Liquid Amber Tattoo

Milo did my tattoo and the lines are inconsistent going thick then thin in some spots, it is crooked and way off center (it’s on my wrist) me and a friend called to see if there was a last minute spot the day of for tattoos we had wanted, bad idea. He placed the stencil on my wrist and it seemed like it wasn’t in the perfect place so I asked him to take it off and move it, then to take it off and move it again, I could tell he was super annoyed so I just said that it was alright I guess, and he started tattooing. being a tattoo artist don’t u think you should try to make it perfect and … NOT CROOKED? Milo was complaining that he hadn’t eaten all day, making me feel guilty and awkward about being a walk in client. He kept saying how he couldn’t wait to get off work to hang out with his boyfriend and i was his last client so i felt like he rushed it. Pretty terrible experience, would only go back if somebody else was able to fix my bad tattoo from him

Got my first ink here while visiting Vancouver. Milo was awesome! Friendly, detail oriented and he made quick work too. I would definitely return!

I have two tattoos from these guys (er, gals) and I love them both. I had found them a few years ago on Unilocal with superb ratings but not a whole lot of reviews. I checked out their website and was impressed with the quality of work. I spend a lot of time checking out tattoos and found their books to be among some of the top in Vancouver. Above all that, I just love that it’s a female-​operated studio.
For my first tattoo, I reached out to the shop via email and sent a description of what I’m looking for and some reference illustrations. I explained I wasn’t sure which artist would be best for what I was looking for and asked for a recommendation. I got a call back within a couple days and talked through my idea. Genevieve was great on the phone and I felt very positive about my upcoming appointment which was made with Rene. Six months after I had gotten my tattoo, I contacted the shop and asked for a consultation to review my tattoo. Although I loved it and the execution was great, there was something about my original design that I felt I could enhance. Upon consultation, Rene agreed and drew up a couple options for how we might be able to address it. She was extremely professional and gracious about the updates to the tattoo and was able to add the additional detail I was looking for.
For my second tattoo, I requested Kylie for her color work. After a very long wait list, I finally got my turn. Again, we communicated over email as I sent inspiration links and chatted through the drawing that Kylie produced. Minor tweaks and it was perfect. Two sessions later, this tattoo was bold and brilliant on my arm. It’s incredibly well done. Over a year later, it’s still one of my most complimented pieces. Kylie is one of the most talented artists I’ve gotten to work with. If you have any chance to get on her list, it’s worth the wait even over a year out.
I have always found the shop to be inviting and cozy. Exposed brick wall, small space — enough for just three artists to work at once. Most importantly, there is no rack of bad clip-​art tattoos that you could choose from. No, this shop does original artwork only — even if you want something very generic. I love this aspect of the shop. The artists are professional and friendly. Their prices are fair. They are great about communication, confirming you understand aftercare instructions, and ensuring you’re comfortable. I’ve seen them place blankets on customers who felt chilly during their ink session.
Great shop, great work, great service. If you’re getting a tattoo, I can’t recommend Liquid Amber enough.

While I’ve only had tattoos done at two other studios and at a private home studio, this is hands down, the best tattoo studio I’ve been to in Vancouver.
From the woman at reception to the artist I had, which was Ashley, I didn’t once feel like…
1. …I was regarded as just a one-​time «give us your money, here’s your tattoo and get out» visitor. I feel like I’ve been treated that way at other studios but not here. The tiny studio makes for friendly chit chat among visitors, artists and clients.
2. …that my healthy and safety was at risk. I watched Ashley thoroughly clean and sanitize her work station and tools before my appointment.
3. …that I was ripped off. I had two small pieces done, one on the outside of each ankle plus a small, older tattoo graciously touched up by her for what I thought was an extremely reasonable price.
Will I return? Hell ya.

I had two small to medium pieces done at this location by Ashley. Excellent artist. I will be returning for my next 5 – 6 larger ones and possibly more. All the employees are very professional. Highly recommended for experienced and new ink lovers.

So I got my first tattoo ever. It’s taken a long time for me to do it and some people have said ‘why, at your age?!’ I’ll show them. Grrrr
I had contacted them months before and they gave me a lot of information via email so that I was prepared for what was to come.
The parlour itself is a clean and fun environment. Jenny was great, helpful and very reassuring that it wasn’t going to hurt and that it looked good. We faffed about with the size and if I should have shading or not, etc and got on with things.
Very reasonable in price and I really did like everyone there, even the other guys who were getting work done.

I just had my first of 2 sittings with Kylie. I updated and added to an existing tattoo. I couldn’t be happier. She is amazing. We powered through 4 hours straight and I was blown away when I saw what she had done. I gave her free artistic reign with a couple of hints and voila! Magic. She also tattooed my bff. Gorgeous work. Kylie is professional, kind and chill. She made me fee super comfortable. She is well worth the wait!

