Love this lounge at the Pacific Rim. Probably one of the best hotel bar/lounges. Gets busy during the nights and has a great atmosphere. All the waitresses are very friendly and accommodating:)

A beautiful venue, excellent drinks selection, and stunning live music, this place is highly recommended, in the very heart of downtown Vancouver. Treat yourself!

This is one of the more upscale and modern hotels in Vancouver with the lobby lounge situated right beside the main entrance. They had great service. The waitress was friendly and helpful. I didn’t get to try the Raw bar but I did have the nachos. I loved how they made the beef. It went really well with the olives and the tortilla chips. This was by far one of the best nachos I’ve eaten! It’s a great sharing plate since the portion is quite large. They also had live music playing from 3pm to 12am. You can find the schedule of the musician on their website!

I was in Vacouver for 3 days and did a terrible job of enjoying as many restaurants around the city because I got so addicted to the awesome drinks they serve here, great vibe and super friendly service. More than ‘just’ a lobby lounge, you can order from the restaurants sushi and other restaurants, sit in high top tables, at the bar or in comfortable plush seating. There’s a beautiful glass fireplace and they regularly have music until 7pm on weeknights. I would absolutely recommend the Corpse Reviver… a fantastic gin drink that is AMAZing with the torched beef salad. Its a perfect sized meal(unless you need a chocolate crème brûlée fix, in which case… add that on!).

First review of the year! Checked out the new RAWBAR at the Lobby Lounge for a work lunch. They now offer a full lunch menu(Japanese fusion). It’s true what they say — Quality over quantity. I ordered the sashimi lunch set and what it lacked in quantity(3 small pieces of salmon, tuna, and scallops, plus a small spoonful of wakame/seaweed salad and gomae), it made up for in flavour. Sashimi was fresh — Vancouver’s only fully-ocean-wise menu — kudos! — and presentation was very fancy for lunch. That said, the prices are what you would expect for the Pac Rim(if you’ve ever had cocktails in the Lobby Lounge you know what I’m talking about). A great place to go if you’re not paying the bill!

The Lobby Lounge is arguably one of the best lounges in Vancouver, with a gorgeous interior design, a team a good-looking staff, amazing and fresh sushi, comfortable seating and a stunning location. Food-wise, I would rate their Japanese cuisine quite high up, among the ranks of Miku, Tojo’s and Minami! Chef Taka Omi is truly a culinary genius, creating absolutely gorgeous sushi rolls which are both Ocean Wise(seafood sustainable) and delicious. I have heard a few complaints about the service here but I don’t blame them because the Lobby Lounge is usually extremely packed(even at 9pm on a Thursday night!) but we were fortunate enough to have an extremely accommodating waitress who kept our drink glasses full! I was actually here for a company event but after looking at their menu, I’m not sure if I’ll be able to afford coming back! PS. The live music was amazing! The male artist’s rendition of Sia’s Chandelier was unlike anything I’ve heard before.

Service doesn’t even exist at this place… Two stars are given to the live musician beside the piano. We had an reservation for the afternoon tea, yet when we arrived at the lounge, we stood there for a good 5 minutes and then we had to ask the lobby security for help since there was no one working around. Finally the security found us a waitress, and instead of giving us a seat where we wanted,(80% of the whole place was empty…) she made us sit in the very back area beside the hall way to the check in counter… Later on she seems like she has forgotten about us and took at least half an hour to get us our tea and food… The high tea contains a couple of Japanese fused savory tofu(?) cakes and some decent sandwiches. Overall the food is alright, and portion is big.

Live music. Fresh sushi. Great wine. Fabulous company. What more could a girl ask for? The above is exactly what I needed after a crazy long and hellish travel day, and thanks to the power team of Jody B and Tonye A, that’s exactly what I experienced! The lovely ladies mentioned above met me at my hotel and we walked over to RawBar /LLatFPR per Tonye’s recommendation. She suggested it because«the servers are super sweet, there is live music, and of course spectacular sushi.» She was spot on! I had a glass of Malbec and a seaweed salad and shared a few of the signature maki rolls with Jody B.(Salmon Motoyaki, Raw Bar Roll, and Lobby Lounge Roll). All were delicious and we cleaned the plate! We ate, drank and chatted all while listening to the extremely talented Martin Acosta perform. He’s not only extremely talented when it comes to his music, but he’s also very easy on the eyes ;) There was some fun people-watching and good energy at this place all around. This place is on the pricey side but worth the splurge… I’m a fan indeed!

