J. Crew has been my go to place for school, work and play since the late 90’s because it was affordable, high quality, and clothes never really goes out of style. Back then, I had to do mail orders through their catalogues. My first ever mail purchase was the University coat for 100 dollars. Now back to present day, J. Crew arrived in Vancouver rather late, maybe way too late, and now their prices are about double to triple or more for the same or similar J. Crew items that uses the same type of fabric such as 100% cotton or 100% wool. The men’s section reminds me of the Liquor store in NYC because it also sells third party brands that aren’t J. Crew labels, but made for J. Crew through collaborations by adding their own chosen colours or slightly tweaked designs. Personally, I am not a fan of collaborations because of the dramatic price increase for classic items shouldn’t be messed around at all, such as grey New Balances. Currently, the men’s section is quintessential Northeastern U. S Ivy League inspired fashion from heritage brands such as J. Press, Gant and Patagonia. Are most of J. Crew’s designs unique and original? No way! Classic? Yes.

Best place to get a really nice sweater for your mom on Christmas that is neutral, good quality and is timeless in style so that it lasts for years. I remember not being too impressed with the customer service at the time, however, I was focused on my mom at the time. For what it is the prices are very reasonable.

Woohoo for J. Crew! The story goes like this: I fell in love with a pair of perfect condition ruby red J. Crew flats that I purchased for $ 20 at a Value Village. They became the best pair of flats I have ever owned. Not knowing anything about J. Crew, I did a google search and found that their flats, similar to my thrift shop find, actually cost around $ 120. Fast forward to today when I was walking on Robson Street and spotted the store. I was kind of afraid to go in since it is a really nice store with higher-than-usual prices than what I am used to and I was worried I might be met with snobby service. I was totally wrong to judge. As I was standing in line wearing my rainboots, a heavy jacket and a scarf all I could think was, «I really need water.» As if the sales associate was in my head, she approached me and said, «The wait is going to be a few minutes. Would you like a water while you wait?!» SHUT. THE. FRONT. DOOR. They totally read customers’ minds you guys. Not only that, but they treat each of their customers exactly the same, from the greeting at the front door to the smiles from the associates offering to help you find a size. This is customer service done right. Tip: Check out the sales racks at the back of the store. I got a cute striped anchor shirt that was originally $ 56 marked down to $ 35.99 and reduced another 40% to $ 21.59.

This is a beautiful store with very friendly and helpful staff. I come here often, especially during the fall and winter to buy all my warm clothes. I have been a fan of J. Crew since 1996, when I was an international student in the USA. Fast forward many more years, in 2007 I started to buy much more from them via online. J. Crew has one of the best sizing from size 00 to 16 I believe. They also do petite and tall. Half sizes in shoes and odd shoe sizing such as a size 5 for people with tiny feet. Their color selection is incredible, for one style of merino or cashmere sweater, it comes in 14 different colours sometimes even more. I have to admit that the quality of the yarn and fabric was better in the past compred to anything produced after 2007, just like with many other clothing brands. The corduroy fabric for the pants for example was a lot thicker and more durable than what is offered now. However, despite the decline in its previous superb quality, I still remain a big fan of J. Crew simply because they still use a lot of natural fibres in their clothing, such as wool, merino wool, alpaca, mohair, cotton, viscose, rayon, silk, linen, and of course cashmere. I love colours and J. Crew offers such a lovely palette every season. As for customer service, they are fantastic. I have been offered free water bottles during my wait for the changing room. They do take great pride in their garments, anything defective will be taken back. Sales associates are very helpful when you place an online order or try to find the right size. Catalogs change every month, though not every single item will be a new one. They refer to their monthly catalogs as a style guide, one can copy some cute styles from its pages.

Been to the store a few times in the past but found the prices to be a little bit on the high side. That being said went in one day and found some really nice clothes that fit well priced well and best of all were tailored free of charge by Jesse who was super helpful.

One of my wardrobe staples are J. Crew cardigans. They’re soft, have a flattering fit, and come in a variety of pretty colors. I used to go to J. Crew and their outlet stores all the time when I lived in California, but had to rely on their catalogs when I moved back to Canada. I will admit I was super excited to find out that a J. Crew store opened up on Robson Street. The store is absolutely gorgeous. It has two levels; the main floor offers women’s clothing and accessories, while the upper floor has men’s clothing, handbags, and shoes. The store inventory is very similar to stores in Seattle and San Francisco, with a nice selection of cardigans, dresses, and business attire. I’m personally a huge fan of J. Crew jewelry and ballet flats, and their selection of both does not disappoint. I didn’t get to interact with the store staff, but they seem friendly and the store is very clean and organized. J. Crew is not a cheap clothing store, most items cost between $ 60 and $ 140, but the quality is amazing. I’ve had some of the same cardigans and ballet flats for years and they still look great. Unfortunately, the cost of clothing and shoes is ~$ 20 higher than you’d pay in the United States. This is probably a J. Crew thing(and clothing thing in general), but it was a bit disappointing, especially for their fantastic cashmere cardigans($ 208 in Canada instead of $ 178 in the USA). If you’re a fan of clothes from Banana Republic, I highly recommend you check out J. Crew.

Not for me. The store is nice. It is very clean, modern, and maybe a bit flashy. I can certainly see the appeal of this store to a lot of peeps, especially women. I think the price point for the stuff is similar to Banana, maybe a tad higher. I didn’t really care for the men’s stuff at all. It was bordering on an upscale American Eagle type of style — too college age. If I were a woman, I can see myself shopping here. The selection and styles appear to be better than what they had for men. They have one of those«floor greeters» — someone that says, «Hi!» to everyone as soon as you enter the store. The Gap used to do that. I’ll have to give the store another try, since this is day 2 from opening day. Maybe they will have more inventory.

I walk home from work every night along Robson Street. Apparently J. Crew is open now! It reminds me so much of Banana Republic, but I am always in need of office appropriate stylish clothes, so I am happy it is here. I was in a rush so I popped in for just a short visit. I picked up a top, a jacket and a dress to try on. Staff were rushing everywhere and seemed pretty nervous, like opening night jitters, or like they are being watched by a strict boss, ha ha. I have no idea what the deal is but the tension was palpable. The clothes are preppier in style than Banana if that is possible. but I like preppy so I totally went for the polka dots and stripes. Staff were very friendly. The tops fit great, the dress fit okay(I’m 5’10, so most shop dresses fit me short in the torso), the jacket was blah, better for a different body shape. And then I had to zip out of there. The prices are similar to Banana Republic and Club Monaco, both are my go-to sources for office wear.
