I needed a quick fix prior to heading to the airport, and also there was a coupon book sent to my house, oh how convenient to lure me into the hands of the golden arches. Well it’s been awhile since I’ve sneaked this food into my system and secretly I’ve been craving some McDonald’s breakfast, I’ll admit that. the day has come folks! I needed one that wouldn’t be out of the way in regards to the direction I was going and this one was going to be it. Instead of parking in their tiny 45 degree parking stall lot, I chose to park on the street so I can just get out and go, the only times you can’t park on the street are between 3pm — 6pm, they still have a parking lot, so they have your car needs covered. When you come in, it’s a narrow McDonald’s, renovated like the rest of them with a TV for anyone who likes to come here and spend some good time, whether reading the paper, meeting up friends, or just needing to waste some time. The TV is usually on the news or sports with a ticker running on the bottom. And where you get the food. that’s at the back. I came at around 8:40am, early enough, no lineups but there was a consistent amount of people coming and going. The woman who was running the till looked like the shift supervisor, and she was not fumbling with the buttons like no rookie, she took the order, pressed the right keys, got you to pay, then made you stand aside while your order was being prepared, fast, efficient, to say she was nice, I wouldn’t say that, she was professional cause all you really want is your f’ing food, and she was here to deliver that, and it’s the morning, you aren’t up to be smiley or chatty, I credit her for that. When finally our food was ready it was all laid out on a tray and I picked out my McGriddle. The first thing that shocked me, that this place knows exactly what to do, is to make their food look right. This thing was perfectly centered, from sausage piece in the middle, to the egg, cheese, and the bready parts. It has been a long time since I have seen one of these done like this, usually it looks like something a child slapped together, these people in the back aced their ‘hamburger school’ course at McD’s university! As I said, I had a coupon, and I had an extra sandwich, which I took to work, when I opened that one. again. perfection in constructing their food, it looks all straight, didn’t fall apart, wrapped correctly so it’s not flopping all over the place to lose its shape. If I am wanting well constructed McD’s… I’ll think again to come over here to get it.

In my days before Unilocal,I would come to this McDonald’s when I used to work in this hood for lunch. It’s a small location, but it works. There is some side parking, and it’s a McDonald’s. It can get really crowded in this location at lunch as they don’t have enough seats, but they still churn out Big Mac’s, Milkshakes and the tried and true McDonald’s fare with speed and consistency. For what it is, in this neighborhood, it’s A-OK just like the three stars say. Sure, you can drive down to Marine Drive… but if you’re right in Marpole, this is it. This is the only McDonald’s in the hood if you just want to walk to a McD’s.

I should give it an extra star for having its own parking, albeit a small, tight one, but overall it’s a narrow, small store. With its location, it’s pretty well only convenient if you’re heading to Richmond or heading south. Can be slow service with only 2 cashiers. Pretty cramped sitting area too.

Well, it is McDonald’s. Food is not gourmet. I was disappointed when they didn’t have sausage, egg and cheese biscuits that I am so used to in the states. I’m not a fan of english muffins. Anyway, this particular location always seems to be clean and they have free wifi so on the occasion that I do come in here I have had pretty good service. I would actually eat here more than once or twice a year if they had the biscuits!!!

One thing I like about McDonald’s is their consistency and reliability. And their ice cream cones. Parking is available in a small lot next to this building. There are maybe 10 spots in total. This location is quite narrow. There is a seating area but a good chunk of it is gone because of the entrance corridor. It feels cramped. The counter is quite narrow too. Not sure if they ever use all 3 tills, but there’s definitely a sardine factor. Service was friendly and quick. I’m not sure what happened today, but my McDouble was especially greasy. The wrapper was extra shiny. Whoever was making the cones must be new on the job. I ordered 2 cones. One was skinny and tallish(though still smaller than other locations), and the other was a short and fat blob. Reminded me of a tomato. Oh, and the ice cream was half-melted. See photo.

This may not exicte the Canadian customers, but to an American I was pleasantly pleased to find this store(blink and youll miss it… yes, that small) offering s’mores pies in addition to the standard baked apple! After clearing customs and getting my rental, I was feeling a bit peckish while on my way to one of the Olympic venues. I stopped here for a mac wrap(interesting, but why?) and to my surprise a s’mores pie. Dare I say it really did taste good? One loonie for a pie that tasted good? I should have bought two! Service was quick, seating area was very clean(maybe 20 could be in the dining area at one time) and parking was… well, there.
