I had a great experience at this salon. I really liked the atmosphere and got a great service! I got a haircut I wanted and was really satisfied with it! If I will be back in Vancouver definitely will go back to this salon! And I would recommend it to my friends!

My relationship with a stylist never lasted very long until I met Rita 3 years ago. Since then I’ve only been going to her. We’ve gone thru a couple of hair colours, side to blunt to long centred then no bangs and some part changes during our wonderful relationship.
This salon is bright and clean and contemporary looking.
Doriana at the front desk is always smiling and friendly.

Scammer !!! They said the Concern-​straight is a semi-​permanent hair straightening technology and can last for 2 – 3 months. It actually turned to normal 26 hours after the treatment. Staff was unwilling to resolve my issue. They did not reply to my emails. I visited the place and the staff who talked to me asked me to contact another person so she did not have to deal with the problem. I feel that they think they are the best hair salon in town so they are very arrogant.
After that I searched for the products they used for this treatment and that product received extremely poor reviews on a very popular shopping site. There were about 40 one star reviews for that product. I searched for other hair salon websites which also use this product as hair straightening and they all advertised this product is not for semi-​permanent hair straightening, it could only produce a temporary effect. The main function of that product is for frizz reduction. However iDaburn website advertised it as a semi-​permanent hair straightening treatment, which is definitely a scam. As you can see the reviews filtered by Unilocal here, you can see this salon has a dishonest running business practice. Many reviews seem to be fake reviews written by friends of owner or staff.
I filed a complaint to Consumer Protection BC which is the very first time in my 30+ life to file a complaint to a government’s consumer board. The staff there invited them to join the mediation but they ignored. At the end the owner still blamed me of everything without feeling anything they did wrong. It sounded like he thought he was 100% right.
Unilocalers, please analyze what you have read above and what was filtered and not to rate this place as the best salon because of dominant effect. I understand some people would have bias towards something when many people say a business is good. It is very hard to give a one star to a hair salon but this place probably would be the only salon which receives one star from me.
Please note that almost all the five star reviews here mentioned the names of the hair stylists. Did you see the reviews of other hair salons also mentioned the names of hair stylists that often? Does it seem like these reviews were invited to write? Why this place is the only business I filed a complaint to Consumer Protection BC? Why so many reviews got filtered? Update on Dec 29: the owner contacted me and said they have not used that product for a long time and said I was lying. However, by the time I wrote this review, I checked their website and they still offered Concern-​straight. But I just checked their website a few minutes ago and look like they do not offer this service and product any more. I just want to clarify one thing. The incident happened over a year ago and I still have all the emails Consumer Protection BC sent to my personal email and the emails I sent to them. This is a true incident but not a recent incident.

I go to this salon because of BRANDON. You want a great haircut that grows out like you just got another haircut, then go see him. A Caucasian who knows how to cut asian hair. You show him a pic or two or three — he will combine the haircut into one and cut it according to the texture of your hair and the shape of your face. He has attention for detail and listens to what you want and need in a haircut. He is honest and will tell you if that cut won’t suit your type of hair. BRANDON is the BEST hairstylist!!! Go see him.

I followed my amazing stylist Bonnie to iDaburn, and am so pleased I did — not just because Bonnie has always been fantastic to work with, but because the salon is just great. Clean, comfortable, stylish, and affordable. What more can you really ask for? Oh yeah, a great hairstyle. You’ll get that, too.
When I lived in London, I got my hair done at Toni & Guy, and this salon immediately reminded me of a Toni & Guy experience — crisp white décor, minimalist stations for stylists, black robes for customers, separate stylists for hair and colour (although Bonnie does both), courteous front desk staff, beverages always offered, coats always hung up. The place is also immaculately clean, and open Sundays, which I really appreciate as I can’t take time off work during the week to go and get my hair cut. The online appointment booking and confirmation tool is also really helpful.
Now, to Bonnie. I cold-​called the last salon Bonnie worked in over two years ago, and was put in Bonnie’s capable hands, and it was love at first cut. Over the past two years I’ve grown my naturally almost-​black hair out long, dyed it blonde, pastel pink, had every shade of highlight you can imagine, gone dark purple, and now, to a pixie cut. Bonnie is always aware of trends (fashion, hair and makeup), and able to translate those trends to real-​life styles that work for real people. She’s adventurous but practical, a little bit rock n’ roll, a little bit high fashion, and while she’s always willing to roll with my whims, she’s also able to be the voice of reason and explain how and why certain things just won’t work for me, or will be damaging to my hair.
If you want to go blonde, Bonnie is the person for you. If you want to go short, Bonnie is the person for you. She’s done some of my boyfriends’ hair over the years as well and has real skill with that — although I’m warning future boyfriends now that I get to keep her in the breakup. I’ve also had her do makeup for special occasions as well as blowouts and have been so happy with the results. And she’s just a darn nice person, too.
I’ll also say that iDaburn carries exclusively Bumble and Bumble products — that stuff matters to some people. I personally hate Bumble and Bumble shampoos but have found some good styling products in their range.

