We were staying nearby for a bachelorette party and decided to stop in at 7:00 on a Friday for a quick drink and bite to get our evening started. The staff was so accommodating, creating an area for us all to sit together. On top of that, they were beyond gracious to give us happy hour pricing and serving our group with exceptional service. The wine and food were incredible. If I lived in Vancouver, I would visit frequently — it was a highlight of our trip.

The lobster gnocchi and the salmon were out of this world!!! Everything else, not so much. The appys are not great. Especially for the price. The Caesar salad is tiny, the mozzarella one is boring, and the prawn salad was little chopped up chunks of prawn in corn and stuff. Do not bother with the appetizers. Only half of the entrees were a hit. The bison meatballs had too much oregano throughout the sauce and balls, and the bolognese was boring. The gnocchi was killer — with the best lobster I’ve ever tasted in my life. The salmon was also fantastic. The orange purée was to die for. Skipped dessert because we were not in the mood. The wine list is crazy expensive. The food is priced like a nice restaurant, but the wine list was wild. Would go back only for the gnocchi, the salmon, and mixed drinks.

Had a great Valentines dinner at La Terrazza. Had reservations for 2 people but had some friends tag along after meeting them at the Canucks game. They had no problem finding a table for 6(even when the place was packed) and sat us promptly. Service was great, drinks were fantastic, and the food was excellent. We will definitely be back!

WILLNEVEREATHEREAGAIN! Bland tasting food, worst service and waste of money. I made reservations at La Terrazza to celebrate my wife’s birthday. The service was the worst we have probably ever received at a restaurant. I think fast food chains actually have better service. We arrived on time but apparently our table was not ready and we had to wait an extra 15 minutes. Our incompetent sever-Sir Paul, should find a new job because he is just not cut out for this one. He was slow, barely spoke to us, never asked how our food was and left us waiting 20 minutes to pay the bill. Not that it’s a big deal, but there was also not a single mention of my wife’s birthday or a complimentary dessert either. Also, the server should probably tuck in his shirt and be a bit more sociable if this restaurants wants to be perceived as a legitimate fine dining establishment in Vancouver. As for the food– it was flavourless, overpriced and tasted like it had been reheated from the night prior. I had a penne dish and my wife had the spaghetti. Both tasted very bland. The only good part of the dinner was the wine– even though it was over priced. I have been to many Italian restaurants in Vancouver and this one is a joke and leagues behind others in terms of food quality and service. If you want fresh tasting pasta dishes, then this is definitely not the place to go. The prices here are ridiculous for the quality of food. These main dishes should be priced more like$ 15. I don’t mind paying $ 30, $ 40 or even $ 50+ for a main dish if it tastes great but La Terrazza’s prices are not justifiable based on the poor quality of food served. The owner and managers may want to take all these negative reviews into consideration and either learn from the real fine dining restaurant owners/managers of Vancouver or just do everyone a favour and close this place down. It’s like this place is run by a bunch of amateurs. Will never return here and wouldn’t wish dinner at this place upon my worst enemy.

Food should be romantic. What types of food bring out romance? French and Italian. French and Italian deserts. What is good for date night? Not just any restaurant. To me, date night should be something special and the food should bring out and enhance a romantic atmosphere. Properly staffed and a well thought out menu is important. They layout and design even down to the tableware all add up to you, whomever you are on a successfully accomplished date night that will hopefully lead to other date nights or more. If you done here, make a reservation. Don’t be rushed and make sure you plan it well. Most important thing is to enjoy your meal with an open palette. Make eye contact, put the phone away and converse. Talk about the food! Just look at all the pictures on Unilocal on these reviews and study a bit about the chef. He has an Instagram account. If you’re well versed then you shall have success. Let them do the service and cooking for you. Have fun when they present you the desert menu. Make eye contact. You will be back again. If you enjoyed it and your date didn’t… Bring someone else next time.

Food is good but service is not good and terribly slow. We made a reservation at 8 o’clock and arrived on time, and waited another 20 minutes to get our table. Waited 15 minutes for our servers to take the order, the food arrived quite fast, our server checked on us only once during the entire dinner service. After dessert, we waited another 20 minutes to finally flag down the server for our bill. The server didn’t asked if we needed our bills spilt and was rude when we asked to split it. Dine out event should be an opportunity for restaurants to attract new customers and have them come back. Although the food was good, the service is definitely a big let down and therefore we would not come back.

The food was amazing but our server sir Paul was terrible. The guy that was serving us on Friday the 22nd was so rude and actually gave out to us for asking us to split the bill. The food was amazing and if it wasn’t for this terrible server we would have returned. So disappointing. He holed his eyes and sighed when we requested the bill. We spent $ 600 and certainly didn’t deserve this treatment for just asking to split the bill.

