Green’s Moving Solutions

I am writing this review while waiting for the movers to show up. I had scheduled a 10.00 am move and morning I get a call that they wont be showing up till 12.00 pm. It is 12.45 now and we are still waiting. Finally they arrived at 2.00 pm. They finished loading stuff from my home at 7 pm. This move is just turning to a nightmare, my poor 17 month old just standing in her small playard from morning 10 till evening 7pm when they just finished loading stuff into their truck and we have yet to reach our destination and unload stuff too.
I had booked our building elevator for a specified time slot and had to again change this at both the places, where I live and place where I got to move.
Finally they completed unloading our stuff at 9.30 pm.
This is by far the worst moving experience ever, especially when you are moving with a baby.

We used Greens Moving upon a recommendation from another mover we like who could not fit us in on the day we wanted. These guys were amazing, friendly, courteous, hardworking and efficient. All the things one wants in a moving company. Don’t hesitate, call these guys when you decide you are moving.

After I wrote my original Unilocal review, I was contacted by Michael, the owner of Green’s Moving. And since speaking to him, I decided I would need to update what I originally wrote as my experience with Green’s has turned positive after Michael reached out.
We had two pieces of furniture damaged in the move and Michael went out of his way to make sure we were compensated and that we went away feeling good in the transaction. His attention to keeping his customers happy is commendable and it is clear that he truly cares about his customers and business.

Moving is an expensive business, and since I was all by myself with no friends to help me I was forced to use a moving company. So I turned to Unilocal to help me find a reasonably priced and efficient moving company. Green’s moving company had pretty good reviews, and I thought I’d give them a try since they are a small local business. I booked my reservation about a week in advance, and they seemed to be pretty busy but were willing to accommodate me. I gave the specifics of my move to Matt (i.e. that I was moving out of a storage locker to a small two bedroom basement apartment of 600sqft that was approximately 30 minutes away from my locker). He said that a job like this takes approximate 3 – 5 hours, and I said ok that’s fine. He also explained that it is 100 $ an hour with an additional 100 $ travel fee.
I received the stipulations of the move after I booked them, but when we were on the phone Matt told me I could ignore most of it since I was moving from a storage locker and everything was packed and in one place. So I skimmed through the contract. BIG MISTAKE on my part. I didn’t realize that there is a three-​hour minimum for EVERY job. This means that you’ll be paying at least 416 $ for any move because of taxes, labor charges, and fees. This isn’t anywhere on the site, nor did Matt mention this when we spoke. The movers are guys that need extra cash during the month, and they were nice enough people, but not the most efficient guys. Plus they did drop a few things accidentally and leave behind some of their tools. They were also 6 minutes late meeting me at my locker and on my invoice they wrote that they were on time. I wouldn’t have cared but by the end I was pretty upset with the overall experience. My move took a little less than 2 hours to complete and I was super stoked at the end when I realized I thought I would be saving an extra 100 bucks. This was not the case. I was charged an extra 100 $ for being efficient and having my stuff together. I was pretty upset that this wasn’t explained to me on the phone prior to booking; otherwise I would have gone with a different company that didn’t have minimums since I was a relatively small move. At the end of the day this isn’t a bad company. I should have done better research and read the contract thoroughly. The owner has tried numerous times to make reparations.

After an absolutely ghastly moving experience this month with East Van Moving I feel compelled to send a shout out to Greens. They moved us last September and did a top notch job. 2 guys, 4 hours, all blanket and shrink wrapped, no damages and really nice guys.
My only regret is not getting on my game early enough this time around to book them again for the move to our new house.

Terrific movers — they arrived on time, were completely focused, and lovely guys as well. The estimate was bang on, and I loved that they only charge 1 hour travel time total, and bill per 15 minutes. I have recommended them to my friends and would definitely use them in the future.

I hired Greens to help me move from one storage locker to another. These guys are great! Matt and Frank showed up on time, were super friendly, professional and really efficient.
They were careful with my things, and packed everything into my new storage locker like pros… even considering things like earthquakes when putting away my precious box of Gran’s teacups (stored securely between a bunch of softer items).
They made what is generally an unpleasant experience quick and painless.
I would absolutely recommend Greens to anyone!

These guys were efficient, careful, and made the generally stressful task of changing homes super smooth. They were honest about estimated cost and timing up front, and the price was well-​worth the peace of mind.

