put up with the Bob Marley jams on constant rotation, you’ll find something here that you can’t live without.
