Had the most amazing steak last night. A group of 12 of us from Australia booked into a private room downstairs and were taken care of all night by a wonderful waiter who engaged so well with us all. We enjoyed wonderful steaks and sides. I enjoyed the rib steak while others said the fillet Mignon was superb. A great steakhouse to check out!

First time back in over a decade. Solid old school steak house. Love the deco and mood. Steak and lamb were perfectly cooked and seasoned. Service was ok. Long lags between dishes. Should have been better.

My wife and I went here for a special dinner out. The positives were that the restaurant décor was nice and the service was among the best that I have ever experienced. The food was good, but it was definitely equivalent to other fine dining in Vancouver. I did not care for how if you ordered a steak, you literally just received a steak with some parsley garnish. You had to order vegetables etc. separately and pay for them. They did not even give you any free bread with the meal. If I’m paying $ 300+ for a meal the least that they can do is serve some fresh bread with the meal. The clientele surprised me. There was a couple next to us speaking loudly in Chinese on their phones the entire dinner. I was surprised with their table manners(slurping food loudly etc.) There were also men coming into the restaurant in t-shirts and jeans. I understand that it is not the fault of the restaurant how their guests behave or dress, and it did not affect my rating a lot, but it did not make it a «fine dining» experience. I understand that the restaurant will likely not enforce a dress code or ask other patrons to be quiet because these people are evidently wealthy and bring business in. Unfortunately, the lack of inaction will cause me to take my business elsewhere in the future where we can have a quiet meal in peace when paying hundreds of dollars.

Had one of the most trying days of my life while on business here in Vancouver, and since it was also my birthday I decided to come to Gotham. I loved my experience. The interior is dim and romantic, good atmosphere for smaller parties and great for intimacy :) Our server was kindly attentive but never intrusive. I got the feeling that service is very professional overall with well trained staff who have good intuition. Started off with fresh oysters. They were absolutely succulent, one of the best. My dad had the market fish of the day which was salmon with beets and kale, and he said it was divine. My mom and sister both got filets, which were extraordinarily tender. 32 oz rib steak for me. Sublime flavor, caramelized just right on the outside with beautiful marbling. Absolute perfection. I’ll never forget this one. Finally our server came with a slice of their delicious Belgian chocolate cake for my birthday. Everything was perfect, thank you for this experience Gotham :’)

I came here for a birthday dinner for my boyfriend. It was both our first times here and I was very excited to see what the good reviews were about. We shared the porterhouse and shared a few sides and it was amazing! They cut the porterhouse the«english cut» and it was perfectly cut. I have never had steak taste so wonderful in my mouth. Before bringing my boyfriend here, he was hesitant because he was told by his friends that this place wasnt good. But I had proved him wrong! The service was really good and they make you feel important. When my boyfriend went to the washroom, one of the servers/bus boys took his hankerchief and refolded it. even though my boyfriend was coming right back. It’s the little things like that that really stand out! I would definitely come here again for special occasions as the price is quite high.

We arrived early on New Year’s eve. Took a seat in the back, the comfy chairs calling our names. Bliss. Total bliss. Every item on the set menu was a delight — a beauty of a steak, double lamb chops, aromatic creamy smooth mashed potatoes — all a sensory marvel. We left after our meal to continue with welcoming in the New Year in our own quiet way. I had only been to «events» at Gotham and did not have a high opinion. This sit-down on an extremely busy night has changed my mind. We will venture in again when we can enjoy the full menu. Only question — do we not have coat checks in Vancouver?

Whenever I travel somewhere, I have to eat at an upscale restaurant. Consulting my trusty Unilocal app, I found this place to be a good candidate. After ruling out all other options, my buddy and I decided on this place. We walked in and were seated on an upstairs booth. We were provided with drinks, and we got some cheese bread to start off. I ordered the steak and lobster dish. To drink, I had water and a double shot of espresso. The cheese bread was phenomenally delicious. It came in four pieces of a round bread, and the cheese was high quality and tasty. The steak was delicious, and so was the lobster. The espresso provided the much needed boost of energy. This is definitely a place to come and celebrate a milestone in life, or to take a date. I highly recommend this place.

Lovely classical, up-scale, Steak House. First off the service here is exceptional. These are career servers not weekenders — It’s service reminiscent of the best high-end restaurants in Europe(staff dress code too). The steaks are superb. The New York Strip here is one of the best I’ve ever had, served rare, it was melt in your mouth amazingness and seasoned perfectly(why are so many places afraid to season steak properly?). It’s 4 stars rather than 5 because of the price. Yes the food is delicious, but considering you’ll likely spend in the region of $ 150-$ 300 per person, there’s nothing on the menu that brings that extra touch of gourmet that the price tag suggests. The sides for example are pretty basic stuff(soggy cauliflower gratin is hardly the mark of excellence) — the menu needs more flair and invention to justify the price.

