Musette Caffe

My boyfriend and I have lived across the street from the Musette Café for almost a year and this was surprisingly our first visit! Good Unilocal reviews caught our eye. The staff was friendly and knowledgable, and the décor is unique. We got sandwiches and they were very fresh; a little pricey, but then again I can imagine the outrageous costs to run a private coffee shop.
Unfortunately this location is closing on December 1^st, but come Spring they will be relocating to a space underneath our building! This will be our go-​to hangout/​study spot for sure.

Fantastic coffee. Friendly service. I’m not even into the cycling scene, but I loved the atmosphere. Owner has clearly put a lot of love into his shop. Recommend!

This is a cyclist 5 star destination. There are better beans for me but add in the location, cycling and the staff then you have a destination.

2. a café from cyclist heaven. race décor, cycling gear, a shop, a place to park your wheels, a place to refuel. perfectly pulled espresso, foamed milk, drip brew and then some. excellent pastries to go alongside or a sandwich if you fuel a little more sensibly. lemon loaf and apple turnover are both fantastic. pistachio cake is not far behind. beans from 49^th Parallel and Pallet roasters. friendly baristas. and plenty of ‘the Tour’ screening on the tv.
Come for the coffee, stay for the spandex

Best café we found in Vancouver. If you like friendly staff in a locally loved establishment you will love it. Had a wrap, egg muffin, and lattes everyday on our vacation. Great coffee done with style.

Tucked away in a small alley, café musette is a little gem among the construction rubble. Unfortunately they will come September to a location close by.
The staff is very knowledgeable about coffee and their bikes. The entire café is inspired by cycling and bikes. Different «musettes» adorn the walls and other bike memorabilia. Still, this place is great for non-​velo-​afficionados as well. The coffee is top notch, the ambiance is great and the food is all made/​baked in-​house. The scone had a pretty interesting flavor, cheddar furikake? Whatever it was, it was delicious. I usually get black drip coffee as this place does it extremely well. This place also boasts free WiFi and even a kiddie table for your young ones, equipped with toys and coloring books. All in all, best coffee in the area without the usual pretentious coffee snob vibe.

In an alley and a «hole in a wall». Had a macchiato and one of their pistachio danishes. The coffee was great and the pastry was excellent.
They have tons of cycling stuff they seem to either have collected from others or themselves.
Glad I found this place.

Was bemoaning the lack of good coffee shops in my area within walking distance, did a search on Unilocal and found Musette. Was a mini Hardy Boys adventure to find the place but well worth it! Excellent americano, best I’ve had in a while. Can’t comment on the food or seating as I didn’t stay, but I’ll be back for more coffee. Hope they can keep the business «rolling» in that odd location. If you hate bicycles you will not enjoy this place, as that’s the whole theme.

I only discovered this place when I noticed signs pointing into the alley. Well I ended up here 2 days ago. Walk in and it’s quite clear there is a cycling theme here.
Decided to get the soup and sandwich combo. The service I was a little disappointed. It wasn’t busy and I was not acknowledged by the staff despite I being at the front counter and checking out the food. Also, it doesn’t help that their sandwich/​paninis were not labelled.
Good thing the food made up for everything. I believe the soup of the day was a kale soup which tasted healthy and was better than I thought. But the winners were definitely the sandwiches/​paninis. Too bad they weren’t labelled so I can’t really say for certain what it was. The were toasted in such a way that the bread was crunchy and still soft and everything inside just went so well with one another. Hopefully someone can recognize what it is from my pics.
Would I be a regular here? It’s hard to say at this point. But would i come back? Absolutely!

Absolute gem of a place. Hidden away in an alley with a nice cosy-​industrial esthetic.
The espresso is amazing, best-​in-​city amazing. It’s also got nice baked goods, good music and is pretty close to the perfect little café.

what a unique place its all about Bicicle but not too buy ;) is a great littel coffe place with a nice littel selection of homemade food. The Stuff is allways super friendly and it will be my place here in the morning ore for a quick lunch.

I am so happy I found this hidden gem in my neighbourhood. Best chocolate croissants in this city. (May contain hazelnuts for those with allergies) and I love the iced americano I grab almost everyday!
Also best staff I have ever seen in a coffee place, they are all so sweet and genuine.

What a great niche place, but unfortunately it may not be here in 6 months. With construction all around and the impending noise and dirt, the oener says they will have to move.
The cappuccino was stellar. The bike Active club is organized from this location.
Oh yes and a musette is the bag they pass the food to the riders during the race.

Just landed here and I’m happy already… even with the warning notice about limited laptop use.
This is a bare bones shop that caters to cyclists, hidden in an alley behind Burrard. I’m currently marooned in this neighbourhood which is surrounded by Tim Hortons and Starbucks and hotel coffee shops — so finding Musette is a GODSEND. Chill vibe, funky music, fit guys in tight bicycling pants, eclectic décor — for anyone who likes Jet Fuel in Toronto, you will be at home here.
Good coffee, and the pastries look amazing… there goes my resolve.

The only real Italian caffé I could find in Vancouver, offering dreamy cappuccino and perfect ristretto shots from a fully manual machine.
And… it’s cycling themed?
And… it’s hidden back in an alley where cars can’t find it but cyclists can?

Away from the main roads, cycling from Richmond to Downtown via the Cypress Cycling Route and across the Burrard Street Bridge, Musette Café was a much needed and convenient pit stop.

A little obscure to find but once you’re in the alley, there is no mistaking where the café is with its distinctive celeste exterior. Bike friendly outdoor rack is available and I highly appreciate the indoor bike storage, especially considering so many bike thefts that happen across Vancouver. (A pretty secure bike with decent locks looks like… Locking your frame and front wheel to something strong and secure, lock your back wheel and frame together and finally lock your seat to your frame as well)
Once inside, my eyes were doing double takes on lots of bike memorabilia, vintage musette bags, foosball table, celeste themed cups and coffee maker, and my favourite was the celeste handle bar cashier and vintage Bianchi road bike displayed on a pair of antlers. enough said, this place is cool!
Shifting into something even more cool, they have a good range beverages and edibles! Lots of pastries, sandwiches, yogurt, protein bars and gluten-​free choices. My friend is gluten-​intolerant and he had good selection to choose from, he chose the banana bread and a latté and said they were both good!
I chose a chocolate croissant with a dusting of powered sugar ($ 3). Before diving in for a bite, I was able to clean my grimy hands with the available wet wipes at the tables — hygiene win! The chocolate croissant hit the spot of savoury and sweet, flakey pastry with creamy rich chocolate filling. I really wanted to try their London Fog but it was too hot to have a tea, so I opted for their free water, gotta love free!
Note: There’s a small store inside where you can browse and purchase some trendy cycling stuff and also, there is apparently a bike repair shop at the back, so you can have a food break while your bike gets fixed! Now that’s service!
Overall, a great café to reenergize your stomach and rest your cycling legs while keeping your bike close. You’ll be seeing my 2-​wheels back here for sure!

Awesome caffe. One of downtown vancouver’s best hideaways. Very chilled and relaxed atmosphere. A cut above the average coffee place.
The coffee is great and I highly recommend the sandwiches, especially the prosciutto, fig, and provolone.
