Metta Rest Spa

I originally bought a session for my super busy, sleep deprived, fiancé because I heard that each session of floating is equivalent to a few hours of sleep.
My fiancé felt very relax and rejuvenated after his session, but what was very interesting to us is the following:
He has these random red spots on his skin, nothing serious, nothing contagious, just random red spots that he gets rid of by a few applications of Selsun blue. After one floating session all his red spots were gone!!! He ended up both energized and with clear skin :) Thank you Metta Rest Spa

The best atmosphere and amenities of any float place in Vancouver.
Service is excellent. From the moment I walk in, I feel pampered. Everything is designed toward a tranquil experience. The infrared sauna is a fantastic way to relax and calm down pre-​float. The library is great for coming back to reality post-​float. I also often make use of the yoga room to do my physio stretches before and after sauna or floating. The staff are attentive and helpful, with recommendations to maximize my experience, accommodating my schedule where possible, etc.

I LOVE this place. From the initial greeting right through to us finishing up our visit, the customer service was excellent. It is a truly unique experience being freed of all of your senses. I have been trying meditation for about a year and this was the deepest meditative state I have been able to achieve. By the time the lights came back on in my Pod, I was in a deep meditative state and moved gently back to the present. They also have an infrared spa, library and yoga room to use before and after your float session.
I will be back for sure!

This place is has an amazing ambience and beautiful rooms. Of all the «float» places there are in Vancouver, judging by the photos on the others sites, Metta far surpasses them. I met two of the owners, one at the UBC fair and one upon arrival for my appointment– Both seem like amazing people. Upon my arrival, I was waited on and my appointment was worked around to ensure I had time to use the sauna.
Why the 2 stars, then? Despite the great experience that is created, great people, and great service, the actual float (centre of the whole experience) was a disappointment, due to the fact that the lights in my pod were on the entire float. I was unsure if this was normal, so didn’t mention anything post-​float, but after talking to my boyfriend about his float, I realized the lights are supposed to be off, submerging you into darkness. Really disappointing. If the lights had been off during my float I am sure it would have been a completely different experience.
I had also asked to take a photo of the pod, and the guy let me know that after my float he would have another pod ready for me to take a photo of. I had been enjoying my time there, so the photo was for referral purposes to show my friends what the pods look like. After my float, nothing following up on his offer earlier was mentioned. I didn’t want to be a bother, so didn’t say anything, as it was mainly to promote the place to my friends anyways.
Overall, the epicentre of the experience. the float. was a disappointment because the lights remained on, a small but crucial detail to a enjoyable experience…
Was really wanting to support this new business and make it my go-​to spot– However, With my float experience there, I’ll be going elsewhere.

I loved this place. It’s a new place, beautifully designed with modern but warm touches. The staff are just the right balance between cool, earnest, and attentive. I had never floated before or had an infrared sauna treatment, so the staff’s advice was very helpful. The experience of floating is remarkable, and totally rejuvenating. I am coming back to this place.

Recommend to anyone that wish to relax and do nothing for an hour! The facility is just beautiful here and since the place just opened it’s probably the best time to visit! There’s a socialshoppers deal on at the moment, so do it!!!