Always happy when I come here and food is always consistent and service is always good. Server is always attentive and thoughtful helping us pre-cut our porterhouse because we want to share and even though we only ordered the spiced mushroom gave us a few of the portobello mushroom fries to try just to see if we would like it. Tried the sticky toffee pudding for the first time it was absolutely delicious. Definitely recommend coming here whenever u want to treat yourself. I always get the porterhouse to share and it has never disappointed me!

Originally we wanted to go to Black & Blue but they just recently revamped their menu and removed the Tomahawk steak and luckily we found out that Gotham served it as well. Not 60oz but we were ok with a 48oz monstrous cut of steak. The ambiance of this restaurant was dark, romantic and quite elegant if you were seated upstairs. Lovely to be inside on such a rainy day. We weren’t fortunate enough to get a seat at the top floor but got a cozy corner. Our server was cheerful and overly excited about the menu items. All seems so perfect but why 2 stars? Well, here we go. Although the server is nice and courteous, it had it’s ups and downs and definitely came with a price. Whenever he says, «how about we start with.(some bread)», «let me replace that for you», it typically means whatever he gets you or replaces(sauces which got cold) will be added to your tab. At the start, we told him that we would order the tomahawk steak and wasn’t sure if we could finish the entire cut and was reluctant to order any appies or sides. He was trying to be understanding but was putting so much pressure on us to order something else other than our $ 148 steak which is a lot for 2 persons. I’d totally understand if we were a group of 4 and 6 and trying to eat off of a $ 148 steak alone. I ordered a cocktail with my meal and my partner didn’t want any alcohol for the night, we said about three times and the server still asks if he’d like to order something to drink. It starts to get really annoying at that point. We probably chatted for a bit while we nibble on the cheese toast that he forcefully made us order and our steak was near ready I suppose, so he came to our table to replace our forks and knives while our toast was still sitting on our plate. The toast was alright. The steak was ok. We had it medium rare plus which was cooked perfect but it wasn’t something I’d call spectacular. I also found that the fat and the gristle hard to chew, which is edible is the cutlery was better. We had the peppercorn sauce which didn’t taste like the peppercorn sauce we normally have so we add an order of Bearnaise sauce which didn’t go well with the steak. I’d say it’s better off with just salt and pepper. In the midst of enjoying our steak, the roof started leaking and rain came pouring over our table. It was literally raining outside and inside. We were shocked the table next to us were shocked and we were moved to another table. It made such a scene! This definitely dampened my mood and dining experience. We got apologies but no one mentioned anything about compensating for such a misfortune. Whilst we still try to enjoy the evening, we decided to get some desserts to lightened up our mood. We got the Belgian chocolate Bourbon Cake and the Vanilla Bean Crème Brulee. The chocolate cake was very chocolatey but seemed to crumble at the end. The little pump of white chocolate on the side was delicious. The strawberries were refreshing and helped cut the richness of cake, though not enough. We asked for more. The sugar coat of the crème brûlée was too thick and thus hard to crack. The crème base was smooth and delicious. The biscotti that came with the crème brûlée was dry and crumbly. It could have used a bit more almond flavor. At the end, they did mention that we’d get the desserts on the house and even then… all of the unnecessary add-on’s made our bill easily going over $ 200 exclude tip and tax. The food wasn’t great for the price we pay. I’ve had better for cheaper. I did not like the pressure of being forced to order items I did not want and when I’ve blatantly said many times. My partner didn’t want to offend them so had an extra Caesar and onion & mushroom side. I highly doubt I’d ever go here again… so 2.5 stars.

Would be a 2 star if the prices weren’t so ridiculous. Service was decent but not as good as Hy’s, Joe Fortes, or the old Morton’s. I get that it’s the server’s job to talk up the menu items but we had some pretty awful recommendations such as the Gotham hash brown potatoes. Just a dry, tough, and bland pancake of potatoes; you’ll get much better from any greasy spoon diner in town and they wouldn’t charge $ 11 for it either. The portobello mushroom fries were good but were lukewarm at best, cheese toast doesn’t even compare to Hy’s. While the appetizers and sides were meh, the main reason for the 1-star was the steak. We ordered several different steaks and none of them had the mouthwatering unforgettable taste that you’d expect from a world class steakhouse joint. Filet mignon(medium rare) well cooked with a perfect texture but it is a bland cut after all and a bit of sauce wouldn’t hurt. New York Strip also ordered medium rare was dry and overcooked, did not have the buttery flavor one should expect from a high quality cut with good marbling. We complained about this and how dry it was and the server told us that’s just how it’s supposed to be but offered to replace it with a rib steak instead. Rib steak, much juicier and actually served hot whereas our other steaks seemed like they had been sitting out for a while before they were brought to us. Bone-in New York strip, blander than I expected a bone-in to be and for something ordered medium(not medium rare, just medium) it sure was bloody(see picture). The dinner was well over $ 100 per person and we didn’t order any alcohol, but I wouldn’t have been impressed by the food even if it were half the price. Perhaps we just got unlucky and the quality of beef that day was subpar, but my first visit at Gotham’s will also be my last.

