Grunt Gallery is an artist-run non-profit centre. The focus is to exhibit work that might not otherwise have the opportunity to be shown and seen in Vancouver. They exhibit the work of Canadian and international artists, both emerging and more established. Grunt Gallery often hosts lectures and events. Most recently and in conjunction with Artists’ Legal Outreach, they held a series of workshops for ALO’s Art & the Olympics series, which discussed the Olympic and Paralympic Trademark Act and its impact on artists. As part of their mandate, Grunt Gallery develops initiatives centred on creating more opportunities for artists regardless of ethnicity, gender, medium, et al. As such, there is no clear or concise way to describe the works that are shown here. Maybe the best way to describe Grunt Gallery is to call it a work in progress – a work that is always changing and that is always interesting.
