If I could, I would give it negative stars. Not even complaining about the store’s décor nor the authenticity(or rather, the lack of…) at Go Go Curry House/Thai Food. The moment I enter the store, the air smelled of vinegar and other oily foods left out for hours. I thought oh what the heck, even if it wasn’t good, I should at least fill my stomach. BIGMISTAKE. This is the start of my woeful tale. I ordered a tom yum chicken noodle soup thinking it would at least be better than food court thai express, since it is cooked right away and this is a restaurant after all. WRONG. The soup was near tasteless by itself. To compensate for that? Overload it with spicy oil and vinegar. There was only sliced mushroom, pieces of chicken, and plain noodle floating around in the bowl of water+oil+vinegar. I though to myself, at least there was chicken. WRONGAGAIN. When I bit into the chicken, my mouth was violated by a strong odor of spoilt chicken. I could almost throw up. I couldn’t eat the rest of the contents, in fear of getting food poisoning, so I called the waitress to notify her about the chicken. She brings it back to the counter and I hear the other two chinese ladies talking loudly about the problem and bickering amongst themselves as if I couldn’t hear or understand them. It gets better from here… The lady whom I presume to be the lady boss, marched over under a guise of a polite smile and started rambling on about how this isn’t their problem because their chicken is always fresh and that I could even enter their kitchen to check it out.(a/n: Isn’t it a violation of food safety to let anyone into a resturant kitchen so easily?) Anyways, I told her that there is something strange about the taste of the chicken, like it wasn’t properly prepared(a/n: I have sharp tastebuds so I could definitely tell if something is wrong, even if they tried to cover it with the spicy soup). Her smile was starting to crack and started to reveal her annoyance and displeasure. She told me that nothing is wrong with their food and repeated how their chicken is fresh at least five times. She kept using the excuse that it was the soup that made the chicken taste different and that I wasn’t used to it. She even blamed it on me saying that«maybe I woke up on the wrong side of the bed and my taste buds are wonky today, thus not tasting their food properly». She was so focused on defending herself and pushing the responsibility to me that she didn’t bother apologizing nor proposing a solution until much later on during this confrontation. In the end, she decided that I could exchange my food for other foods on the menu,(a/n: I paid $ 13.xx for bowl of noodles, while the most expensive lunch combo was only $ 9.xx or something). I saw that her other foods were overcooked and left out for a long time, plus I can’t trust their store anymore because of this experience so I refused to order other foods(a/n: I mean, if the food I’ve seen are already so poorly prepared, how can I bear to subject myself to further torture?) I walked up to the cashier and let them know I didn’t want to exchange for another dish, and it would be appreciated if I could get my money back. The boss lady immediately started yelling at me how they will not return my money after«eating their food»(a/n: which was only a small bite, and that was revolting). I saw this coming, since ladies like her are notorious for this kind of attitude, so I told myself I’m paying them to learn a lesson instead. Moral of the story? Avoid Go Go Curry House/Thai Food like the plague. You will end up with no meal + no money + sick stomach.

I’ve been here a couple times. First I ordered the tofu veg stir fry to go. It was quite delicious and large portion and came with rice for under $ 10. I came back to get this again and was told it didn’t come with rice and so I ordered it and the total came to $ 15 for what I’m sure is the exact same dish. So confused! The other night I was craving Tom Yum soup and remembered this place. I ordered a large tom yum with chicken(they also have a shrimp option). The soup came and the broth was truly spicy and delicious but get this– all that was in the soup was chunks of chicken and mushrooms. No noodles, no other veg, not even a sprig of cilantro or a slice of onion. It was so weird! I wanted to say something but I felt bad for the lady and the cook who I assume is her husband– I mean the menu did say ‘chicken and mushroom’ I just expected more! I feel like this is a kind of mom and pop ‘we’re trying to do our best’ kind of place but unfortunately I don’t think I’ll be back it’s just too unreliable!

This place is almost better than by fav khai Thai! I have only ordered the yellow curry chicken and spring rolls and love them. Spring roll are big crunchy with a yummy plum sauce. You get a giant bowl of delicious yellow curry with loads of tender juicy chicken and a side of rice. It’s about the same price as everywhere else total was $ 25 I got it for take out. I recommend you try it.