I was someone else’s guest for a birthday party, so I am hesitant to be very critical but this place did not live up to the hype. But don’t get me wrong. It wasn’t bad either. Just below built up expectations from their promotions. Most people in the group were pleased with their food. Nobody was blown away. Service was fair but not as attentive as attentive as it should be for a place at this price point. Not a five star, but not a three either. So I give a four.

Incredible event at La Terrazza, actually, credible would be more to the point, all the food made sense to me. I went with my old kung fu master because we had a gift certificate from the Yaletown Business Improvement Association, for volunteer work we’d done at the Roundhouse. Sylvia works to translate original lyrics into and from Chinese for the Express Your Voice Choir there, and I videotaped several of their rehearsals. I won the gift bag. So we felt well-entitled but also appreciative of the good service. We must have come at the right time: 6 pm on a Sunday night and were only one of very few tables being served. We shared our food. The gnocchi dish was extremely wonderful! Someone in the kitchen takes pride in what they do here. Oven-roasted tomatoes, still on the vine were the compliment. Even the stem was edible as we found out. Crispy and gourmet. The gnocchi themselves were smothered in sumptuous basil pesto and meshed in were a few green beans and mushrooms. The sable fish seemed poached, it was so soft and flakey, yet had a light breaded coat. It was served on a bed of white beans with some grapefruit thrown in. Sourdough rye with exotic light green olive oil had pink peppercorns ground in its center was on the house. We didn’t have anything else, because we are cheap, but ended up paying about $ 30 more than our gift certificate. Surprisingly little food, just two entrees, but we felt filled. The atmosphere, interior design and ambient lighting, with plenty of glass and angular place settings made me wonder who the architect might be. The ceilings are very high, maybe 18 feet. It feels roomy in there, and there is a good, soft glow. Another server, who brought our bread was so professional.

You know, for $ 100 I expected a bit more. My husband and I came here for Valentine’s Day. We have never gone out on a fancy valentines dinner before, so we figured what the hell. What we didn’t realize is that we were going to be in at $ 100 a head. My husband and I laughed and said«alright let’s do this» and looked at the menu. We started with the carpaccio, then I had gnocchi and he had a lobster ravioli, I had steak and he had lobster, then we had one of each dessert. I had a glass of Pinot Gris to go with dinner… the cheapest glass for $ 11. Ok, now I know it’s super fancy, I get it. But, the service wasn’t good. Our server never looked at us, he was constantly surveying the room. The food was good. $ 100 good? No. The carpaccio had too much salt — capers and balsamic, just too much. Texture was nice. The gnocchi wasn’t what I should’ve gone with. We are italian and my dad makes the best gnocchi. This gnocchi had mushrooms and a lot of truffle. Normally I love truffle, but this was a bit strong. My husband’s lobster ravioli was yummy! Our main dishes were awesome. The best steak I’ve ever had and his lobster was cooked to perfection. By the time dessert came we were both super full. We weren’t offered coffee, our server never asked me if I wanted another glass of wine, nothing. Very strange. We were definitely treated differently than the older couple next to us — but we aren’t super young! We are 30 year old professionals and we were ready to spend money on dinner. Unfortunately, it wasn’t an experience that will bring us back next time we are in Vancouver. We will stick with Coast or Black and Blue(both were booked out for Valentine’s Day).

The server was very attentive and the food was delicious. I had the truffle meatballs to start and it was delicious! I had the cioppino as the main. For some reason my friend’s cioppino had way more seafood than me. But it was still great, the flavor was spot on. The tiramisu was a bit strong? But my friend let me have some of her cheesecake that is in some croissant-like pastry and it was DELICIOUS. I believe you have to add $ 4 or something for it, but it’s worth it!

Consistency over the years is impressive. I enjoy knowing what I’m going to get. Solid food and service, nice surroundings. One of the few dine outs worth the trek out. Meatball starter was juicy and tasty. Pork chop main was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Pasta main was also good, but not memorable. Large portions for both entrees. Happy to see the phyllo wrapped white chocolate cheesecake as an option on the dine out menu. Slightly warmed, not too sweet, light and creamy. Tira miss dessert was nice too.

Nice atmosphere. Not a fan of the service. The sable fish had no flavour. Antipasto was great and so were the appetizers. I was not a fan of the bread and the service was very poor. Almost to the point of rude. Between the sub par food and not so hot service, I will not be back.

