Cassia Cupcakery

The vanilla cupcake ($ 4) was dense and moist but not overly sweet and the icing was also much less sweet than I’m used to. Overall a decent cupcake, but I’m not sure that I’m hankering to go back.

I am personally not a big fan of cupcake. This place makes cakes as well. But the cake kind of tasted like a cupcake. So came to a birthday and the host bought the cake here. Its quite adorable because it was a superman cake. Basically a blue cake with a cape. Cool. But it works well for a 1 year boy.
So the cake was not overly sweet but had quite a bit of icing. It definitely tasted like a cupcake.

These cupcakes are hardly worthy of deliciousness. I bought a variety of the mini ones — the icing was overly buttery and lacked flavor. Ok, we get it — it’s buttercream, but if you can’t taste the difference between butterscotch frosting, and red velvet frosting (which by the way, should taste like cream cheese!) then we’ve got ourselves a cupcake conundrum. The actual cake was meh — each tasted the same and a titch artificial. No bueno.

I love this place!!! I use to go very often because I work near and I really love the hot chocolate that they make!!! It´s a real falvour and also the cheese cake!!! I bought one for my boyfriend´s birthday and It was a success!!!
And the customer service is very good as well! I totally recommend it

Went and bought a 12 mini cupcakes yesterday. While the cupcakes themselves were tasty, the icing left a lot to be desired. I asked for cream cheese icing on a red velvet cupcake and the frosting was scooped on rather than placed beautifully like the others. It tasted mostly of butter and vaguely of cream cheese. I love supporting independent businesses but believe Cupcakes is a much preferred restaurant.

We came in toward the end of the day as we just happened to be eating at a restaurant just a block away and we were surprised to see they were open. Immediate props! Everything looked amazing and sounded tasty where we wound up taking half a dozen mini cupcakes and 1 regular so that we can try a little of everything.
Whelp. I never thought you could make tasteless (not even sweet) desserts, but here we are. I was really disappointed. The last thing I wanted for my birthday was to discover that you really can mess up cupcakes. My sugar-​free fat-​free coffee had WAY more flavor than these though they did look tasty and were inexpensive. Despite the low price, I feel like my special occasion «sugar splurge» was wasted; I’m sure they weren’t intended to be «healthy» low-​sugar desserts which is why it was so odd that they lacked flavor and sweetness. As another poster mentioned, all you can really taste is butter.

Don’t bother coming here for cupcakes. The frosting was just heavy, way too much butter and not enough flavor. The cake part was ok. Not much else to say, but it’s over priced for what it is too.

Best cupcakes in the city. The cake is actually moist and fresh unlike most bakeries that have a more dry cake. White chocolate on a vanilla base is the best kept secret in town.

I’m so surprised to see low ratings here. This is my favourite cupcake place. I can’t pass by without buying them. The cake is actually moist (which you just don’t get other places). I like the icing and they have great flavours and a good selection. I had the day old ones once, and they were not as great. The key is to eat them fresh I guess. I give this place a big five stars.

I don’t understand why it’s so hard for cupcakeries to understand that a huge key to their success is ensuring that they only sell fresh, flavourful cupcakes. The ones that I had from Cassia were stale and tasted very bland. Honestly, Betty Crocker mixes produce a better tasting cake. The icing was also completely underwhelming. The final straw is the fact that the cakes didn’t even look nice. As another Unilocaler pointed out, they look like something a 12 year-​old made. You need to step up your game, Cassia! Right now, location is the only thing working for you.

Stopped by to pick up a single cupcake for a birthday surprise. I got a gourmet cupcake and got red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting. I was a little dismayed as I was expecting some fancy piping done or something. But the girl just scooped up icing from with an ice cream scoop and plopped it on. At least she offered to put some sprinkles on. This regular sized cupcake was over $ 5. The cupcake was tasty, however overall its fairly unremarkable.

I thought the cupcakes were good. I liked the variety and the icing and texture. When I went I received good service. I thought the icing was better than the chain «cupcakes» which is very stiff and buttery.

Was excited to see that they had a gluten free cupcake because that «other» cupcake place still doesn’t. You choose between a chocolate or a vanilla cupcake… they have to go in the back to get it… hmmm. Anyhow, she brings out the cupcake and then asks what type of icing you want (I chose peppermint). Well, it was just about the stalest baked good I’ve ever had the misfortune of eating. My guess is that they have a stash of old GF cupcakes in the back. Better off making a batch of the Betty Crocker GF cupcakes yourself. The only reason they get 1 star is that the icing was pretty good!

