I was at Granville Island a while ago and I saw this little JJ Bean place in the marketplace. I did try an espresso from them once(at the one in Woodward’s) and it tasted beautiful. So I figured why not get an iced latte. Though the price was a bit steep(almost $ 5 for a small), the taste and quality of it was far greater than that of McDonalds, Starbucks or just about any other franchise coffee chains. I would love to visit a JJ Bean again sometime if I’m craving for quality coffee.

A reliable coffee stand on Granville Island. This was my second attempt at buying a latte on the island. I received quick service and a wonderfully made latte here. The next time I want a cup of coffee in the area I’ll stop back in.

Generally, I’m more of a fan of Le Petit Ami and their coffee products but when in search of something cool on this hot day, Petit Ami was still offering apple cider! My search ended up leading me to JJ Bean, which if similar to their Commercial Drive location, would be pretty spectacular as well! The workers aren’t the most talkative or friendly but they’re incredibly efficient at moving a line through! I ordered an iced americano and it was cool, bitter(so they used a good amount of ice!), and I was out of there within 2 minutes flat.

Holy random JJ Bean. I was at Granville Island today, and it was a clear case of right place at the right time. I took a coffee to go and headed for the ferry. I usually get an espresso, or americano, and both are delicious. Their muffins are awesome, with blueberry oatmeal being a personal favorite. I used to think Starbucks was an excellent coffee place, and for coffee they’re still pretty good. But their food looks like it came from a vending machine. JJ Bean has BOTH good food and good coffee. Just a note that this location is extremely busy on weekends, and there is no dedicated seating. In this case, it’s better to take it to go.

I generally like their coffees, some good strong organic ones but the rating’s just for this specific location. Being in tourist land, maybe they thought seating area wasn’t needed as tourists should be milling about dropping $$ here. Well, there’s not space here anyways, more like a kiosk so don’t come here expecting a sit-down meeting/coffee date. Located right at the entrance – again my OK rating— so it’s super crowded as ppl coming and going. On the other side of my beloved donut shop, Lee’s ;)

I’ve been here a few times with my good friend Peta whenever we are in the area. They did mess up my drink and I don’t blame them. I did have a tall demand due to dietary and lifestyle restrictions, however, it is one of the few JJ beans that I’ve never received attitude from. I’ve been reminded to review this place ’cause my good friend Kenneth posted a review of the place today.

Had coffee here while walking around the market and my mocha wasn’t good compared to the coffee I had in the city.

Stopped by this place due to the high Unilocal reviews. I must say the coffee was just ok. I got a small Ethiopian — much better stuff than Starbucks or any of the chains. My biggest disappointment is that there seemed to be a bunch of grounds or something in the bottom of my cup that I didn’t notice until I was about ¾ done. I would have gone for a larger size if I had known this, as the small is quite small. Giving 4 stars for taste! Yirgacheffe is my favorite so I’m gLad this was available freshly brewed!

Delicious espresso! I’ve been here twice while visiting Granville market. It’s tucked away in a corner among the many fruit stands, so you have to look closely to find it! The prices are a little high, but other than that, I greatly enjoyed my coffee. Definitely a favourite of mine.

JJ Bean coffee is so smooth and aromatic. I love the Main st. location the best. Although 49th Parallel is pretty darn good too.

Really good espresso … Plus, you can’t beat Granville Island for a place to wander around and chill

I went here every day for my latte fix. You pay a bit more than a Starbucks in the USA but it was worth it. I liked it!

The coffee here was nothing special, though it is one of only two coffee shops(I think) in the whole market. The set-up is a little confusing in terms of where everything is and it’s a bit tucked away.

Art student baristas with glasses as big as half of their faces; zero seating options available; conveniently located next to a candy shoppe; the same(mostly, usually) JJ brew as I’ve come to expect from this local chain. A must stop whilst battling the tourist crowds on Granville Island, this JJ wins.

They make pretty solid lattes. Just before placing our orders, the cashier informed us that they currently had a 20-minute wait for their espresso drinks. I guess that is pretty telling about their drinks. This place is tucked at a corner inside the Granville Island Public Market. You literally just walk up to the counter, place your order, and then stand around and wait until the barista finally gets to making your order. Due to the popularity of JJ Bean and the number of people patiently waiting for their drinks, many of us were standing right in front of a florist vendor that is located right across from JJ Bean. Bless her for not shooing us away and blocking her beautiful flowers from her customers.

The original JJ Bean. Always satisfying my early Sunday morning coffee craving. I like that they rotate a single origin roast(usually a light medium) for their drip coffee, but would love it if they also had a dark roast brewed. The staff is always friendly, and manages the crazy every-growing line full of regulars and indecisive tourists

JJ Bean makes some great coffee and espresso. Sure, they are a local chain and may not have the cheer leading from the coffee elites who patron Elysian or Revolver. But, it consistently makes a great cup of java and staff is very friendly. This location is more like a market style booth with no bake goods. They just concentrate on making great coffee. So, this is the first place I’ll visit when doing a little sight seeing on Granville Island. The lines can be intimidating sometimes as it’s the only place to get coffee on the Island. But, the staff moves the line quickly. And you can chat with the tourist while waiting. A java enthusiast from Australia told me «you Canadians make good coffee just like we do down under». I said«thanks mate, I love your Foster’s, just as good as our Molson brew» Highly recommended as the first place to stop when going to Granville Island.

A must-do stop on trips to Granville Island. In the words of m6y 3yo ‘Daddy needs coffee’. ½ sweet hazelnut latte is the preference(with espresso JJ over Nero). They are also quite considerate of children’s palates with their hot chocolate — not too hot or sweet. Helpful efficient friendly staff Great FRESH beans to bring home & grind/brew. I am a big fan of the Estate Sumatra fresh ground for our bodum/frech press. Chocolate is the active subtaste. Admittedly, you are in the way of the very active exit/entrance doors when you are waiting for your drink to be made.

Easily one of the best lattes I’ve ever had in my life. I drink coffee like I’m dependent on it for survival. WHICH I AM. The espresso here is ground by hand, the way it used to be done everywhere, and it makes all the difference. My drink tasted like pure happiness. The prices are about the same as Starbucks, which doesn’t matter, because it’d still be worth it even if every drink cost ten bucks each. If you’re at the Granville Market and love coffee, and don’t end up going here, then you’re basically the stupidest person who’s ever lived.
