I have a hard time believing the good reviews on here. This bookstore is one of the worst I’ve been to. The books are pricey with no discount. It’s ok I guess that’s the norm for independent store. I have problem with their extremely rude customer service. They have a back section and there was no sign said authorized personel only. As in other places I thought there would be more books in the back so I went. The lady yelled at me and asked why the hell was I there. After I said sorry she stared rudely at me as if I just robbed her store. Do yourself a favor and go to chapters good deals and respectful customer service.

Ordered a book from Hager a couple days ago and went to pick it up… asked if there was a possibility of a discount from the owner and she gave me song long-winded excuse«we don’t give discounts because as you know the rent in kerrisdale is expensive and we don’t make a huge profit margin». the response was stupid and irrelevant to the question I was actually asking. A simple yes or no would have sufficed. I don’t care about how much your monthly expenses are. I’ll be shopping elsewhere next time.

We love Hager Books! I try to buy a book from them whenever I can since I don’t think the local shopping strip would feel the same, on an errands wander, without it. I love the helpful, friendly staff who don’t mind my toddler’s dash to the toy box in the corner. My older son now browses their kid lit section while I browse every section. This store is helping me to raise book lovers, which I appreciate. They have a good eye for new fiction and a well stocked cookbook section that always leaves me drooling. I’m almost surprised there’s no live-in cat to complete the picture!

This is a great bookshop with the best history, biography, and contemporary fiction sections(and selections) in town. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful. Your purchases also allow you to accumulate points for discounts on future purchases. I never miss a visit whenever I am in Kerrisdale.

Hager books is the perfect bookstore to browse on a rainy day. They’ve got a nice selection of books(Harry Potter trivia anyone?) and the store has a cozy, quaint ambiance, so what’s not to love? Only thing is there’s not much room to sit and relax because the store’s so small. :(

Hager Books is a cute little book store in Kerrisdale. It definitely has a different vibe that Chapters or any other giant book warehouse. It’s petite size gives it a romantic feel, more like you are in someone’s large study that is overflowing with books.