So although a bit delayed, I would like to give my two cents on my moving experience with Greens.
They were awesome in so many ways! Showed up on time, got right to it and were super careful with all of my stuff. Couple of rad hippie boys who moves all my festival gear and were nice to work with.
Being part hoarder part collector as I am, they moved quickly and moved me in without any issues.
Biggest thing that was awesome about these guys… They moved the NEMESIS (their name for it not mine) My giant plate glass dining table. 7 feet long, 3 feet wide and heavy as F#@#!
Will gladly schedule my move to suit their availability again :) Although on that note, they did allow me to reschedule my moving day and were gracious and available without a problem.

While on vacation in NYC, we found out our new condo was going to be ready for us to move in 2 days after we were getting home. We contacted a few movers and after talking to Matt, booked Greens. He was very reassuring as we were pretty stressed about having to pack and move in 2 days! Due to some schedule changes with the builder, property management, etc, we had to change our move in time about 3 times. Matt took it in stride and never seemed to be upset. In the end, he had a scheduling conflict with our new move in date, and couldn’t move us, but I really wish it had worked out, he seems like he really cares about his clients

One word: WOW! I live in Calgary and was concerned about my parents moving and not being able to be there to help. I found Greens online, and from the very first contact my mom had with Matt, I was feeling better about things. I spoke with her several times throughout the day, and her and my dad had nothing but amazing, glowing words to say. They said it is so rare to meet people who are as genuine, polite, and just pleasant to be around. By the end of an eleven hour, emotional move, my mom was in tears, and part of it was her gratitude towards Matt and his crew. My parents are a bit older, and just could not have made it through the day if Matt and his guys weren’t as fantastic as they were. I’ll always be grateful for Matt and his guys for being there to look after my parents on what could have been a disastrous day. From the bottom of my heart, and from my parents, thank you for being so wonderful.

We used Green’s moving solutions for our residential move (2-​bedroom-​apartment) within Vancouver this year, and it was simply the smoothest experience ever. We had done most of the boxing and prep work ourselves, based on the advice given to us in advance by our movers, which helped a lot and saved us some money as well.
The move itself was fast and uncomplicated. The movers (Matt and his equally nice colleague whose name I unfortunately cannot remember) were nice, professional and a pleasure to deal with.

These fellas kick ass! I’ve now used them twice. Both were sort of out-​of-​town-​ish. Once into the burbs last year, and then this time when we moved back to Vancouver in June.
The first time I used Greens I found them by chance looking at a storage company’s site that suggested them. Since I had previously used another company recommended by a friend which sucked balls, I figured, I’d give a random place recommended by a company I’d never used. What hell, it’s only my prized possessions and things I can’t afford to replace right away, right?
Their website suggest filling out a form about how much stuff you have, and any details you can give about where you’re moving from and to, that might be helpful (flights of stairs, elevators etc). I took that to heart and gave them every last detail I could, to which Matt had said proved to be very helpful and was appreciative of how organized I was (A.K.A — Type-​A, OCD etc!). The first move I did with them he sent 2 guys — both were efficient, friendly super nice guys that took a lot of care with my stuff. The move came in under budget, which likely was because I had helped and had also moved some stuff to my lobby, but whatever, it cost me less!
The second move was coming back to Vancouver, and there was A LOT more stuff, and Matt suggested I use 3 guys, based on the info I gave him. I also asked for both the fellows that moved me last time, and fortunately one of them was available. It could have been a total nightmare move since the place we were moving from was this horrid big building with a massively long hallway a small elevator, and of course, someone else was moving the same day as us, even though I specifically chose a day that was before the end of the month so that was less likely to happen. In spite of these things, it went very smoothly, and while, yes, I was organized, it could have so easily gone bad. I was particularly stressed about my ginormous custom-​made leopard print couch that I was terrified would not fit into our new place, given the building is probably from the late 40’s early 50’s and sometimes those doorways aren’t so wide! But nope, a jostle here, a different turn there, a couple groans and it was in, no problem!
I can’t emphasize enough how top notch these guys are.
There is no way I’d ever consider using another moving company unless I was forced to. This time the move came in right on budget, which I was also happy with because there were a couple factors out of everyone’s control that could have made it a couple hundred bucks more. Thanks Matt, (whom actually helped move me this time), and Frank for making this move the least stressful it could have been.

I had no idea there were actual movers that could be so awesome. Matt & Dwight were cheerful and courteous and they took better care of our stuff than we could have. I moved some sensitive items the day before, not knowing how they would be treated by random people. I know now it was a precaution I need not have taken.
Nevermind the cost was way less than we were expecting. These guys made this the first awesome moving day I have ever had, to date.
If I ever move again, I won’t even look consider a different company.
