So it looks like this place has undergone some change of management. There are new staff working here(looks like a mom, dad, and daughter). The hours have changed as well(it now closes 0400 or 0600 instead of opening 24h). There are new menus, with nice carved(embossed?) wood covers. As for the food? It has changed for the better. Special mention goes to their chicken wings. I was just expecting the typical fluffy battered variety, but these ones are juicy, and their spice mix is like crack. My friends and I were blown away. This dish alone is worth a trip out, and would give Phnom Penh a run for their money if they had a similar lemon sauce. They feature a new beef satay sauce rice noodle soup dish. It’s so special that it doesn’t even have a number like all the other items on the menu. Satay anything is good, and this is no different. Admittedly it’s mostly the same bun(Vietnamese vermicelli) as the other dishes, but it’s satay. And did I mention it’s satay? The curry chicken is surprisingly similar to HK style. I don’t ever remember seeing any curry dishes when I was in Vietnam, but what do I know. Nice and flavourful, wiht plenty of green bits and crushed peanuts on top. The rice just was enough to soak up all that curry goodness when dumped in. The chicken was nice and tender. Upgrading this place to 5 stars. We have a new winner. Recommended.

A couple of my buddies and I stopped by this establishment around 10pm for a quick fix. I ordered the Phở Tai Sach, friend #1 ordered Phở as well, and friend #2 ordered a rice dish. Friend #1 and I contracted food poisoning, and I woke up at 4am later that night to puke my guts out. Luckily for my other buddy who ordered the rice dish, he was fine. There must’ve been something rancid in the broth or the meat. The broth even had a slight chemical taste to it. The service was akin to that of a typical low-end Asian restaurant. It took like 10 minutes to receive a couple of napkins I asked for. And even then, the server(middle-aged nammer mama) didn’t serve us napkins till I went to the counter to ask again. Food is decently priced, I guess; but, needless to say, I will never be returning. I’m appalled at how many 4 and 5 star reviews there are. Either Truong Thanh had a bad night, or the reviewers on here are delusional and misinforming. I’d like to think the latter.

Coming here with Team Fam after a late incoming flight, I ordered the Phở Tai Gan(Vietnamese noodles with rare beef and tendon). The broth here is extra oily looking but it’s full of flavour. There were hardly any pieces of tendon in my large bowl which is a shame but there was an average amount of rare beef. The noodles weren’t too brittle but they weren’t too chewy either. Average at best. Compared to other places, this was better than Thai Son but not as good as Song Huong and of course not as good as Phở Ngon all in East Van. At 2AM though, those other places aren’t options, and this place beats any chain of Phở Hoa in the world. Let the operating times attract you here, but not the food.

Pretty good food. I had lemongrass chicken(bun ga). Super quick. Clean kitchen(I peeked while paying my bill). Nothing super special but way, way better than the 2 other late night Vietnamese places I’ve been in Van. Late night go here but there’s better during the day.

We arrived in Vancouver late last night and was looking for something opened at 2 in the morning. Did some Unilocaling and wa la! Found this Vietnamese restaurant that was open till 6am!!! I ordered 13B which is beef phở with rare beef and beef meat balls. It was tasty but it wasn’t better then my boyfriends free range chicken phở. The broth of their chicken phở is probably the best I’ve ever had. Yes, it beats my moms chicken phở LOL. I was very surprised with how busy they were at 2 in the morning. Customers after customers. Rated this 3 stars because before I even ordered, I asked the waiters if they accepted card and they both said yes to debit. As I stated before, I came to Vancouver late last night and couldn’t exchange my US dollars to Canadian. I swiped my debit card and luckily I was familiar with using the card machine they had there. The server/cashier did not know what he was doing! Then after the receipt printed out APPROVE, he said that they do not take US card. I told him to void the transaction and of course he didn’t know what the password to the machine was. SMH!!! He told me that he could exchange my US dollars to Canadian but he couldn’t even avoid my transaction. Um yeah right man! Better luck next time bopping someone else!

Definitely one of my favourite viet restaurants. They have a good menu with lots of choices! My favourite is combo a/b(rice/phở with salad rolls/spring rolls). It’s a good place for late night eats too, just make sure not to come around 3 – 4 am unless you just left the club like the rest of the crowd. Service is much better than other viet restaurants I’ve been to, considering how busy it can be. Not super clean but not entirely dirty. Cheap prices and good food, so can’t complain too much. Also a good take out restaurant if you can’t stay to eat!

You can never go wrong with this place so good and gets better each time! Try the chicken with spring roll and rice noodle vermicelli. The rice with chicken is good as well. My picture is better than words. And Vietnamese coffee is the best!