This place is a true sanctuary.
You leave the hustle and bustle of Broadway behind, as you step inside the doors of Metta. The staff are friendly and efficient, and get you oriented nicely.
There is a small changing room with a locker for your stuff. You get changed into a big fluffy robe, and then you can either sit in the infrared sauna, use the yoga room, or lounge in the library with some tea. As I was about ½ early, I chose the library.
The library is cozy. There are a number of brightly coloured sofa/​loungers to relax on. The built-​in book case has an array of books, and there are some magazines as well. In the middle of the book case is a faux fireplace, which was a really nice touch.
When it’s time for your float, someone comes to get you. I was in the Compassion room (I’m not sure how the rooms differ, since this was my first time). It had a HUGE egg shaped thing in the middle of the room, with a shower stall in the corner. The egg was refilling itself with water (it’s self cleaning). After explaining the whole process to me, I was left on my own to float.
I took a shower first, and then dried off my face really well (the left I just left wet). Then I put some petroleum jelly on a paper cut that I had (make sure you do this for any little cuts or hangnails, as the salt will sting!). Put some ear plugs in, and crouched in the egg.
The egg has a lid that you pull down after you get in. Some LED lights go on, and music plays for the first little while. Nature sounds, and that sort of thing. The lid doesn’t close all the way to allow for air. At first I panicked, because I left the lights on in the room, but they went off automatically after a few minutes. The LED lights fill the inside of the egg, and you feel like you’re surrounded by gorgeous colour. Lie down, and you float effortlessly from all the salt in the water. Since my head felt a bit heavy, I used the neck pillow to keep it up with some help.
I have to admit, the first time I floated (not here), it was hard to get used to it. But now, I love it. It’s a bit like meditating, where thoughts come up, and you just let them go. I try to focus on my breathing, and listen to it go in and out.
After an hour, the lights and music fade in, and you’re gently brought back out of your daze. Back in the shower, and then got changed.
I was invited to use the library again, but I had to go. Next time, I’m going to come really early and take advantage of all of the amenities. The yoga room has everything (props too) for a practice. And I’ll try the sauna out too.
I left feeling incredibly relaxed and refreshed. I can’t imagine what that would be like, augmented by some yoga and a schvitz too! I’m excited that I found this place, and grateful as well.
Oh, and there is free parking on the street, or under the building at the back, so that’s a bonus. And awesome cinnamon buns are ½ a block away, on Alma.

At Metta³ Rest Spa, there are seven private rooms, each equipped with its own float pod and shower. After taking a small tour of their experiential rooms (which I will go into more detail about later), I was offered a robe in the change room and lockers to store my clothing and belongings. Then, it was time to take a short walk down the hallway to my personal float room.
The float pod is a sleek and futuristic looking egg-​shaped bathtub which can be hinged open or shut by a handle on the inside.
When I first arrived in the room, the pod was still filling up with salt water, which was exactly enough time for me to take a shower with the «pre-​float» cleanser, designed to gently removed make up, sweat, natural oils before I stepped into the water. Soft and colourful LED lights came on, along with a gentle spa-​like voice which told me it was time to step inside and begin my 60 minute float session.
I stepped inside, started pulling the top lid down, and lay down. I was surprised at how cavernous the inside of the pod was, with a big white dome over my head. After floating for a few minutes, the LED lights and music is shut off, and I was encapsulated into full darkness.
It’s definitely a cool feeling to float weightlessly in water, but at the same time you really have to make a conscious decision to relax and let your muscles go. Floating could be likened to a form of meditation, you lay very still, and there are no distractions but your own mind.
A few times the back of my head started dropping down, but I used a neck pillow filled with air which I propped behind my neck, like on an airplane. If I scratched my eyebrow, salt water got dangerously close to my eye but a dry cloth hung over a handle within a pod, and I could use that at any time.
After about half an hour, I started getting restless, like I had been in a bath for too long. But again, as a comparison to meditation, the only distraction to my float session was my own mind and restlessness.
When the 60 minute session was almost over, the soft LED lights came back on and that was my cue to step out and rinse off.
In addition to Metta³ Rest Spa’s main offering of a float session, there are three experiential facilities that are available for customers to use before or after their float: The Far-​Infrared Sauna, The Library and The Yoga Room.
A session at Metta³ Rest Spa could easily turn into an all-​afternoon visit, as the staff were in no hurry to tell me to leave. Had I known this beforehand, I would have blocked off my entire evening for my visit and taken full advantage of the complimentary tea and library of books to browse through.
5 stars to the staff, 5 stars to the bonus facilities, and 4 stars for the concept of floating.

Truly relaxing experience in the most comfortable and clean environment. They have really thought of everything including fantastic organic products and the coziest of robes!

Everyone here puts heart into each small detail! It’s a wonderful experience ! Excellent service. I really enjoyed!
