I’ve been spoiled by Thuan An; could’ve been an off-day but I wouldn’t come back here for the foreseeable future. Ordered the lemon grass chicken since he recommended this, though it was a huge portion, it was clearly overcooked, thus dry. Lots of veggies, vermicelli noodles. And iced coffee, no way worth $ 3.50; but at least it came w/a straw lol(Thuan An surprisingly doesn’t)

I always wonder how this places survives, as every time I come by, the place is 100% deserted. Okay, I take that back. Today we saw 1 other take-out customer. The guy behind the counter looked super-happy to see us when we came in. I don’t blame him if he’s been idling away for the last 6 hours. Parking is available on the street out front at night. Not much competition here. Today we came in for Vietnamese coffees. Can’t get enough of these things. They were served with quite a bit of condensed milk, which made them a bit *too* sweet. The washrooms didn’t smell, but they were kinda gross. The urinal flusher didn’t even work, but I didn’t want to tell the guy. As I didn’t eat here today, I can’t comment on the food. One thing that IS surprising about this place is the fact they accept both Visa and MasterCard. Don’t see that too often.

YUM Fortune. Fate. Phở. We were driving by and looking for somewhere to eat on Kingsway. My Unilocal bookmarks led me to a Vietnamese place that was closed, but this was open! So we decided to give it a try. As often happens, my honey and I ordered the same thing. Chicken, shredded pork, and a Vietnamese roll on vermicelli. It was served quickly and hot. The smell as it was placed in front of me was AMAZING, I was eager to dig in. I finished every single thing in this bowl and almost licked the bowl clean. Check out my meal and tell me if that doesn’t look absolutely delicious… They have a nice selection of drinks as well. I went for the Vietnamese coffee with milk. My honey went for the sour plum soda. We will definitely return.

I love phở, good broth, good meats, and fried food. I go to phở restaurants to enjoy these things but, I did not find any of this here. The phở is acceptable. The broth tastes processed and not house made, too much salt to hide the lack of chicken or pork flavour. The meats were not seasoned. The spring rolls were crispy but were not drained properly and arrived on my plate with oil from the fryer, the filling was not seasoned and tasted like it was previously frozen. Fortunately, the price is right which makes this food adequate if you are starving and don’t want to cook at home.

My wife and I were fiending for Vietnamese and had intended to go to My Chau but didn’t have any cash on hand(cash only), so we tried Phở An only 2 doors down… turned out to be a great choice. We had Phở with beef balls, spring rolls and Lemongrass pork/chicken on rice. All the dishes were fresh and tasted great. Talked to the owner briefly and found out they’ve only been open a couple months and hoping to increase their business. Yah the décor is definitely cheap-looking, but aren’t most Vietnamese restaurants? Sure, the menu is a bit more limited than other places, but I suspect that since they’re so new, they are focusing on the best dishes they can provide. We’ll definitely be back.

Went last night for a steamy bowl. Phở came fast and was very fresh. Chicken Phở was very good as well as regular Phở. Tendon and tripe were tender. Place is new so it was empty but I think this will improve. The place is under new management and I think they will make a go of it. They are offering 15% off as a grand opening special.

This used to be called Phở Hoa Sinh. They have new owners, so new management. I am disappointed and this is why: –It looks like they literally copied the photographs from the Phở Hoa(24 hour place on Kingsway) for their menu items –The offering is not the same, the menu is smaller and they do not offer my favourite seafood phở anymore –NOONEISEVERINTHERE. This was like this before, but this place was dead. We even wondered if they were open when we went in –No water offered at all, just tea that goes cold after a minute Amongst all the phở places on Kingsway, I really don’t see how this will stay open for long, but that is just my opinion.

I love Phở to me it is my go to comfort food when I am feeling down Phở, when I am feeling up Phở. So when I was taken here last year on a date, failed date mind you I was smittened not by the date but by the Phở. My date was born in Vietnam and we drove 30 minutes to get there so I had a idea it was great. I returned recently with a couple of friends in hope of showing off my phở detection skills and was hoping I would not be disappointed and was not. It was spectacular big cheap great broth, tons of noodles. And i of course ordered rare beef with brisket. I also ordered extra tripe and tendons because that is what to me is the icing on the phở cake. For me it is the best Phở in town and I have tried many. I am sure there are better ones, but so far to me this is the pinnacle of soupiness. We also had the crispy pork skin rolls and WOW just WOW. The décor is 80’s porn, and it is fun to spot the other odd décor. The staff is friendly and helpful to the new to Vietnamese food visitors. Do yourself a phở favor and eat here. Also have the iced coffee to top of your day.