This place is amazing for late night phở. The staff are really nice and really pay attention! I dodnt expect much but was very surprised. I got Phở Tai(standard I know). The broth was flavorful and not full of msg which was nice. Although msg was present. There were lots of green onion and cilantro. Broth was hearty and delicious. The noodles were well cooked and didnt stick togetjer! Super good. The meat was perfect. Not fatty, thin sliced, full pf broth flavor. All in all Ill be here again lots! One of the better phở Ive had in Vancouver :)

My friend brought us here because we needed a late night, cheap dinner fix. It was past 11pm and this place is 24 hours so we decided to give it a try. I love Vietnamese food but I’m not gonna lie, most of the soups taste the same to me. This broth did have a little bit of a different taste, there was a kind of cinnamon-like flavor to it, I can’t quite describe it but it was pretty good. I wasn’t blown away but I wasn’t unsatisfied. I usually judge a good vietnamese restaurant on their salad roll and peanut sauce so I will probably have to come back if it’s a late night and I’m in the area looking for a place to eat. The service was surprisingly pretty good — The lady sat us right away and even if it was almost 11:30 it was pretty busy. She was quite pleasant trying to chat with us as we were paying so the service wasn’t terrible — because most asian restaurants, especially 24 hour ones could care less to make any conversation with you. Overall, I’d probably go back if i’m closer the area and need a Vietnamese fix in the wee hours of the morning. Will probably have to try the salad rolls and give you a more up to date review.

I’m so sad about this place. :( The broth changed to a dirty water consistency, the noodles are soggier and bland, and meat was mediocre. Even the spring rolls have changed to a less meatier filling. The owners claimed to have stayed the same but it’s way off now. Only good thing is that they remembered to not add cilantro.

I can’t wait to move back in the area and eat at our favourite phở place. Bun bo hue is flavorful and fantastic. Salad rolls are awesome and fresh. Phở soup broth is the best. Service with a smile and open late!!!

My hubby is a huge fan of Phở and we always have Phở when we want a simple quick lunch. We tried many Vietnamese restaurants in Vancouver, my hubby picked this one to try… But, I really suspect if the restaurant open for 24 hrs and how good it can be??? Well… I may be wrong this time and this is the exception! The restaurant was simply decorated but looked ok. I found the floor and table was quite sticky but the staff was so friendly. We noticed the menu slightly different than other Phở places and it has a lot of varieties such as deep fried fish cakes and crab paste phở. Anyway, both of us ordered phở and roll combo: Bun Bo Hue(Pork Hock, Beef Flank in hot spicy soup) The soup flavour was different, the meat was good, the noodles was great, it tasted not like those you have in the normal beef noodle soup.(Very similar in LA Phở flavour) Phở Tai, Bo Vien(Rare beef and beef ball noodle soup) First thing I did was taste the broth while it is still the hottest. The broth was light and full of flavour. Cha Gio, Goi Cuon, Nem Cuon(spring roll, shrimp salad roll and minced pork roll) It was ok coz the salad and minced pork roll was premade and a bit too cold and dry. It’s good to find another good phở place to go!

They played Vietnamese Christmas carols! That deserves an extra half a star! In regards to the Bun Bo Hue, it was a huge bowl, there was a lot of meat, a lot of chili oil and the noodles were a bit skinnier/thinner than other places. It definitely had a hole-in-the-wall feel to it and for whatever reason I had a tough time finishing my BBH. We were the only ones eating in there and it felt very awkward when the owners/workers decided to have some kind of argument right then and there. I didn’t even feel compelled to return again to try their regular Phở or other items on their menu. The only reason why we came in here was to try something different. But… if you want good consistent Phở, I’d say stick to Mui Ngo Gai. Overall, 2.5 stars.

There are several reasons why this is my top place for Vietnamese food. First of all, Truong Thanh is a family run business, and the owners really put their heart into the customer service. Even after the second or third time I went here, they already remembered me. I always like when you can directly support small business owners like this. Secondly, it is open 24 hours, so whenever you get a craving for late-night phở, you can always be sure they’ll be waiting for you. Not to mention free parking both on the street, and a couple of stalls behind the restaurant. Thirdly, the value for money is excellent. So now we’re talking about great service, great prices and great convenience. I usually go for the Combo A(Soup + Roll) or Combo B(Rice Plate + Roll). Keep in mind that you can substitute any same-priced phở into combo A, and any same-priced rice plate into Combo B. I ordered the coconut shake a couple of times too, and that really hits the spot as a good way to finish the meal. Definitely one of my faves in town.

One late Saturday night, after several pit stops, we were craving for some noodles. Using my trusty Unilocal app, I came upon several listings on Kingsway. I called Truong Thanh to make sure that they were open, since the listing showed that it was closed. «We never close!» a friendly lady answered. Found parking in one of the numerous street parking spaces available around that area quickly. It’s a small place, seats around 30. It’s also surprisingly clean. I ordered a bowl of bo bun hue, and contemplated for the longest time whether or not I wanted one of their many flavours of fruit smoothies. I decided against it, for the well being of my stomach. My bo bun hue was actually quite good. The soup, had a fragrant lemongrass flavour, and a good amount of spiciness. The bowl of noodles, came with a good amount of meat and noodles. When it came to payment, we had to ask again whether or not they take credit card. «Oh, we take everything.» the same friendly lady said again. So there you go, a place that serves decent phở, never closes and takes every sort of payment. 11⁄100; The Unilocal 100 Challenge.