Its not thai, its overpriced Chinese food. if you can even call it food. Waited over half an hour for what i thought would take 30 seconds(since everything was premade in front of you. but, Ordered a veg combo for 16 $ which unknowingly needed to be made in the kitchen… 35 minutes later, i received crap. The salad was just iceberg lettuce(seriously, not even a shred of carrot or anything else), the soup was. i dont even know what it was. and the vegetable stirfry… the whole dish prob cost them $ 3… it was terrible. Not worth the extensive wait. I had to get back to work, so after 15 minutes i asked how long it would take. they said it was just coming up(implying 2 – 3 minutes)… I had to wait another 20 minutes at which point i asked for a refund… as soon as I asked for the refund, my food was ready within 10 seconds. SUCHCRAP!

Somedays you just want lunch, you’re in a rush, you couldn’t careless about the ambience and really just need a quick bite, and refuse to settle down to the depths of McD’s. Go go curry house is your place on days like this. Don’t go here for tasteful art, lighting or an out-of-this-continent Thai experience. It is what it is, cheap and quick fast food Thai. Unlike Crystal’s, my friend and I had empty spring rolls that had but a few bean sprouts to call as stuffing. And the wontons in our soup(included with our meal) was overcooked and falling apart. The meal was, predictable and well, OK. Won’t be rushing back there, unless I was… in a rush and happened to need my Thai curry in go-go rush.

Medium-hot means spicy. Mild means spicy. Extra mild means spicy. Haven’t tried the spicy. I pick up a few dishes on the way home from time to time. The curries are tasty but a bit thin. Would be better if they were a little thicker & creamier I think. I wish places like this would stick to what they do best. And in the case of Go Go that would be the Thai dishes. The woman behind the counter is always very attentive and friendly & reminds me of Babu from Seinfeld. For some reason I’ve never been able to make them understand what I mean by «not too spicy please.» Now I just make sure I have lots of water, rice and Tums handy. Not the most appealing place to sit down though but if you want to support a small business and enjoy some tasty Thai takeout you should go go.

I went back this week to grab a quick dish of Yellow Chicken Curry and was not disappointed. This place might not be a high class restaurant but it is consistent with good food quality. Also I like the fresh coconut, cut open to drink the juice and/or eat the coconut with a spoon. Considering the price, location and food altogether I upgrade my previous review and give this restaurant 4 stars. Enjoy! Cheers S

For cheap-ish thai food in a diner-style hole in the wall, this place gets you fed relatively quickly. Granted, I’d never go out of my way to come here, but when a warm bowl of soup and a curry comes a calling, Go Go does the trick, in a way a food court can’t. The lunch combo I had with chicken red curry was okay. No zinging flavours or taste bud explosions, mind you, but there was plenty of food and all of it edible. The wonton soup(with 2 wontons) came first and was a little less than hot, but the broth was tasty. My red chicken curry had a decent amount of chicken and bamboo shoots but the sauce was really watery. And, not that I was counting on a «salad,» but a piece of ice burg lettuce, julienned, does not a salad make. Surprisingly the spring roll was fresh and stuffed with a decent amount of filling.

I have been to this place many times and love it. Every time I take away, so cannot comment on the service from the eat-in perspective. The proprietors are always polite and the wait is never too long, (it’s nice to be offered tea or water while I wait). I’ve tried most of the all-day combos, they are always taste terrific and are great value. You get plenty of food, often enough for lunch the next day. Gem for value and taste in downtown location.

A staple for my co-workers so have been a here a number of times. It’s fast and offers decent value but the quality is average at best. It’s a fusion of Chinese and Thai and after trying a few dishes, I’d stick with the curry. My recommendation is the chicken yellow curry lunch combo(see photos) with bamboo shoots. With the hit n’ miss egg rolls(crispy vs soggy), the bamboo shoots offer the much needed crunchy texture.

* Canadian Chinese style Thai food isn’t my thing * Combos with egg rolls and wonton soup at a Thai restaurant? Oy… Tried my standard test dish for Thai restaurants of beef ga prow(Beef with holy basil). What arrived in my Canadian Chinese style combo was a bowl of wonton soup(WTF!!!), a Chinese style egg roll, rice, and a beef with bell pepper dish that had a spring or two of sweet basil. The waitress had asked what heat level I wanted for the meal and I said hot. There was no noticeable chili at all. Oy… Don’t think I’ll be going back…

Fantastic place for tasty, burning hot Thai curry lunches(and others that are less hot). Great value lunch deals for $ 7-$ 12 including curry, rice, soup and other treats. Look out for me on Fridays.
