Another bead shop on Granville Island. Not as extensive in terms of personal taste like at Beadworks, however, there is potential if you’re more into traditional bead work. For actual string and notions this is a good place, competitive pricing. Customer service has been either neutral or cold which is another reason why I tend to go to the other shop vs this one.

We booked a private class with Christie and we were delighted with her patience and flexibility with our group. I hadnt been to their shop on Granville Island before but I used to shop at their store on Richards. we loved their selection of beads and I think the prices are fantastic. They have definetly increased their stock of findings and tools which is great. I buy a lot of beads at trade shows and on line and I think they are as good or better quality than I have found anywhere. We will be going back again for more !

There are lots of beads, but you’re certainly paying the price. You have to buy a full string, so it’s good for bulk uses, but not if you’re just making one piece of jewellery. You should know what types of things you need beforehand because I didn’t find the staff very knowledgeable – and you should know what quality you want and what is an expected pay. Don’t accidentally pay for a string of rocks thinking they’re semi-precious stones. Kimdoly has a good selection but not the best bang for your buck.

Even though there are strings and strings of beads hanging all over the store, somehow I can never find what I really need. Granted, there is a large selection of gemstones but they did not carry other accessories such as a good selection of cords(I had to go elsewhere for that) or looms. Ironically, one of the staff recommended getting a loom but pointed me to another store on Granville Island. And perhaps more than that, most of the staff do not seem interested in helping you with your project(s). I feel that they’re just trying to make a sale and not actually crafters. It’s ok if you know exactly what you want or if you’re buying wholesale(I think the prices are little cheaper), but if you’re looking for advice or hoping to learn something about the beads you’re buying, I would go elsewhere.

I have a love for gemstones in such a way that I even took classes at the GIA so I could become a diamond grader and colored gem stone grader. While visiting Granville Island I happened to stumble upon this place. I love bead stores. I have a very healthy collection of gemstones and beads from when I made jewelry… and I still love to add to my collection. Upon entering, I saw a couple of girls at the counter — none bothered to look up. They were busy working on something. I got that. Even after a minute, none of them bothered to look up or greet me. Ok… Walked around and looked at their inventory. While abundant, it’s poor quality and not what I would put in my work pieces. Prices seemed a bit steep for some of the larger pieces with massive chips in some of the stones. I felt like their inventory had been battered around in a way that traveling inventory for trade shows do. The edges of the stones were scraped and worn down. They just looked like they had seen better days. Even the items in their cases looked like they had been carelessly tossed around. I’d say pass on this store and go to a trade show so you can get nicer, less expensive items that are in better shape than the stuff here.

Very rude and disrespectful staff. Poor wholesale policy. Average selection. For way better service, go elsewhere(everywhere else, in my opinion is better than this place.)

This is one of my favourite places to buy beads and findings for my jewelry making hobby. The staff is always so friendly and helpful; one of them even remembered me from when I used to shop at their old Richards St. location. The quality of the semi-precious stones and pearls is excellent, and the price is very reasonable. They also carry some raw precious stones. Most of the stock is set up to be purchased in bulk, which is perfect for me, but if you’re looking to buy singles of the beads you can’t. There are classes held here too, I believe. They also sell online, but I would definitely recommend going into the store and enjoying the sight of all the stones on display.