My girlfriend is the cupcake connoisseur. But I’m the Unilocaler and therefore I tend to review things based on our mutual experience.
The space is beautiful and the service friendly. They have a selection of gluten-​free and vegan cupcakes for those with dietary restrictions.
Comparing these cupcakes to other cupcakeries in Vancouver, I think they’re quite good. Definitely better than the local chain Cupcakes, and there’s not nearly as much PINK going on.
Maybe I walked in on a good day (Friday); I suggest going on that day. Reward yourself for a hard week’s work.

It’s not very often I give a 1 star and usually I always give the benefit of the doubt to a business and will go back a few times but Cassia cup cake deserves less than a 1 star for customer service.
Their cupcakes are well priced but it’s a hit and miss whether you get a fresh one or not. Overall it’s reasonable and the quality is reasonable. I wouldn’t say it’s gourmet.

On more than 1 occasion the counter person is on the phone and has not made eye contact with me, but completely ignored us for 5 minutes while she does inventory. I had better service at a gas station.
I always leave this place scratching my head wondering what went wrong. You think coming to a cup cake place you would leave with smile but instead it leaves such a sour taste in your mouth that I had to write a review about my experience.
A cup cake is a treat and customers should feel welcomed and excited leaving this place. Instead time after time I am greatly disappointed. I always leave this establishment with a «No cup cake for you»…experience.

I was at Mr. Pets and was walking back to my car when I saw these amazingly delectable-​looking cupcakes. My feet wouldn’t move because my stomach was saying «I want them all! Go in and fetch me some!» Who was I to resist my temptations? So I went in, paid for a couple (my friend was with me so I bought her some as a treat for tagging along), and left extremely excited to shove my face with cupcake goodness. It all sounded amazing in my head and that’s where the amazing ended… in my head.
These cupcakes made Safeway cupcakes look gourmet. These cupcakes were dry. They were so dry I couldn’t believe it. I thought maybe it was just one of them, so I tried another cupcake I had purchased and that too was dry. My friend’s cupcakes were also equally dry. If I have to drink liquid to swallow your cupcake, it means it sucks.
Also, maybe these cupcakes were for diabetics about to crash and needing the sugar. Or perhaps it was a bunch of preschoolers gone mad in the back of the bakery and shoving every bag of sugar into the mixer? Or how else am I supposed to explain the ridiculous amount of sugar in these cupcakes? Don’t get me wrong, cupcakes would be terrible without the decadence and sweetness, but these were just so sweet I couldn’t handle more than a few bites of all my cupcakes combined.

After coming to a sad realization that I am a Unilocal ELITE 2013 REJECT, I was bummed. Maybe the community manager just does not like me or my reviews enough. Hmmmm. My friend however treated me a cupcake from this little gem on Commercial Drive which made things a little better. All the cupcakes are around 3 dollars each and they have interesting flavors like banana cake and coconut frosting which I tried and was so delicious. It is on the sugary side, so I suggest some tea with it as well. I can’t wait to try the other vegan flavors! I also like how I could see the staff making fresh cupcakes in front of us. Whether you are vegan or non vegan I recommend Cassia Cupcakery.
Oh and don’t forget– Feb 25^th is the National Cupcake Day!

Came here to try a cupcake, and to see how it compares with Cupcakes (the store downtown).
Parking here is available on the side streets.
The place has a vintage 1920s feel, thanks to the old-​style walls (panels with the vertical stripes).
The cupcakes range from $ 2 – 4 for individuals, but obviously the price goes down if you buy 6 or 12. There are many different flavours, placed on display for your viewing pleasure.
The thing I like most about this is that they go somewhat easy on the sugar. That is usually my #1 complaint about such shops. I want to eat a cupcake or two, not get diabetes. The pumpkin cupcake I tried actually had a filling in the middle that’s just like that of a pumpkin pie. The icing was also nice and fluffy. Delicious.
One last thing — they sell bottles of Pop Shoppe here! Blast from the past! Pretty pricey at $ 2.70(!) per bottle, but oh wow, this brings back the memories. They have several flavours available here.
Final verdict: this place is better than Cupcakes.

Today I licked the icing slowly off the top of a (vegan) cupcake while walking along the Drive. Then ripping off little pieces of that beautiful, moist gluten free cake and dipping them into the remaining frosting, I devoured that delightfully devilish treat. I made excuses to myself… it’s almost my birthday. mhmm! –sounds familiar?
Also the customer server est très gentil, even complimented me on my *cough cough* French language skills. I could write on my palm all the French I can actually remember.