Jen Rose is an awesome artist. The whole experience was incredible. If you’re tired of the typical macho tattoo studios with metal pulsing too loud… head here for a quality experience of getting custom artwork that you can enjoy for a lifetime. No generic templates to choose from. Tue artistry. Everyone here was friendly & welcoming.

I just got stocking seams topped with Hello Kitty bows tattooed down the back of my legs yesterday and I have nothing but great things to say about Jen Rose!
An adorable young lady with such talent! She took her time lining up my stencils, making sure that not only her and I agreed they were in the right places, but so did the other people in the shop. It wasn’t until everyone was absolutely sure that everything was where it should be that she actually took a needle to my skin. She was more patient than I could have hoped for with my involuntary muscle spasms as she went over my ankles, and most importantly; My lines are straight and beautiful.
She was also very patient with me when all was said and done and I experienced an unexpected bout of dizziness. She brought me a glass of water, let me sit as long as I needed to, and slowly went over the aftercare with me as if I wasn’t being a silly girl.
I am very pleased with not only my experience there, but also with the finished product!

There’s a reason why this shop has a waiting list: because they’re freakin’ amazing. I have nothing but the highest praise for LA on all elements I would look for in a good ink parlous: excellent service, courteous and warm atmosphere, professional and precise artistry. Quite simply, the positive, upbeat, and courteous vibe in this place is like a blast of sunshine. I quite frankly would not go anywhere else, such was the awesomeness of my experience.

I’m not going to lie, this is sort of a review of a second-​hand experience. My lover got a tattoo here from Jenny. It went across his forearm and since it was a memorial tattoo he was pretty picky about it. He kept making very small changes and she was very accommodating. When it came to the day of it was an overall pleasant experience. Their shop was kind of small and they mentioned on their website they didn’t like people hanging around their much. So, I was a little nervous that his brother and I were there to watch, worried they’d make a stink about it, but they were, once again very accommodating. We sat around chatted, since it was a memorial tattoo the subject was clearly touchy, but this isn’t LA Ink, she didn’t pry, but instead was very open and compassionate about whatever information he offered up. I’ve never gotten a tattoo before so at the uttering of the word «aftercare kit» I cringed, remembering all the piercing places that tried to sell me 30 dollar saline solutions etc. however, this one was only $ 15 and since he would have had to buy some moisturizer anyways he figured what the hell? It helped that the tattoo was about half the price and took half the time he was expecting. Oh, did I forget to mention it turned out great? Well… it turned out great! He’s super happy with it!

Pricey, especially if the owner is tattooing you but oh so incredibly worth it! Justina is hands down one of the best artists Ive ever seen in my life and also the winner of some awards at this years tattoo convention! Her work is so detailed and she never ceases to amaze me. I cant speak for all the artists because I havent checked out much of their work and I think some are still training but its a great spot, good location, good tunes and a interesting view out the front window well you get inked.lol. never a dull moment on the streets of gastown. I think Jeremy is only working part time but he is also very talented. Overall my favorite spot to get inked and the one I recommend most to friends! p. s H.S.T is a real bitch when it comes to tattoos. with it and tip make sure you have enough in your wallet before you go

I have a number of tattoos, but for my largest piece I went looking around the city flipping through every portfolio I could get my hands on. I came across Jeremy at Liquid Amber and absolutely adored his style.
After a brief consultation, which I wasn’t super clear about because I mostly just wanted his take on my idea. It is perfect. The first mock-​up he gave me was absolutely fabulous and my tattoo is incredible. It’s not finished, mostly because I am a huge wimp, but it will be soon.
I highly recommend Jeremy he has a great eye and style, is super friendly and a great artist.
I’ve known others who have gotten work done by other artists at Liquid Amber and everyone else I’ve heard great things about.

Having only gotten a small and incredibly simple tattoo here, I can’t comment effectively on the skill set of the people working here.
When I went to book my appointment, I kind of thought they might be able to squeeze me in pretty soon, but I didn’t get an appointment for over a week, even though the shop didn’t look busy at all (only one person was getting a tattoo at the time that I went to book and there were at least three other people milling around socializing.)
The girl who did my tattoo just traced the hand drawn picture that I brought and I ended up with a blatantly imperfect stencil transfer that she didn’t even ask about before drawing.
The place itself was really sterile and everyone was civil, but not friendly.
The tattoo was done in a timely manner and healed up really well.
I think that $ 90 was too much to pay for what the tattoo was, despite that being the minimum charge.

Regardless, nothing but spectacular words for the peeps at Liquid Amber. It’s female run/​operated, which definitely helps when consulting over an enormous tattoo on one’s back. Like most «un-​typical» tattoo-​ists, I was mainly concerned with it coming across as unfeminine/​manish. Laura, my artist, took care of my concerns and went through numerous sketches to come to terms with my vision. She was supervised by Justina, and the entire process took under 3 hours. The price was awesome, definitely can’t beat, and I highly highly recommend them to anyone!