Made reservations on a Friday night, and our table was ready right when we got there. Our server was a gentleman named Jasper. This guy was super friendly, very helpful, and very pleasant. We didn’t know what type of wine to get, but Jasper recommended a clean and affordable Cab that went well with our meal. Kudos! A++ We shared the Porterhouse Steak(10⁄10), and asked them to slice it up for us. Absolutely delicious! We also ordered the Cheesy Bread. OMG This thing is orgasmic. I’m not a steak expert, but I’d compare it being just as good as the KEG. The KEG seems to be a little more trendy than this place(which has more of an old school/Mad Men/Classic steakhouse ambiance.) Restrooms were clean. Plenty of cabs around. Hostess’ were great upon our arrival and departure. Definitely gonna go here again.

My husband and I are definitely carnivore foodies. We very much enjoy a nice piece of steak. We have been so many other steakhouses(The Metropolitan Grill, Ruth’s Chris, Daniel’s Boilers, etc.) so we are very familiar with high quality beef. Being our one year wedding anniversary we wanted to enjoy a nice meal so we opted to try this restaurant out. PROS: Location: Very accessible. Located in the heart of downtown Vancouver. Plentiful of street parking around. Valet available. Ambiance: Very classy, upscale dining. The restaurant is quite large with two floors of seating. There is also the option of patio seating as well. Beautiful but simple decorations. The live classical music by the cocktail bar sets off a relaxing atmosphere. Great place for special occasions. Service: For the most part our waiter was good. He explained what the difference was between USDA prime and Alberta prime. Throughout our dinner, we felt pretty attended to but towards the end, as it started to get more busier I noticed that he wasn’t as attentive and sort of distant. It took a while for him to get our checks. Food: Excellent food. Bread and butter was given was a starter. We ordered the crab cake for our first course. For the main course, I ordered the steak and lobster. You can a choice between the filet(6 oz) or New York(8 oz). My husband ordered the 24 oz rib eye. We also ordered a side of fries and mashed potatoes. Probably the best crab cakes I’ve ever had! This is not your typical crab cake with fillings but it consists of chunks(not shredded) of crabs with light mayo to hold everything into place. My filet and lobster were exceptional. The lobster was perfectly cooked and presented nicely. I had ordered my steak medium but was given well done. My waiter immediately took it back to the kitchen and had them make me another one to my liking. Three minutes later, my steak came out perfectly. It was extremely flavorful, moist, juicy, a bit smokey and buttery. Everything that a good steak consists of. My husbands rib eye was also on point. It was cooked perfectly to medium rare. The marbling added such a nice taste to the meat. My husband is very picky with this steak but he very much enjoyed this one. The fries were hand cut and fresh. My mashed potatoes were very good right when it came out. It was creamy and buttery but as it started to cool down, it started tasting very crumbly. CONS: Price: Higher in price. Our one crab cake cost $ 19. My steak and lobster was around $ 65. My husband’s steak was about $ 64. Both the sides were around $ 10 each. Like I mentioned earlier, the service and mashed potatoes kinda died down in the end.

They serve ABSINTHE here, disclaimer and good tip for those, eager to try that. For my boyfriend’s 30th birthday we went here along with his brother. We reserved via phone and they were very accommodating. It’s in the heart of downtown so good location to begin with. I love the ambience, valet available, friendly service, amazing food. I would have given full stars if my steak was cooked the way i wanted it. I specifically asked for a medium well, and i got a well done instead so not too happy about that. It was a special dinner so we were really looking forward to be seated at the area nowhere near by the piano(as it was just too loud), but we weren’t we were placed close to it, and close to the bar! So that was disappointing too. Overall, prices are high and i have to say this is really good for a special night but phone in first and make sure you get the seats you want otherwise it can turn into a fiasco. ASFARAS I KNOW, In the US, they don’t serve Absinthe. Well, here they do. Those who doesn’t know, ABSINTHE is known too as the Green Fairy(well they said it was real, kind of saw fairies lol). This drink is particularly banned cause it says to turn children into criminals and encourage people to do murder and immoral acts.

