Metta³ Rest Spa is a luxury boutique spa offering state of the art relaxation treatments.
Within our doors you will find; a far-infrared sauna, ladies and gentleman’s changing areas, a cozy library, boutique yoga sanctuary and (our favorite) seven Flotation Rest Therapy pods.
Restricted Environmental Stimulus Therapy or REST is a powerful stress relief and wellness tool, offering a multitude of physical and mental benefits. During a session, guests rest within a sensory-controlled environment, effortlessly floating on the surface of a super-saturated salt water solution which creates a state of weightlessness. The fewer distractions there are, the more beneficial effects it has on the body.
Individual results may vary, however a single floatation session yields immediate benefits. The detrimental effects of stress on the body are dissipated: tense muscles relax, and the mind is able to let go and enter into a state of deep calm. This homeostatic state can last for hours, days or weeks, so we suggest frequent floatation REST sessions for cumulative effects and enduring results.
History
Established in 2014.
What we know as Flotation REST was discovered by Dr. John C. Lilly and his team in the 1950’s. They began to research the effects of stimulus reduction and created the first apparatus which effectively limited external stimuli. The findings were incredible and the field of research grew. Dr. Peter Suedfeld coined the term REST at Vancouver’s own University of British Columbia in the 1980s. Metta³ Rest Spa is proud to bring REST back to it’s West Coast roots.
Our vision for the optimal spa experience utilizes the ultimate relaxation therapy. We believe that proper rest is essential to personal growth and healing. In our efforts to create a loving, kind and safe haven, we truly hope that each and every guest can let go and reconnect inwards.
Our motto has always been «Team work makes the dream work», therefore it is our desire that all guests find themselves feeling as though they are a part of our metta³ community.
