Needed a bite to eat so grabbed a hot dog — and added cheese and bacon 1 $ more, not worth the money really poor topping. I highly recommend 7 – 11 over NY.

So these guys were advertising«free» fries with their loyalty program for National Fry Day. Turns out, they ask you to pay«tax» on something that should be free. Anyone else finding a problem with the business model here? Sorry guys, you just lost a 3-year customer.

I love New York Fries. I love POUTINE! I don’t know when I started liking poutine but I’ve always loved fries. I used to think the gravy and cheese ruined the fries, but now, I’ve been converted. But, still, the main ingredient, the POTATOS, and the fries have to be REALLY good and they’re really good at NY Fries. So, one day, as I was enjoying my usual straight up poutine, I’m staring at their ad on the paper liner that they always give you at fast food places. Blew me away. It said: ONE-OF-A-KIND, LIKE A CROQUETMALLET WHITTLEDFROMAN EDWARDIAN BEDPOST So strange, so quirky, made me enjoy my fries even more… haha. Apparently, my friends say, I can’t just eat poutine for dinner, I need some other vegetables… what? Potatos are the best! And even better when they’re done right. ps. sometimes they make them too salty but I ask them to hold the salt.

Face it. No matter where you are getting yer fries from — as long as they are cut up genuine potatoes — sometimes you are gonna get a batch that’s mostly the skin side. NY fries poutine is good. The sauce is not thin and the fries are well done. Plus at this location you can people watch the horrors of Oakridge and pretend it’s Christmas because that’s usually the only time you are in a fucking mall.

a bit torn; why does it have to be in such a great location? i’m trying to avoid it due to health reasons but every time you enter/exit, one whiff of it makes me go back lol. I realize it’s not La belle Patate quality but no other poutine in this area.

I’ve been to so many New York Fries because I’ve been a fan of it for some time now. Other than this, I’ve been to the one over at Metrotown, Capilano Mall, Pacific Centre, and Richmond Mall, and I have to say that every single one of them has had the best tasting fries out of all the other fast food joints I’ve been to. Granted, it might not be the best because I’m sure there are places that has better fries than theirs and I do have to say that Arby’s Curly fries is definitely one of the better ones out there if compared to NYF, but the point is, NYF has some of the best fries you can eat besides Arby’s. Also their poutines is delicious as well. Often times I would get a more than an adequate amount to suit my needs in each portions. :) Lastly, their prices is somewhat in the high end just for french fries but if you also include the tastes that they had made for it, I would say it’s more than fair to be charged more than $ 5 after taxes for a large regular fries.

If your just looking for fries, and want the better stuff, and a business that just makes their money on the potato goodness in food courts, like the one in Oakridge, and I have to say they have a big stall, then this is it. Whether you just want regular plain Jane fries, or the messy poutine’s, they got it, and if you got a friend with an ‘Entertainment Book’ in their car, you may want to find the coupon to go 2 for 1. They make them fresh to order, so none of that red ray of light food hanging around the bottom of a metal pan while some sorry sap buys them, gets to their table and gets limp fries, that would be wrong now! I’ve seen them put the potatoes in their chopper and then throw them in fresh oil. The fries come out in bright colors, and that just means they are using clean oil. One thing that wasn’t great on the customer service side was when we went to make multiple sauces for our large order of fries we received the infamous ‘stink eye’. Like really now? Come on, you realize how much a potato cost? You realize how much sauce like ketchup really cost, what are you the protector of small bins? You also realize that you are charging a premium for your fries, where I can pay very little at the A&W booth just a few stalls away? That being said above of the bad experience, they do have good fries, served in their signature checkered paper cups. The poutines aren’t bad either, and if your looking for finger food, what better than some potato goodness, hopefully you don’t get the ‘stink eye’ when your mixing a number of your brews of dip!

Did you know there is a ‘Proper Way to Eat Poutine”? This according to my very wise daughter, the Queen of Poutine. Here is a quick summation: 1. With your fingers eat any un-gravied, un-curded fries that stick out from the edges of the bowl. This ensures the correct amount of gravy and curds for the balance of the dish. It also gives the dish time to ‘breathe’ or in this case: ‘melt’. The curds need to soften some and if the gravy is too hot, you will burn your mouth and kill your tastebuds. 2. Proceed to eat the rest of the dish as combined forkfuls of curds, fries, and gravy. New York Fries provides some of the best local(if you’re a Canuck) poutine for you to practice your technique.

They recently rolled out the butter chicken poutine and the braised beef poutine to their roster. These are decent but i’d stick to their classic poutine(add their california seasoning to dip in yummmm) or their«works» fries. Yum. Sorta $$$ for what you’re getting, but throw in your SPC card and you get one free with the purchase of a drink! That’s more like it!

Making poutine since 1989. Its in the mall! This just reminds me of Robyn from HIMYM… Cheese curds, brown gravy, and fried potato slices… who thought that’d be good? As far as my expectations they aren’t amazing like I thought they’d be. But I prefer white to brown gravy. The only thing that throws me is the name. You can’t be like«maple leaf fries» or Canadian fries? Guess that doesnt’ sound as good.

Thank you Canada for Arc’Teryx and Poutine! You guys can keep your Roots though: P Poutine has given me a whole new view of life when it comes to french fries. How can you not love french fries topped with cheese curds and hot gravy!!! Maybe add some bacon and butter chicken? Yes, NY Fries does that to! Poutine Truck?

With its distinctive black and white checked packaging, New York Fries has long established itself as a necessary component to any place that could deign to call itself a food court. As much as people try to resist it, their dark gravy and«fresh» toppings have everyone clamouring for more. Other than their classic fries, they serve poutine(Quebec’s famed contribution to Canadian cuisine – some even refer to it as a «delicacy» or sorts), veggie topped-fries(tomatoes, cheese, sour cream and green onions) and the«works»(pretty much the same thing as the veggie but with bacon). Hearty, grease-filled, salty… it’s sure to sate any fast-food craving.

LOL @ this being called«New York Fries» and serving poutine. The fries are good. Nice and crisp and not too heavy. I decided I had to get poutine even though the picture only showed fries in gravy with a few cheese curds sprinkled here and there. But when I ordered it it was absolutely packed with those gooey things. Yummy! Too bad I didn’t have room for lunch afterwards. :mad face:
