We specialize in City, Hybrid, Cruiser and Touring bikes. We also have a selection of Mountain and Kids bikes.

Need a repair or tune up? That’s our specialty.

Established in 1986.

Reckless Bike Stores first bike shop (Fir Street) opened its doors in 1986. Today, in Vancouver our three stores continue our tradition of exceptional service. Our growth and success is due to a simple formula-a welcoming atmosphere, good advice, and top-quality cycling products.

Business Owner

Paul Dragan owns Reckless Bike Stores. He’s a guy with one goal in mind. More people riding more bikes, more often. Not just because it’s good business, but also because cycling is Paul’s passion. His love of bikes blossomed when he was a competitive cyclist. Now, that same drive to lead the pack motivates him to make cycling accessible to all and fuels his commitment to making Reckless Bike Stores great places to shop for cycling products.

Like all good leaders, Paul walks his talk, almost always commuting by bike, whether he’s headed to one of the Reckless locations or the many meetings in his schedule. He’s a valued member of the City of Vancouver’s Bicycle Advisory Committee. Most recently, as Vice-President of the Third Wave Cycling consulting group, Paul’s expertise is helping cities and municipalities understand how better cycling infrastructure is a great investment and a perfect way to deliver quality of life improvements and economic benefits to their regions.

Don’t go there, super bad service, waste of time and money. They just try to rip u off, went to other shop and got my bike fixed for ¼ of money. They did not fix my bike at all !

The employees are extremely entitled, judgemental, and have no desire to actually help you. I am new to riding bikes and the last thing I needed was a bunch of strangers who are getting paid to help you, stand there and give you the impression that their help is too much of a burden to them. Not to mention it was promised to be done by the end of the day so I wandered all day expecting a call and couldn’t go home, only to be told after I called them that it wouldn’t be done. Anyway, I should have left from the first dramatic, mocking look the mechanic gave my bike but anyway, go here if you want. I’m sure if I had a hella expensive bike instead of the cheap one I bought as a poor student, they would have treated me better, which is garbage. This ain’t no Pretty Woman.

Bought my bike there.
Months later… I was charged about $ 30 for replacing brake pads (they are just v-brakes). Months passed, went back again for the same job — they charged a whooping $ 65!

We’ve been here a few times and had a half decent experience, but this past week has changed things. While trying to acquire an item they were out of stock for, which was supposed to be coming in soon, the managers or whomever was acting «in charge» at both locations, made it an unpleasant experience. On numerous occasions, we received a lot of attitude. As well as some dismissive comments like «we might unpack those boxes later, but I don’t feel like it now», or «Come back in a month or so! I don’t need to be pestered like this» when we followed up a little while later. There was a general lack of communication and care for customer service. They’ve now lost two customers who are avid cyclists.

Walked in with an unexpected flat tire and got it changed on the spot. There is a sign on the window that says they are relentless about service (at least I think that’s what it said) and that they are! Super friendly and helpful, and efficient!

News Flash: There is no such things as No Flat Bicycle Tires, My Dahon Folder rear tire got a flat although I was able to change the tube No problem remounting the Tire with SRAM rear hub was a bit tough. Reckless Tech Richard was able to remount my tire adjust reinstalled my finicky rear hub,& realign my rear brake same day. Great Shop

Dont vex yourself by going anywhere else, I went to a bike shop closer to my house for Paniers and a bike tune up and walked out and went immediatly to Reckless, wow within 10mins they had me sorted out with the Paniers and let me know how much my bike tune up would be — I was happy to give them my money $ 300 plus, for this kind of service, they followed up with a phone call a week later to check to see how my bike was running — top shelf Reckless, I wish I could give you more stars, you are poster boyz for customer service in Vancouver

These guys were great at letting me try out bikes and gave me lots of advice on what kind of bike I should buy. I ended up buying elsewhere but one day stopped by to buy a bike light. Found one in the discount bin for $ 10 I think but the guy at the counter said. just take it. we’re tired of looking at those! Wasn’t the best light in the world but it still works and it was free. Nice folks there.

This is a great store with good service. I took my bike in there because another bike shop had replaced a broken chain and charged me for putting it on in the neighbourhood of $ 70 and it was not shifting gears well. Lars informed me that the previous shop had put the wrong chain on and it had damaged the sprockets. Lars said that he could fix it and quoted me a price. I accepted the price and then when I went to pick up the bike Lars said that the quote was too low and he had to do alot more work and add more parts than he had quoted. He honoured his quote and repaired my bike. I highly recommend Lars and his shop. He good ethical service. Thanks Lars!

I came looking for a particular brand of bike that only Reckless carried in BC. I spoke with Lars who was very helpful, and completely upfront about prices, and the challenges they had in importing the bikes (brokerage fees, duties etc …) He told me about the models they currently have in stock, complete with sizes and corresponding prices that I could take home and think about.
While I am not sure if I am willing to swallow the $ 250 markup over MSRP by buying one of the bikes they have in stock (instead of just going down to the US myself, and also getting the particular model I really want), I do know for sure that if I do, I will get top notch service and care from Lars and the people at Reckless.

My friend and I went in today to see what we could do about a bike she bought off of craigslist to ride around while she’s studying abroad here for a few months. The bike is in working condition, tires are true, the frame is fine… it’s just old.
The mechanic who looked at it insulted my friend by saying it was only worth $ 25, not the $ 100 she paid for it. Then he proceeded to tell her she was ripped off and she should have rented from them for $ 200/month. They scared her by telling her they needed to overhaul the bike for it to be rideable, which is untrue according to other bike experts who’d looked at previously. At this point my roommate started to cry and we stepped outside for a regrouping/action plan. The 3 shopkeepers saw how upset she was yet continued to make her feel worse as she paid for the work to replace the back tire.
The service is awful and all of the merchandise is overpriced. Do NOT go to this store if you’re looking to meet good people with good bikes.

Been a customer of this place for a long time and am always well cared for.
It’s a tiny space and things are crammed in everywhere (including the ceiling) and it can be crazy busy in season/whenever the sun shines but Lars, Larry, Ryan and all the crew do their best.
I would have rated it 5 stars but Paul the owner is something of a jerk it’s for the best if you can avoid having anything to do with him.

They will never point you to something you don’t need and will go out of their way to put together what you want.

unfortunately i brought my bike for a full 200 dollar overhaul (changing gears and brakes, back wheel) and the young guy totally messed it up. I drove away with a bike worst off than it was. Brought it back and the guy pretended that I replaced good, old parts with cheaper ones that I should not expect to work so well. ??? couldn’t you say so before I did it? anyway I’m pissed so I ask the manager and he’s helpful and an older guy says we’ll take care of it it has just been very badly adjusted and does it all — everything was great after that so
— the young guy did a bad job
— and tried to conceal it instead of asking for advice
+ they fixed it
unfortunately 3 weeks later my pedal fell off — it could be unrelated but I’m gonna bring it somewhere else now except if necessary (it’s on the same block as my work place)
5 stars review 2009:
Very helpful in helping me pick fenders after I drove through heavy rain and got soaked and muddy. Also, they’re always helpful and available and let you use oil and air.

My friend was in the market for a new bike, so I went along for the ride — literally. They let us take two bikes out for a spin on the seawall! The guys working were really helpful and knew how to match their customers to the right bike. And the test drive was a lot of fun!
They also rent bikes out from here, so if you’re visiting the city or if you just want to cruise the seawall on a nice day without investing in a bike that will undoubtedly get stolen at some point in Vancouver, it’s a great place to know!
