This is a great shop! (I wonder if the reviewer«JodyB» has the wrong place, it looks like she’s in England.)

I’ve been going to this small, unassuming optical shop for a few years now, they give me a good deal on contacts(I think I pay $ 40/box) and their prices on frames are very competitive, with a pretty hip & unique selection. I always find a few pairs that I really love… actually, last time I went in and bought the first ones I tried on, which is a first for me… ! As other reviews have noted, it’s a bit cramped in there and they’re not much for the«razzle dazzle» as someone noted in his review. But the owner is very kindly and helpful, as long as it’s not too busy in there he’ll take his time to show you as many pairs of glasses as you have time to try on. You won’t feel like you’re being rushed through by someone who doesn’t really care… He’ll go behind the counter and pull out a drawer full of EVENMORE selections that you didn’t see before, and pick out a few that he thinks would look good on you.

Contact Lenses Only: Ever really thought about how awesomely sci-fi contact lenses are? I mean, it’s a small, circular disc that conforms to your eyeball and corrects vision. If I had a time machine, I could venture back and blow some old timey minds with that. That being said, as technologically savvy as they are, there are places I would suggest purchasing them, and there are places that I would not. Unfortunately, I didn’t share Betty & Kenneth’s experiences so this place — I would not. Unless constrained by time and or distance. This is right around the corner from me so I truly wish I thought higher of it, but it seems I am cursed to not be lazy in my every day errands. The spot is cramped and disorganized. Haphazard. Which is similar to my ol’ fav Your Choice Optical without the lovely service that makes it acceptable. And the prices are high — $ 50 per box for my prescription. $ 100 total for 3 sets. Whereas I can buy the same for $ 60 at Your Choice. Even Walmart, when desperation strikes, comes in lower then this spot at $ 90 for 3 pairs. So if you live in the area and your time lost in travel can justify the price hike, have at it. But otherwise, i’d venture elsewhere.

One thing that ordering contacts thru the internet like off Clearly Canadian can’t provide is… customer service as to what you really need. The owner was very patient w/my questions & the best part was no pressure, even offered me 2 – 3 different samples from different brands to ensure that i bought one that fit me the best. I absolutely will say you have to try this mom n pop store first before you go anywhere. They won’t razzle dazzle you with their storefront or interior décor but at least you’re not paying for his renos lol

Don’t be fool by their unassuming appearance. It’s been a staple of Main Street since I was a kid. They have a good selection of eye glasses and lots of hipsters like to go to New World Optical for glasses that have a vintage/retro look. The owner is very nice and knowledgeable. He and his sister would take turns minding the store. They still have a good selection of modern looking eye glasses. I bought a few pair of of regular eyeglasses and sunglasses from them over the years. Their prices are really competitive. These days I buy contact lenses from them on a regular basis. I know if I need a new pair of sunglasses, I know where I should go.
