Mr Pet’s

If you’re looking for basic pet supplies, Mr Pet’s is great. However, if you need something specific or not as common, it probably wouldn’t be my first choice. For my picky cats, Mr Pet’s never seemed to carry the brand or flavours of food they needed. Like I said though, for basic pet stuff they’ve got a little bit of everything. Staff are always friendly too!

A good collection of pet foods and toys etc. They carry the food that I now call «kitty crack» because my cat literally follows me into the kitchen and miaows like a wild beast every time I go in there — just in case I’m going to feed him… *eye roll*
The staff are chill and will help if you ask — they used to be a bit friendlier but there’s been some turnover in the past couple of years.
The prices are fairly reasonable and they have a pretty wide range of items. They now have a selection of very pretty dog biscuits by the counter, too!

All of the staff that I’ve interacted with were amazing & caring. I was at ease with the staff immediately because they’ve treated me as if I’ve been coming here for years.
They were willing to help and bend over backwards to help for my unique situation. Highly recommend coming here!

I’ve got nothing bad to say about the store itself. It’s very well stocked and the employees are very friendly. My only real issue is with the owner/​manager himself who was rather «chilly» towards me from the very first time I went in. He’s quite friendly and gregarious with all the other customers until it’s *my* turn at the cashier. Once I’m next up to pay for my purchases, his smile disappears and he stares at me with thinly-​veiled hostility. He takes my money and then mumbles «thank you», while avoiding any further eye contact. I don’t know why he’s like that since, as far as I know, I’ve never done anything «wrong.» Maybe he hates people of color or something. At any rate, there are plenty of other pet stores in Vancouver where I’m treated with respect so I don’t go to this place anymore.

This is the most helpful and informative staff I’ve encountered in a long time. They helped me with dog food, an anti-​pull leash that works like a charm, and also got my dog a fashionable Camo sweater. I appreciate having Mr Pet’s around!

Came here to buy a gerbil, after wanting one for a couple of years. I was also buying a cage for the gerbil, which said on the box that is was a gerbil cage, I’ve had lots of gerbils before and it was a way bigger cage than if ever bought before, they wouldn’t sell me the gerbil because the cage was too small. They told me that one gerbil needs a twenty gallon tank. Everything I’ve read said ten gallons is enough for a gerbil. No attempt to show me what cages would be appropriate. Very disappointing. Wouldn’t reccomend. The staff were vey unhelpful and condescending of me,.

I drove from well out of town to buy a ferret here because of all the great reviews this place gets. I thought a small shop would treat their animals better than a big box pet store. When I got there, after having called ahead, I found the ferrets were kept at the back of the store, in a glass aquarium well removed from any social contact with visitors. I was told that I could not so much as hold a ferret and they were being kept under «lock and key» for their own safety. The ferrets were for buyers only. But how can I commit to an animal that I’ve had no chance to interact with? I left sorely disappointed.

Cute place on the Drive that sells fresh Pet food for your cat and or dog. Owners are friendly and are animal lovers and pets are welcome into the store. Good quality of items at a reasonable cost.

Worst customer service I have come across. If you ever have returns and a complaint of the product you get the run around. I had purchased two smoked bones on Thursday the aug 8^th. My dog got sick for two days on the smoked bones in that you get in the fridge and I call friday and the staff on the phone says he went to check the bones and they looked alright and if my dogs had bones before. Said he can’t do anything cause I would have to wait til sunday My dog has had smoked bones numerous times and this is the first time my dog has ever been sick of non stop diarreah. He askes me how soon did I give him the bone an I had said inside the store. All I wanted was even a store credit that Friday even cause of needing to buy stain odor removal for his diarreah everywhere. On a side note I even had to go to another store to purchase stuff so my dog wouldn’t be sick anymore. I called again today aug 11^th 10:30am was asked to put on hold for the manager, I waited 10mins and no answer so hung up thinking maybe they forgot me, and kept all morning trying to call and nothing but answering machine. I leave a message and still no return as its 3:30pm now and so I call the store and the same guy answers the phone, I ask him can he take my number as I’ve been calling all morning, as well as left a message and was even put on hold for a very long time. And he askes what’s this is concerning, I tell him the bones I had bought, my dog didn’t even finish the bone «didn’t even make it to the bone yet itself» and it still has meat all over it” he says no one ever has made a complaint if I want to speak to the manager and get her attention I would need to go to the store. Out out all the pet stores I’ve been to this is the worst run around I ever have come across as other pet stores wouldn’t keep turning things around to think it was the customer. I will never shop here again!

You get what you need for your furry little buddies and the staff are great. I learned a lot about proper cat-​feeding here, and the litter prices are excellent! All in one stop.