My girlfriend and I went to this restaurant for our first venue of Taste of Yaletown. This place is one of the high end Italian restaurant and I expected high grade service and food quality. First impression, old Italian venue like many simple décor like Cin Cin. On that night, we ordered a couple of dishes from the event menu: Caesar salad, the Soup, Salmon, Strozzpreti, Creame Brulee and Cheese Cake. The appetizers was a little disappointing. First, the salad was presented in a little old fashioned. Fresh whole romaine heart in the center with a prosciutto wrap grissini on the side and 2 whole un-pitted olives on either end of the dish. I found it’s a little simple for me and needs a little work to be a unique signature dish. As for the soup, which was not on the regular menu, was weird to be on the menu. The bean soup was salty and thick in texture that it suits more in Mexican restaurant. On the other hand, the entrées are surprisingly presented well. The Salmon dish was well presented. The acidity of the citrus sauce was great balance with the fish, which lightens the pallet with every bite. As for the Strozzpreti pasta, it was rich in favor, unique in taste and perfect cooked pasta. The tomato meat sauce was perfectly done, not too sweet or sour and you know its prepare fresh with every dish as you tasted it. Lastly, the desserts were artworks themselves. The Cheese Cake was great. The moist filo pastry with baked cheese created a great combo to my pallet and it’s really fulfilling in one of those winter nights As for the creame brulee, the filling was light and freshly, which was great after the rich and fulfill entrees. Overall, the food and the service were great. I will be back for a second seating, but I am only crave for their pasta though.

Was there the other night for a friend’s birthday. We had a large group so we ordered from a set menu. The appetizer and dessert were set but we were able to pick from a few options for our main. The food was pretty good and service was average until it came time to pay my bill. The bolognese(sp?) pasta at the start was very good. Not the best I’ve had but I would definitely recommend it. The entrée I chose was a prime rib, cooked medium-rare with a side of bacon smoked brussel sprouts and a celery purée. The side was incredible. I could have eaten that as an appetizer, entrée and dessert. Unfortunately, the prime rib was just meh. Cooked perfectly, but it was very bland and super fatty. The dessert was cheesecake wrapped in philo pastry. Points for creativity, but it was too rich for me and there wasn’t enough of what I think was a raspberry purée to offset the richness. Service wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great by any means. What really ruined the experience for me was when I went to settle up for my bill. I was in the washroom when he had distributed them so I just went up to him and asked to settle it up. He brought it up on his machine, ran my card and thanked me for tipping an «extra» 20%. When I asked what he meant, he mentioned there was an auto-gratuity, chuckled and said he wasn’t able to reverse it. I didn’t want to make a stink there and other people were waiting to pay with debit afterwards so I didn’t fuss about it. What pisses me off is that he didn’t offer to reimburse me with any of the cash payments he had received or nothing. I certainly don’t think he deserved a 38% tip. Overall, had an average experience topped off with a frustrating ending.

Recently, I dined at La Terrazza for Dine Out with a small group of friends. Our table was not ready at the time of our reservation, and we were directed to the bar. We were not offered water, and the bartender seemed to be avoiding making eye contact with us. We were led to our table in an adjacent room, which was nicely decorated but rather loud. The room we were seated in had a number of tables for 4 – 6 people; in addition to this, there is a main dining room with similar and smaller tables, and a separate dining room for large parties. It looks like a good location for large parties. Service was attentive once we were seated. As for the food, most of my party ordered from the Dine Out menu. For a starter, most of us had the mozzarella de Bufala appetizer, over cherry tomatoes with fresh herb salad. I enjoyed the tomatoes but was a bit disappointed with the dish as a whole, especially with a $ 5.88 supplement to the fixed price menu. The cheese was bland, in need of some seasoning, even just a pinch of pepper and salt, and I felt the«herb» salad was overly bitter. I noticed everyone at my table had pushed the greens to the side. One of my friends ordered the bruschetta trio(prawn, tapenade, and a third I can’t recall) which seemed to be well received. For the entrée, I ordered strozzapretti Bolognese with meat ragu. I enjoyed the sauce but the pasta was a bit overcooked, and the dish did not live up to my expectations given the menu price. One friend ordered the duck from the Dine Out menu(was good) and another ordered lobster served on a cheesy risotto cake, which she said was delicious. One of my friends ordered from the dinner menu, selecting the taglierini with truffle bison meatballs, wild mushrooms and parmigiano cream. She felt this was far too salty. Dessert was my favorite course. Two of us ordered the vanilla crème brûlée, which was rich and decadent but a bit too heavy for me; the other ordered cheesecake in phyllo which received a rave review. Oh, and the table bread smelled amazing, but didn’t taste as good as it smelled. Overall I liked the ambiance of the restaurant, though it was a bit louder than I’d liked, and thought the food was«good» but not anything special. Aside from the crème brûlée, these were dishes I could have easily made myself. I expect dining out, especially at more costly restaurants, to offer dishes whose quality and preparation I could not match at home.
