Every last Friday of the month, they have a spaghetti and meatballs dinner! And it is so amazing. The meatballs have a hint of preserved lemon zest in them which I love. Fresh soft and melt in your fingers focaccia bread. The portions are huge and I always share with a friend or two. Not many people know about it but enough that it gets very packed by 7pm. People call in and order their spaghetti special for takeout. They also sell brown paper package ice cream/sorbet and ice cream sandwiches and they’re soooooo good!!! My favourites are chocolate Thai basil and lemon ricotta cheese. They always have a dinner + sundae combo for $ 20 and it’s a really good deal!!!

I wholeheartedly love this place. I’m always greater with a warm and inviting vibe. The food is heavenly and always made with love. The focacia is probably the best I’ve ever eaten and if there’s a pain special go for it you will not disappointed. The meatballs and spaghetti nights are a must. The deserts and ice cream are delicious too.

Small little neighbourhood business serving up Brown Paper ice cream treats, feature pastas, and a section full of groceries and knick knacks. I can’t believe I haven’t stumbled into this cute little shop sooner considering I live so close by. The cardamine almond ice cream sandwich was friggin’ amazing and hands down some of the best I’ve ever had. Creamy, fragrant, and not too sweet. My mouth is watering thinking about it again. I was browsing through their fridge full of savoury goods and asked the owner about the ready-made soups. She was like, «you know what? Just take one.» Say wha!!! Thaaaaaaaankkk youuuuuuuu! It was a curry chicken rice soup and damn was it ever tasty. Friendly service, locally owned and a great selection of quality products. You bet your ass I’m coming back for more.

Small selection of hearty, freshly made food that blends Italian influence with occasional Chinese inspiration. Food is well priced with ample sized portions. Groceries and supplies(and ice cream!) also available :) Mia is doing a great job with this place! Be sure to stop by to try it out

One of my favourite places ever. I moved away from Vancouver a few months ago and today I woke up just absolutely craving it. I have never had anything that wasn’t delicious from here. Like ever. Sometimes I would drive across town just because the Instagram post looked so delicious. THOSEICECREAMSANDWICHESARENUTS! Pro tip: follow @pazzochow on Instagram and check what the daily specials are before you go to make sure it’s what you’re after(it always will be but just to be safe)

So good! Lovely owner too. Went for lunch, best meal I had in ages, I went back for the spaghetti and meatballs the same day, luckily it happened to be on! As others have mentioned, check instagram to see what’s on the menu for the day! :)

WHAMMY maple ice-cream sandwich… As I am a maple sirup gal… GOAL! Also the dry pasta I bought was… Definitely AUTHENTIC! I tried the spaghetti for here and it was good! The only thing is the place is microscopic… I ate on the patio outside… But no carpet or faux-grass… Nope. The table are right on the side walk… Not really intimate and not the best area in town… As I walk by when they are closed… Bums are sitting sometimes right where the tables goes… And I doubt that they clean the chairs and tables at the end of the day… CLOSEDONSUNDAYSANDMONDAYS. Fair enough of course… Small business staffs need a break too!

Food is great but the price gouging is brutal, greedy, and absolutely insulting to the community so minus three stars.

I love it here. Fresh, simple, intimate and balanced. Follow on IG to see what they’ve made that day. Great selection of dry pastas, jarred sauces and imported oils.

Most of the reviews here are for their ice-cream but I went here purposely for their food. I was craving for Italian one day and I was thrilled to find one nearby. I had their special to go and it was mm mm on point, hit the spot. It was penne pasta with tomato sauce, fresh cheese, garlic brocollini and a side of home-made focaccia bread. Omg, so delicious! Oh yeah, for $ 8 inc/tax, I was stuffed and satisfied! Please follow their instagram for their daily specials. I always drool over it. =)

This review is just on BPP’s(Brown Paper Packages) ice cream sandwich. I had Maple Leaf flavour(maple ice cream with a vanilla maple walnut cookie). The scoop of ice cream is pretty big for an ice cream sandwich but who’s complaining? The only complaint is the price on this thing. At $ 5.75 flat, you can get cheaper ice cream elsewhere but it is definitely worth a try. It is not too sweet and the walnut gives it a nice crunch/texture but it is messy to eat. I wouldn’t recommend eating this while walking. Located on Keefer Street in Chinatown(same building as Floata Seafood Restaurant), it is pretty accessible by skytrain and there’s paid parking.