It was almost 2 in the morning and the girl and I had a hankering for a bowl of soup. While we’re usually satisfied with our regular after hours joint, we wanted to expand our horizons. I’m glad we did. She ordered her regular flank and rare beef with no cilantro and I ordered the #20 with fatty flank, tendon and tripe. We tacked on a shredded pork salad roll at the last second too. That turned out to be one of the best things we could have done. Simply the best shredded pork salad roll I’ve ever had. It had caramelized fried onions in it! Nummy! With a steaming hot, flavorful broth and tons of noodles and meat, the soups sure did hit the spot. Will definitely return. :)

I’m told this place is under new management. I never came here when it was run by the previous owners, so I can’t compare in that sense. Unlike the vast majority of reviewers here, I came here during normal hours, so my opinions aren’t at all influenced by hours of clubbing, when often, anything open will taste good(Dennys, I’m looking at you). The food is reliable. The banh mi pâté sandwich was decent, with a generous serving of deli meat, though a bit heavy on the mayo. The fried chicken wings have some great spices on them. The wrapped Banh Bot Loc(Vietnamese Clear Shrimp and Pork Dumplings) were good for a restaurant. The phở did not disappoint. Not amazing. Not bad either. Worth a return visit. During the day even.

Came here the other night to try their bowl of noodles. I heard it was 24⁄7 so I had to drop by after an amazing event of clubbing. It was fairly busy and it was loud in there. It is hard to hear each other with the annoying loud music playing in the establishment, and it drove me insane… The parking wise wasn’t as great as I thought… there is parking behinde the building but the spaces are everywhere. It was weird, so I parked onto the street beside the establishment. The waitress was very nice to me and my friends. She was smiling and always happy when she was talking with us. She instantly gave us tea and the menus as we entered the place. The only thing I didn’t like as much as I thought was the bowl of phở… The only place where it needed a lot of change was the bowl of phở. I ordered a regular stable bowl of phở(Raw Beef slices with Tendon) and it was not up to my standards for a bowl of phở. The raw meat was extremely not delicious. The meat was very low quality, atleast use medium quality if you want people to be satisfied. The meat was extremely chewy and flaky. It felt like the meat has been soaking in the broth for way too long. T_T Over cooked meat with raw beef? I don’t understand… And the tendon were all small pieces and they were the bad boney types too… they were hard in the middle… UGH. The only thing I actually like that I ordered that night was the Vietnamese Sandwiches. It was cheap and delicious. I think I will be ordering their sandwiches here from now on. The quality of the bread is mediocre, but it’s the grilled meat in the middle that made me drool… Perfectly grilled and seasoned pork. Overall, I love the service, the place is clean, take out the loud annoying music and make the phở a bit better please… I LOVE the sandwiches, so for sure coming back here for that.

This is a 24 hour phở place — but I think I like it more than Phở Hoa, Kim Penh Xe Luam, or Gold Train Express. Service is pretty good and they treat their regulars very well. They screwed up my friends’ order and profusely apologized and offered to replace it — which is a pretty big deal in a Viet joint. In my experience, most joints will just tell you to «deal with it». Obviously, you lower your standards with a 24 hour phở joint — but nothing amazing or offensive. But at time of day I visited, my judgment was impaired. But nothing seemed vastily amiss with my phở dac biet — good enough for 3-stars. And think I’ll be dropping by again for my late night phở fix.

* Disappointing phở house on several levels * I’m always suspicious of a place that toots its own horn. Their sign reading, «Best Vietnamese food in Vancouver» was a bit of an eyebrow raiser. The series of professional photos by a rather new Unilocaler was another. But there were many positive Unilocal reviews from established reviewers so I figured I would give it a shot to see what I was missing. I ordered my typical test of phở tai gan(phở with rare beef and tendons) to see how it stacked up. The garnish plate arrived first and it was a positive sign with very fresh and generous amounts of basil, good looking sprouts, chili, and lime(is the lime shortage of 2011 over finally!!!). Photo: But when my phở arrived it was a bit of a disappointment. About half of the«rare» beef was overcooked and clumped. There was one smaller piece that was still properly rare, but the bulk were rubbery chewy brown crumpled up ball of beef slices that had all melded together when cooked. Disappointing. The one small piece of truly rare beef was ok, but not the best cut. Overall the beef was quite disappointing. The tendons were decent, but there were only 2 very small pieces. The broth, which was highly touted, was also disappointing. It was excessively oily with big pools of grease floating on top. It was as if they hadn’t taken the care to nurture the broth while building up flavours — it was a very one dimensional flavour. The noodles were also slightly overcooked as well to the point of almost being mushy. 2 stars overall for this bowl of phở — there are much better options available at the numerous phở houses in the area. Photo of phở tai gan: and close-up of the ridiculous oil pools and overcooked«rare» beef: Meh!
