Circle Craft

BUYER WARNING!!! This store does NOT stand by their merchandise. The woman at the counter told me that I should have done my research prior to shopping. I purchased a piece that fell apart within a month, they wanted to charge me money to ship the product back to the manufacturer, then charge me again for the repair.
The woman I was speaking with said she couldn’t send the item to get repaired, which really meant that she wouldn’t. She insisted that they weren’t liable for product defects due to the fact that they’re a co-​op and accepted zero responsibility for selling a defective item, citing again that I as the customer should have done my research prior to shopping. My response was that they have a moral obligation to inform their customers prior to purchase, this lack of courtesy to customers means that I will never shop there again.

Very meh, I really wanted to find some unique local piece to bring home but nothing caught my eye here.

I’ve already reviewed the fair itself, however, this is for the shop and the organization itself. They do sell a lot of local stuff of good quality. As an organization itself it is very cut throat and their judging makes no sense as to what their judging criteria is for who doesn’t and or does get into the holiday fair. I found over the years personally and from some friends that it is less about how good your craft is but who and what you know, the fair itself is obvious of that. I also feel that their most recent rule of rotating vendors a little hit and miss. As for the shop itself I do appreciate it as well as some of the staff but the politics is what is really hurting the scene.

Extra store for carrying all BC made products, as some stuff has name and city of designer, as per pic. Nice touch.
Mostly home ornaments and kitchen dishware like clay teapots and wooden dish sets.

The Circle Craft Company, had their craft show at the Old Vancouver Convention Centre this year — in a large space occupied by people and places of all sorts. I was quite impressed with this one, as many others I’ve been to in Vancouver are small and bare.
Circle Craft caters to people of all ages and budgets — there are earrings for $ 20 and $ 750, gifts and novelties ranging from generic to «what the…» something from everyone — clothing, kids stamps, plant holders, pretend fireplaces, hand crafted utensils and the list goes on. of course you cannot forget FOOD samples where you are probably provided with 50 types of chocolates and spreads that keep you going back for more.
To let your feet rest, there were glass blowing demonstrations and musical talents on various stages. Rows of chairs were lined up in front of different vendors for temporary resting or waiting for others while they browsed.
With the 2 — 1 deal happening on the nights of Wed — Fri, I was able to get in for half price and better yet — I had free re-​entry throughout the whole weekend to do more shopping! When it’s raining outside, what else is better than shopping in a huge convention centre!
I got some great stocking stuffers and although I wasn’t able to get all my Christmas gifts, I think it was a great way to get into the holiday season!

In the window of Circle Craft stood a stunning green satine silk gown with unique details and just a hint of whimsy. If this sight isn’t enough to get you through the doors of Circle Craft, I don’t know what is!
The beautiful fashion design is just the beginning of the Circle Craft co-​op, offering up, at any time, 200 local artisans works, for sale and show. You may be aware of Circle Craft for their November Christmas Craft Show at the Convention Centre in Vancouver and the store is also a showcase for many of the artists that you will find there. From pottery, fashion design, jewellery, sculpture, stonework and glass-​work from very talented local artisans, you are bound to find something new and interesting at Circle Craft. Currently, artist Michelle Matias’ «Things of Omen» pieces are showing and her unique and transfixing glass shard black ravens and felines are something to behold!

Circle Craft touts itself as Canada’s most successful cooperative. As a shopper, you’ll enjoy a variety of unique items made by talented artists and artisans. I was especially taken by the handcrafted brooms, the handmade bears, the beautiful pottery and the lovely hats and sweaters. If their Christmas Market is anything like their shop, I want to be there! It’ll be held from Nov 11 – 16 at the Vancouver Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Circle Craft, located in Granville Island’s Net Loft building, is a co-​operative shop and gallery that shows and sells works by featured artists. I loved the handmade «recycled fur» bears, made from vintage recycled fur coats. Each of these beautiful, special bears comes with a handwritten tag that explains what material and garment it was made of.