Have I been living under a rock? Up until this evening, I had no idea the Pacific Rim had a sushi bar… oh sure, I know of the lobby lounge as the spot to see and be seen on the weekends for the Vancouver Elite and therefore, had avoided it like the plague. I know they book good music — namely because I know a few people who have played/currently play there and I think they’re pretty nifty but even the charm of a good live music set wasn’t enough to brave these waters. The raw roll(chopped scallop) however, may just be the tipping point. This place makes a really tasty sushi roll. Sure, it’s expensive but the quality is there. We ordered three rolls to split and it was more then enough food — all of the items being darn tasty, and really, how often do you get live music(which was phenomenal) alongside sushi? This is actually the only place i’ve seen those two mix. So sure, i’ll pay a few extra bucks for this unique perk. I’m a fan and would be back… maybe not on a crazy weekend night, but a weekday dinner/dessert combo? Definitely on the list again.

No complaints about this place. Went for drinks, tea and dessert after dinner… it sufficed exactly what we were aiming for. It’s a very nice ambiance with live music and huge stand alone fireplace. Definitely a spot to check out in a very gorgeous property!

Definitely order the beef short ribs and duck sliders with a side of yam fries. Do not get the afternoon tea set with sandwiches, tea, and pastries for$ 35/person. By looking around, only a few ordered it and the selection was not enticing.

Had lunch on a recent Sunday while staying upstairs at the Fairmont Pacific Rim. Sat at the Raw/Bar, which had great food but was VERY expensive. $ 6 edamame, $ 16 salads, $ 6 nigiri(PERPIECE!!) but the quality of the fish was good. There were lots of dogs coming and going with there owners — nice place to people-watch. It was prime holiday party season while we visited, so the lobby was PACKED. One thing I’m definitely trying out next time is their afternoon tea — you can get either traditional(truffled egg salad, chilled tiger prawn & avocado, tandoor roasted chicken salad) or sushi-style(miso tofu, tofu tuna tataki, crab & cucumber) finger sandwiches with your tea(genmai cha, anyone?) scones and dessert. The lobby lounge was party central at night, which makes it VERY hard to talk to the front desk staff if you’re staying at the hotel. There’s live music every day/night, with quieter music during the day(typically someone playing some quieter piano music.)

Coolly professional service, and so far the best afternoon tea I’ve ever had, involving both sushi and sandwiches. Easy to find seating and quiet space for conversation during the day, but in the late afternoon there will be live music that can be quite loud depending on how close you sit to the musicians’ area at the piano. Could have used an extra plate/saucer for utensils.

Probably the most chaotic lobby bar at a 5-star hotel I’ve ever seen. When you walk into the place, you don’t feel that peaceful sigh of «Ah.» It’s more like«aaaahhhh!» when you realize how mobbed and crazy it is. The décor is super modern and minimalist, probably too much for my taste. Service at the bar was good, I can’t fault it, but nothing about the experience was relaxing. It was all about the trendy«scene» and full of people who wanted to be noticed. Not that this is a bad thing if you’re looking to start off a night of boozing, but I don’t tend to think of hotel lobby bars as a place for crazy benders. I guess I’m just not versed in this style — I’d prefer some crafted drinks, a little jazz and feelings of serenity and escape. The«diet» drink… the name escapes me but it was the only one of the menu that was advertised as under 200 calories… was delicious but honestly I couldn’t taste a drop of alcohol. It tasted like a totally non alcoholic concoction, so I had to change things up for my second drink. My husband’s boulevardier, made from barrel-aged bourbon was spot-on fabulous and I found myself sipping more from his rocks glass than my dainty one. I always think I’ll find the feminine cocktails«refreshing» but then I usually end up realizing that I prefer the stronger, classic ones. Overall, a bar with good drinks and service, but a chaos and pretense that I could do without. I’d take the traditional bar in the Fairmont Château Frontenac in Quebec City over this one any day.