As others have said, the price is steep. Pazzo Chow carries BPP(Brown Paper Packages) ice cream. 2 decent sized scoops in a cup will set you back $ 8-even. That being said, the ice cream is unbelievably delicious. Very smooth and flavorful. The coconut tastes of toasted coconut. The chocolate cardamom has just the right hint of spice. It’s a spectacular treat to get on a sunny day and take to the park. They could probably get a solid line out the door if they reduced the cost of their scoops even by 0.25c. A solid 4 stars for friendly service and great product.

I almost don’t want to reveal this little gem in my ‘hood but can’t help it! Don’t get me wrong, I love being in Chinatown and love all the Chinatown food but it can be hard to find good reasonably price food that’s both healthy AND delicious. Until now! The menu changes every day but the theme is generally some really good pasta and some amazingly delicious and healthy salads. You can sit inside or outside on sunny days. Oh and the ice cream sandwiches are delicious but on the steep side at almost $ 6. I could eat there every day!

This might just be the best new addition to the ‘hood. I love everything about this place. Follow them on instragram for delicious specials. I love everything I’ve had so far! My favorite take away item is the pizza dough. It makes the best pizza ever!

Solid 3.5 stars. Perhaps the owners read Wendy’s review, as I was lucky to get 1.5 scoops, who knows, maybe because I asked for a cup instead lol. Generally I do so I can keep my hands free while working, as they do have a tiny communal table. Tried the espresso biscotti, had the right bits of biscotti which ultimately overtook the espresso. In this part of the hood, and being near the soccer field, it’s worth a repeat as not much around here. Will try their pizzas and pastas though, as every day they have a different theme. Also sell pasta sauces so not bad gift ideas. Unbelievably, they accept AMEX.

The only«food» I had was the olive oil lemon flavored gelato so that’s all I am going to comment. I truly love your gelato. I like it more than Bella Gelateria or Ernest Ice Cream. I love the well balanced tangy-ness and I love how it’s not too sweet. I love the firm texture. But $ 4.25 for a scoop? Wow, that’s really steep. I have never encountered anyone selling one flavor of ice cream for that price and gives literally«ONE scoop». The norm is one flavor, but at least a good two scoops. If you want to sell just one scoop, that’s fine, but not for $ 4.25. You make me hesitant to go back. Very hesitant.

I came here on the first day it was open to realize that they serve homemade gelato. Yay! We finally have that in Chinatown. They opened on April 1st, 2014 which was a really nice sunny day. It was perfect for some gelato. I went to check out their instagram and their website to find that they are famous for their ice cream sandwich. Which would be awesome cause I was craving for one. Went inside this small little shop and realize they only have 2 flavours because it’s their first day. It was either mint or chocolate with peanut butter. I went straight for the chocolate with peanut butter and man I made the right decision. It was really good. Hard to eat cause I wanted to eat it like a sandwich and it was stacked high. Asides from that I haven’t tried their other stuff but the instagram photos makes it look really good. I give them 4 stars based on the ice cream sandwich that I had. Will go back to check out their other stuff and food.

* New Italian * In many cities Chinatown has expanded into the old Italian neighbourhoods(I’m looking at you, San Francisco and New York). Here in Vancouver the trend reversed just a bit today. This new Italian spot opened up on the edge of Chinatown. They have a single table inside and 2 outdoor tables. There is a small grocery section with a nice selection of pastas and other imported goods. They also serve up ice cream and a few savoury lunch choices. The special for opening day was fagiolata($ 10 per bowl) which was served with a piece of focaccia. The focaccia was freshly baked, and fluffy. It had nice course salt and overall was a good job. The fagiolata was a bit different than any I have had before. It was topped with raw kale, and I believe the fagiolata itself didn’t have any meat in it.(At least I couldn’t identify any.) The base was white beans with a rich tomato sauce. They placed the raw kale and some shredded hard cheese on top. Then they drizzled a bit of sage oil. I found the fagiolata to be a bit one noted. It could have used some meat flavour to make it more complex, and perhaps a bit more garlic. I also would have enjoyed a bit more in terms of herbal flavours. It tasted very pure tomato. I felt that $ 10 was over priced for the quantity and simplicity of what was served. Photos: and Overall the place holds promise, and I hope they get their legs and a little bit of balance in the food — and perhaps adjust their prices or portion sizes to match.