The restaurant is easily accessible, located in the heart of downtown Vancouver on the corner of Seymour and Dunsmuir. Valet is available after 5pm and it’s also close to Granville and Vancouver City Centre skytrain stations. I contacted their team to make a reservation just the day before and they were able to accommodate the 6 of us, which was great! Our server Luca was awesome and very knowledgeable — he asked what kind of food we were looking to eat, suggested some popular menu items, and explained each cut of meat. Here at Gotham, the steaks are huge and don’t come with any sides but you can order extras for everyone to share family-style. That’s why the 6 of us decided we would just get 3 steaks and 3 extras to share. They also offered to cut the steaks for us so when they came out, they were all sliced nicely and placed in the middle of the table. We got 2 Porterhouse Steaks. This guy is massive! I would not be able to finish this by myself. The porterhouse is basically a bigger T-bone steak. The bone divides the beef into two different meats — the top loin is the New York strip steak, while the other side is tenderloin filet. The strip has a good amount of marbling and is fairly tender, though not as much as the tenderloin. The tenderloin was super tender! It doesn’t have as much flavour as the strip since it’s lower in fat but still very delicious. The steaks were seasoned very simply, with just kosher salt and pepper and a bit of canola oil so we could really taste the natural flavours of the beef. It was just amazing… you have to go here to try it for yourself. The porterhouse was definitely my favourite and the best steak I’ve had. :D I highly recommend getting this one for your first time here! Our third steak was the 24oz Bone-in Rib Steak. It comes in 2 sizes — 16oz and 24oz. This one has lots of marbling, making it very fatty but extremely flavourful. It was very moist and had the richest beef flavour. However, if you don’t like that much fat on your meat, I would order something else. So I guess the reviews were right! Gotham is hands-down the best steakhouse I’ve been to. The food was delicious, the service remarkable, and the ambience was fantastic with live music playing from the cocktail bar. It’s perfect for a classy night out. If you’re a carnivore looking for melt-in-your-mouth steaks and excellent service, this is the place for you! Just be prepared to open up your wallet because most good things come with a price: P

Have dined here before. All I can say is open up your wallet. The scent of grilled meat is enough to make your mouth water. But seriously, this is the bomb in fine dining steak houses. Started with the west coast chowder. Sautéed spinach in butter Broccoli ‚ The veg is all served aka carte and meant for sharing. Bone in strip-loin as the main. Amazing.

For my money, Gotham is the best steakhouse in Vancouver. Shrimp cocktail appetizer was great. Lobster bisque was decent. I had a surf and turf and it was excellent, although my steak was a bit on the small side(only a 9 oz NY Strip). Sides were great. Lynonnaise potatoes and mushrooms!

Came here for a firm event and we got the upstairs area all to ourself. The swirl stair case is quite interesting in this kind of restaurant and does make the décor quite stand out. The restaurant to me is very gold color in my mind. The food I have to say was quite delicious. had the steak sandwich. but its really a steak on a garlic toast. the steak was very tender and would definitely highly recommend the place. desert and the appies are good but not like WOW.(if you know what I mean) There is a parking lot across from the place so you don’t have to worry about parking as long as you pay. Sorry no free parking

I would have given this place 5 stars if they cooked my steak perfectly. But my steak was slightly overcooked so I docked them 1 star. You can tell the steak quality is really high here and the overall service is top notch too. The prices are high(~70 dollars) but in reality it’s not too bad because the cuts are larger(20−24oz) compared to the standard(12−16oz for 50 dollars). We got the porterhouse medium rare and i would say it was cooked medium or medium rare+. A true medium rare has a rare fleshy center but our steak came with a warm pink center. I didn’t mind it too much since the meat quality was high and therefore not tough even though it’s slightly overcooked. Also, «cooked» meat actually has a better flavor than raw anyways I guess. We got the cauliflower, mashed potatoes, and mushrooms. And as per usual at most steak houses the sides were«whatevers» Being from Los Angeles I would say Gotham is like the equivalent of Mastro’s. Highly recommended.

We dined at Gotham Steakhouse during our vacation in Vancouver. We decided to come to this steakhouse because 1. It’s name is Gotham(calling all my batman fans out there!!) and 2. Because it was my boyfriends birthday. When we pulled up there was valet parking available in front. Thank goodness, I did not want to go drive around looking for a place to park! However, valet parking cost $ 11~! The ambiance and décor is very intimate and the lighting is also dim. However I personally don’t care for the dim lighting so much cause it makes it difficult to take food pictures: P The Grub. [[ OYSTERROCKEFELLER $ 18.95 ]] Meh. The oyster rockefeller was alright. [[ PETITFILET $ 44.95 ]] The steak was good, I asked for mine to be medium rare. Cooked pretty decent, however I personally felt it was a little too burnt on the outside for my liking. [[ FILETMIGNON $ 65.95 ]] The filet mignon was good, but also a bit burn on the outside. [[ GOTHAMHASHBROWNS $ 10.95 ]] This were surprisingly amazing. That, or maybe I just like the simpler things: P [[ CREAMEDSPINACH $ 10.95 ]] Definitely a fan of the side dishes here. I thought this side dish was also very good :) Overall I wouldn’t say this is the best steakhouse I ever been to, but its definitely one of my top 10.