After years of bleaching and cuts I was really hesitant to start coming here as the prices were much steeper than what I was used to. Surprisingly I now spend less money than ever. After needing to get my hair done every 2 months because of brassiness and awful roots I now only get my hair done every 4 – 6 months. They are all perfectionists which is amazing, especially Rita and Isabelle. The studio is warm, they offer tea, and lattes and best of all a rewards program! Nowhere is the city can you get bumble and bumble (pricey but so so worth it) and put points towards your next visit
An added plus, they now put up local art work (all for sale) which is such a great way to support the city and great because there are constantly new things to look at as your head is being gloriously massaged.

My husband & I have been there twice, both times with Rita, and I can’t say enough good things about her and the salon.
She was excellent both for the straightening treatment and the hair cuts, and also to suggest products for protecting and styling.
I love the fact that they use Bumble & Bumble products, this brand is amazing!
Overall, super satisfied and will keep going there for a long long time :-)

I followed my hairdresser, Mia, here from a different, closer salon because I love the haircuts she gives me. She’s very detailed, polite, and sweet! Mia encourages me to show her photos of the haircuts I want, and it’s been a good idea.
Even though iDaburn is further from home, it’s still close to the skytrain at Yaletown. The space is clean and airy!
(I do miss the Aveda products and tea.)

I’ve been a long time customer here, for at least five years. I’ve had perms, trims, major cuts, several scalp massages and been a product hair model at the salon.
My go-​to stylists are Rempel and Rita. I have been at their mercy manymanymany times when my hair has decided to take on a style of its own after a scorching summer aboard or a touque warranted winter. I don’t necessarily have fussy hair, but it seems to change drastically due to climate and grows really fast — it’s a force that can’t be tamed. But, the hair magicians that can make it look publicly appropriate are Rempel and Rita.
The salon really makes you feel at ease when you arrive. You’re usually asked if you’d like a refreshment and your jacket is hung up right away. The stylist always ask if there’s a vision or specific look you’re going for — and offers suggestions of their own. You’re then prepped for a wash and scalp massage.
If there is such a thing as heaven on earth — it’s in a chair getting scalp massaged by Rita. This woman has healing powers in her fingers, I swear. I just melt in that chair and could probably fall asleep and dream of fluffy pillows, rainbows and unicorns. All is right with the world when I’m in that chair.
Rempel has this amazing ability to make me forget she’s got super sharp scissors opening and closing close to my head. Conversation with her flows so easily and she has such a shining personality. I trust in her abilities so much that I could close my eyes and never peek in the mirror, and know that I would leave feeling the best form of prim and proper possible!
The salon offers competitive pricing and carry the bumble & bumble line.

Greatest compliment I can offer is repeat business. Every few months I head back here to have Sue cut my hair, and it’s always worked out.

If you’re looking for a salon that gives great customer service — you’re in the right place! They have an online chat on their site that is on during their business hours and I found it to be really convenient.
I saw a Molly for a cut and she was really sweet. I only really talk when I get along with someone, I don’t like the awkward small talk. We talked very little but I think it’s because of me — she tried haha. I was happy with my cut but I am not at all picky when it comes to hair cuts. I had a livingsocial voucher for the haircut.
I saw Rempel the same date for coloring — coloring I admit I am picky with. I have very dark brown hair that goes to the middle of my back. I have tons of gray hairs so I wanted my grays covered up and wanted to get purple peak-​a-​boo streaks. I was at the salon for 5 hours for this color. I think I was there for so long because Rempel was serving other people while I was sitting with my dye and such. The end product looked okay when I left, but when I got into work and told my co-​workers how much I had paid for the color they were astonished. Before tip my total came to $ 170.00 — She did my roots only, bleached some blond streaks (5 in total I think?) and covered them with purple. The purple was not noticeable, and there were many blond spots showing on my hair (specially at the roots). Long story short — I used their online chat and told them I was unhappy. Went in a couple days later — spent another 3 or 4 hours in the salon to get it fixed (no charge of course!) and am now happy with my purple peak-​a-​boo streaks! (even though I have to put semi-​perm color on it weekly to keep it bright, but I knew that was coming!).
Overall — I am satisfied with Rempel and Molly’s work and the salon was nice! They even have a room for you to change in when they get you to put a salon robe on.

Just an update to say this salon is still my favorite in the city — Rempel does WONDERS with my hair and I frequently get compliments on it. Plus they started a rewards program if you buy bumble & bumble product there — meaning after buying a couple of the big shampoos & conditioners I got a free hair powder!

I was greeted by friendly staff and offered tea so it started on a positive note but then it got worse. The sofa in the waiting area and the chairs are not very comfy and the salon was «running low on hot water» so my shampoo started with tepid water and ended up cold (my hair’s really shiny now which is cool but I was really hoping for a relaxing time for my bi-​annual trip to the hair salon). Even if it was a super busy Saturday afternoon, I was shocked that a hair salon (especially one that has such good reviews) wasn’t able to provide a top-​notch experience. I went there with a Livingsocial deal so I didn’t feel I was entitled to complain (that will teach me, next time I’ll pay full price…). Maybe they got too many customers from that Livingsocial ad and they can’t keep up, that’s too bad.
Haircut was ok but not «wow» enough to make me go back. I guess I caught them on a bad day.