Good deals on cat food.
It’s not the neatest store but it suits the Drive. This is my usual cat food stop because I can get better quality food than say, Safeway. I also enjoy the frequent buyer program.

A nice Pet store in the heart of the Drive.
Not very big, but enough products to make your little fury friend happy.
They have a good food selection and few good toys.
I just find that the cashier ladies weren’t the most friendly person ever. I was trying to get some information to do a good purchase but it was pretty poor.

Great pet shop that has an amazing selection, good prices and nice staff. I go there because they are only pet shop that carries «natural» dog food for my dog.
The staff have always been friendly and give other ideas on great products for my dogs and even helped fit him with a harness.
Although I live downtown I frequent Mr. Pets because of the great selection!

Nice staff, good prices, and a wide variety of cat stuff, which can sometimes be hard to find.
Any time I’ve asked for advice, including when my kitty had 6 more kitties, they were helpful and knowledgeable, and never try to upsell me on things, which I appreciate. Open decent hours, which can sometimes be an issue on the drive.

If you are looking for a pet shop that sells tiaras this is NOT for you. they lured me in with a coupon on the back of my Safeway bill, and I am glad I did

Ohhh mr pets! What would I do without you? I have been going to this store since I moved to Vancouver, and wouldn’t even think about going to another pet store.
They carry everything you could need for a dog, and there other sections look pretty stocked too. I have three dogs with sensitive diets, and I always can get the food they need here. As well as helpful products, such as the thunder shirt which has pretty much saved my home from destruction. My one dog has severe separation anxiety and rain (the manager) showed us this fantastic dog shirt. It basically works like a shirt for the dog to feel like a straight jacket does to humans. Ever since owning the jacket my dog no longer suffers.
The staff here are always friendly and go out of there way to help you. Rain who I mentioned earlier, is the manager is awesome. She gets to know your pets, and is great at picking out new products for my dogs. What else can I say, I love mr pets!

Living right by Mr. Pet’s is awesome! I am a bit of a fussy cat mom and my cat is a bit of a fussy princess– we could definitely be the subject of a nature vs. nurture debate– so i used to have to go to two different stores to get everything i needed for her… but not anymore! They have tons of super high quality brands, some of which i’d never seen in any other stores and have since sworn by!
I should tell you, i’m the sort of person who shudders at the thought of feeding any pet the dried, cheap crap you can buy at Safeway. I mean, if i’m going to eat healthy (instead of eating a 3kg wheel of brie cheese, which is what i’d rather be doing) then goddammit, my cat is going to eat healthy too. You can buy cheaper cat food at Safeway, but then again, you can also buy Kraft dinner at Safeway. Buying your pet food from Mr. Pet’s is like you choosing to buy from Whole Foods rather than Buy Low!
Aside from a really great selection of healthy pet foods and natural health care, Mr. Pet’s also has super great staff! Everyone there is really friendly, and recently one of the staff and i had a serious discussion about how sometimes wet cat food actually smells really good when you’re hungry. I think one star in this review comes entirely from her not backing away when that topic of conversation came up.

Decent selection, reasonable prices and knowledgeable staff who seem to really care about animals. My only gripe is every time I go in there they are out of my rabbit’s bedding in the size I always buy (Most likely due to it’s popularity) but the last time I was in there the sales lady who helped me suggested I buy the obscenely huge bag, which in the end did save me money. I would recommend this place to anyone who has pets and I usually go out of my way to come here rather than any other pet store.

The good: clean store, lots of variety of products, decent prices, good location.
The bad: They sell small animals from breeders. This is so irresponsible when there are animals living in shelters, literally dying, waiting for a ‘forever’ home. Makes me wonder how much they really like animals in the first place.
Also, just the word «selling» animals sends a bad message, kinda like animals are mere merchandise — on the contrary — some birds can live up to 50 years, cats and dogs can live 12+, they require, money, time, care, attention — hardly just something you can bring home and put in the closet.

More than just fluff. (i.e.- Paris Hilton might get Tinkerbell a collar here, but there’s no designer puppy sweaters!)
One of my dogs has a sore spot on his neck from where his old collar was rubbing. So after years of wearing his blue collar out, it was time for a new one. I was kind of thinking about a green one.
I was driving north on Commercial and saw this store, even from outside, it was easy to see a large selection of collars and leashes that they have hanging up on the wall. So the next I returned. Oh my gosh– forget a green collar! They had so many cute designs. I deliberated over a burgundy color with a dog skull n bones print or a light blue with dogs and fire hydrants on it. (Went with the blue– on a coin toss.)
The selection was great, I even got a new collar for my other dog. She got a brightly striped collar– pink, yellow, orange, green… Looks like a stick of Fresh Stripe gum.