It’s a gorgeous lobby but reminiscent of being in the Robert Palmer video for Addicted to Love. Beautiful waitresses all dressed the same and doing the same«model walk».

The other night me ‘n Mark H came out to drink, laugh and check out some live music. We got our money’s worth and more. This room is great. The people who show up are entertaining. They come from all walks of life, like sea captains, zoo keeps, financial accountants, under sea welders and beach bums and bunnies. The live music is top notch. The drinks yum — and as Mark H. noted there is quite a lot of heel. The legs attached were quite spectacular as well.(What can I say, I’m a leg man)… Here’s to another great night coming up with Mark H.(and if you’re one of our Unilocal hommies you are welcome to come out too. Wear your heels) g

Heels, milfs, and gilfs. And great live music to boot. Big shout out to my man Gary M. for taking me to this joint. I’ve never been inside, but this place is just as sexy as its exterior. Décor porn. Greeted by a British Chinese hostess(love the accent), we got a table close to the piano. Servers were attentive, fast, and friendly. Drinks were reasonable and decent. The young guy performing was stellar. Playing the guitar and singing smooooth renditions of perfect lounge music, I have no complaints. Definitely no karaōke-types here. For whatever reason, we were one of the very few that respectfully clapped after each song. We got a high five in appreciation. Respect. The people watching is stellar. Sure there are rich folks around, but this ‘aint no snobville. The vibe of this place makes for an awesome, sexy crowd. With live music 6 nights a week, this is my new fav joint.

Living only a few blocks away, it is a nice place to hangout on the weekend nights, though Friday night can be… well pretty loud! But you can choose your seats to control the noise level and the crowd so it’s ok. The drinks are expensive yes, but the atmosphere is great with live band. Complimentary valet parking is a definite plus. I came in with a large group and they let us sit in the Oru seatings which is more quiet than the lobby itself. The server forgot a couple of orders but smartly provided complimentary drink for the person he forgot the order for. Overall I enjoy the experience and will come back for more !

**This is a review for the Afternoon Tea in the Lobby Lounge the hotel** I hate to be the one giving the poor review on such a beautiful hotel, but someone’s going to have to do it. I booked Afternoon Tea for 3 and 1 person in the group is Celiac so I made sure to be very specific on the phone with the person taking the booking. I asked if my friend can order off the menu while the other 2 can do the afternoon tea. I was told that is not a problem, but when we arrived, I was told she cannot and they will have to prepare a selection of items for her seperately. OK, fine. just a bit of mix-up, no big deal. Onto the seating… I love how the lounge looks and it works very well when you are having some drinks, but for afternoon tea, it was uncomfortable. The table you are eating on is too low(coffee table height) so you are constantly bending down to eat or talk to each other. I think some regular tables and chairs should have been set up seperately for the afternoon tea. That would have been a lot better and easier on everyone’s backs. Another thing that wasn’t up to standard was the fact that when the person who came around to put the cutlery, napkins, plates, cups and saucers on the table, she kept touching the inside of the cup with her finger. That’s a huge no-no especially in a 5 star hotel. She should be placing the cup on the saucer first(touching only the outside of the cup) and then placing them together on the table. Maybe she was new or wasn’t aware? On top of this, the trolley that she was pushing around with all these cutlerly and etc was very dirty and dusty. It really needed to be wiped down. And if you’ll bear with me, the last thing that needed improvement was the staff. I asked our waiter if he can tell me the difference between 2 teas. He had no idea. It wasn’t an extensive list, had about 7 or 8 teas… so I think it would have helped if the waiter for afternoon tea, knew about the teas they were bringing out. Again, a small thing, but added to the whole list of items above, it didn’t help with the experience. The last thing is the food. The sandwiches and desserts were very good and I was happy with what I had eaten, but I didn’t think for the amount of food you get that it was worth it. However, I give them points for being creative with their Asian inspired Afternoon Tea menu.(Sushi inspired sandwiches and appees) End result: Beautiful and open space atmosphere with great potential, but need an enormous improvement in everything else. I don’t think I will be returning.