I followed my hairdresser, Rempel, here from Rain, near granville island, and I can tell you this is the place to get your hair cut.
Besides the unlimited amazing things I can say about Rempel, the location is awesome. It’s super clean and huge and I love the industrial, yet streamline look of all the floor to ceiling mirrors and glass doors. They always offer me a complimentary drink when I come in, and everyone who works there is always very friendly.
But really, I think most people will get their hair cut in a cardboard box if the following things are right (which they are):
1) Price: For a woman’s hair cut with wash, cut, style, it’s definitely reasonable. I would say it’s slightly more expensive than some other places, but in my opinion, the look and feel of iDaburn is way better, and there is a price to pay for an awesome stylist.
2) Stylist: I cannot say enough good things about Rempel, and, seeing as she cuts the hair of many of my friends who also have tons of good things to say, how can you go wrong?
She’s super versatile: I was recommended to her by a girl with very tight ringlets, who raved about how great she was with curly hair. I have fine, straight hair, and she pulls magic with it to make it look styled, but not choppy or thin. My two closest girlfriends LOVE her (one with straight dyed hair, and one with thick wavy hair).
Also, she’s tentative to what you want. Nothing bothers me more than someone who is cutting your hair and takes three inches where you asked for one. Seriously?! It’s going to take forever for me to grow that out and make it look nice again, so I want it done right the first time. Great thing about Rempel? It’s always done right the first time, because she’s super talented and listens.
Lastly, she’s super easy to chat with, which I love, because nothing is more awkward that a dead silent hair cut. I mean, you’re staring at them working on your hair… conversation is a must, and Rempel is a rocking awesome conversationalist AND stylist.
In summation, unless you are a supercuts die-​hard, I highly highly suggest this salon, and Rempel.

I only tried this place because I got a groupon for a good price. It was good for the price I paid, but I don’t think it’s worth full price. Don’t get me wrong — they’re good, but nothing spectacular. I have to admit, I’m a bit harder to please because I don’t want anything outrageous or different — but I do want a really good haircut with style. I got an okay hair cut here, but only something I’d pay around $ 40 for.

She asked what I wanted… I said Mod Goth… what did I get… exactly that. She did a great job. Like the other poster said… I am constantly getting compliments… it’s even grown out really well. This chick knows hair. Let her do yours.

iDaburn is as good as it gets. I originally had Robyn cut my hair but she moved to Japan and she highly recommended Rempel to me. Those two will never disappoint!

The lovely Jane from Sugarbox recommended that I see the equally lovely Remple at iDaburn, so I popped in for a consultation.
As soon as I walked through the door, I felt a little intimidated by the complete floor-​to-​ceiling, wall-​to-​wall stylishness of the salon. Tall ceilings, lots of mirrors, bright, clean and very minimalist in the trendiest, but most positive way possible. Of course, as quickly as the intimidation swept over me, it was as if they took a broom and swept it away with all the leftover hair on the floor. This is mostly thanks to the guy working behind the front desk who very politely greeted me with a sincere, non-​judgmental smile. Remple was busy, but he booked me for a consultation a couple days later.
When I came in the for the consultation, I was greeted again with the same incredibly welcoming courtesy, offered a drink, and I didn’t need to wait long to finally meet the lovely Remple.
While it seems most might describe her as spunky-​funky-​awesome right off the bat (which is definitely true), the first thing I noticed was the most important thing I look for in a stylist: passion. Immediately, I could see that she loves her job and loves using her magical powers to make people look like mermaid-​unicorn-​goddesses. Of course, this is the look that I was trying to achieve and I’m sure if you wanted something more subtle than the outrageously vibrant purples/​pinks/​blues I got done, she could do it. And why am I so confident? Because she *listens*. Her dedication and honesty really came through when she spent 45 minutes in a consultation with me, taking the time to test my damaged hair to see what could be done to turn a previous hair salon’s mess-​up into something effin rad.
I was able to get an appointment with her one week later.
When I arrived, they made me feel right at home again and Remple and I picked up right where we left off. I really appreciated how she talked me through what she was going to do and checked in on how I was doing, all the while, not seeming fake or too chatty/​annoying as some hairstylists are. Conversation was pleasant, neither forced nor discouraged. (I’m the kind of person who really needs to feel some sort of click with the stylist –and the click was definitely there!)
…of course, I could go on and on about the «customer service» aspect of my experience, which was an 11 out of 10, but maybe I’ll move on to the quality.
I believe that Remple takes her time because she is a perfectionist. And I appreciate that so much. She was super duper thorough, making sure each and every strand had the attention it deserved and left no foil unturned. On top of that, I got a great run-​down of all the colours and products she used as well as quick cheats to finding the right colours around town for my own retouching at home. She’s very gentle and gives a damn good scalp massage. Overall, a true professional, incredibly informed and educated about what she’s doing and what a perk, an amazing person.
I can’t wait to go back!
Summary: I’ve never been more ecstatic about my hair in my life.
