Little Mountain Learning Academy (LMLA) offers premium English language training and academic enrichment for K-​12 students in an afterschool setting and in daytime summer intensives. LMLA also offers general adult ESL and Accent Reduction during the daytime. Our programs go beyond the traditional worksheet focused programs that treat learning in isolation. Rather LMLA in house and internationally sold curriculum and professional teachers provides holistic education, supporting students transition out of ESL/​ELL while also providing comprehensive skills development required for later success in post secondary studies. Additional specialized courses include provincial exam prep, SSAT, AP and others.

History

Established in 2004.

Located on the UBC campus since 2006, LMLA has quickly risen to become the No. 1 afterschool academy in Vancouver. Its stream programs target the needs of students at each grade level and small class sizes insure each student receives individualized attention while collaborative learning at each level supports motivation, interest and peer learning.

Meet the Business Owner

Ryan T.

Business Owner

Ryan Tierney has been an international educator for 20 years. He has taught in a variety of environments from teaching children through adults. He has taught management and leadership to corporate executives and worked as a software trainer in Silicon Valley.

Ryan returned to Canada in January 2012 to take over day-​to-​day operations of Little Mountain Learning Academy. In addition to managing LMLA day-​to-​day operations, Ryan is pursuing his ICF coaching federation accreditation. Ryan is deeply appreciative of all the amazing staff and teachers that bring innovative and motivational lessons to students attending Little Mountain.

Ryan has a B.A. from UBC, a TESOL teaching certificate and two post-​graduate diplomas in Information Technology and Asian Studies. Ryan also has an MBA.
