Very nice store. Found a few gems out front for $ 1. The store is very neat and records and CDs are in very good condition. Wish they had more $ 1 records. Everything inside the store was a bit Pricey and parking is metered on the street. The staff are super friendly.

I’ve only been here to buy concert tickets and all I can say is the customer service here is top notch. In retail in this day and age I find most places whether a food establishment or clothing store, customer service is non-existent…but not here. I came in to get some tickets for a concert the other day but the guy told me there were sold out then he told me I could try some other places that were on the poster and gave me a pen and paper to write them down. I also asked him about some of the venues and other concerts. Really friendly guy… really impressed!

It’s the only shop in town that carries lots of global music, and the staff have deep knowledge of it with great recommendations. I’ve gotten some excellent used finds here that were well below the cost elsewhere, while some newer world stuff might be a few dollars more but that’s Ok being it’s a specialty shop. Their vinyl selection isn’t always enormous, but well chosen Latin, African, jazz and rock. And it’s probably safe to say that whatever they do carry on vinyl is stuff that they’ve chosen because it sounds great on that format. I’d love to see a punch card loyalty system as some other shops have, but perhaps they gain a loyal following being so knowledgeable in global music to begin with. Hopefully this shop will be around for a long time because it’s my go-to for non-rock record recommendations especially.

It’s a small store that is well organized for what it is. Decent selection of new and used CD’s. Their vinyl section is more hit than miss, however, at least they have new releases. The guy at the til was super friendly. Prices are a bit dart board but liveable.

I really really really hope this place stays around. There should be 3 or 4 of this kind on every main street, but alas, there are not. Believe it or not there are still some people out there who like to peruse record shops, killing afternoons and taking home treasures worth hours upon hours of listening. AND, where else are you going to find those tickets to cheap shows at small venues??? Hmmm… not everyone’s a pirate…

Nice shop with a friendly staff but hardly any vintage records.

Small shop with an excellent selection of international music, folk and country. Tho owners’ definitely have a jones for their music and keep a good selection of «legacy» stuff along with the recent titles. An added bonus is the vinyl and used CDs they have; lots of hard-to-find things that have disappeared from the catelogs. Always worth the visit — just make sure you give yourself a budget when you walk through the door. Definitely not for too-cool-to-be-schooled hipsters; no «Li’l Wayne» in the racks.

Music stores are a dying breed since most people buy their tunes online these days. Fortunately, Highlife is alive and kicking. A lot of stores that sell CDs have everything but the kitchen sink in their bins, which makes it hard to weed through all the noise. Highlife has a well edited supply of CDs making it easy to discover some great artists. They also have some used CDs for sale. Shopping at Highlife reminds me of being in a cute little indy bookstore where the books are displayed in such a way that you just want to browse for hours.

Their large selection and friendly staff make this a great place to browser for new or old music to round out your collection. The workers here are all heavily into music so unlike some other places you can certainly talk music with them and get great recommendations on new acts that you may like. They’re also commonly selling tickets for a lot of the hottest indie acts in town.
