Specialties

We are a Belgian chocolate company that specializes in all natural Belgian Chocolate with no additive or preservatives. We have been making these delicious chocolates locally in Vancouver since the early 80’s. As of 2011 we have been making scrumptious French pastries as well. You can join us at any Daniel store in Vancouver to try them and have a great cup of coffee! We make all our pastries and desserts from scratch and they are baked fresh every morning at our factory location then delivered to all our stores.

My favourite place for Belgium chocolates. I love their signature boxed chocolates and I really enjoy most of their flavours. These locally made chocolates are very smooth tasting which melts in your mouth and they’re a nice change from the typical common Purdy’s chocolates.
I recommend buying the chocolates that are pre-​packaged in the boxes as they taste fresher for some reason. The chocolates that are sitting in the counter have a slightly less fresh taste, probably because it’s exposed to the outside air.
Do be aware that some of their chocolates contain alcohol, so they might not be appropriate for children.

It is more than a chocolate shop ! A friend took me there and it is a great little café. Their pastries are wonderful. They are fresh every day. They really remind me of France. I love the apricot custard danish. The coffee is great and as a bonus you always get a lovely stick of dark chocolate with it ! You can’t beat free chocolate with your coffee :-)

I must’ve passed this at least a dozen times but this was my first time seeing it. How could I have missed this? Was my chocolate radar just not working the half a dozen times I have been in the neighbourhood? My radar was fine today. In fact it was chocolate awesome. My radar was so awesome it noticed my instant love right away. Peanut butter and chocolate. Belly felt awesome after. Customer service was great.

Delicious chocolates and delicious pastries!!!
Daniel uses all natural locally ground flour, and mostly organic ingredients.
I wish they’d serve organic milk for their lattes. But their loose leaf tea is a nice replacement as well.
My favourite pastry is the raisin Danish and I’d highly recommend their macarons, made of natural sugars and natural colors. Nothing artificial!!!

The staff are take pride in their product. I asked if they use real chocolate in their hot chocolate and he looked at me almost crazy and said, «yes, of course we use real chocolate.» I love it. Its dark chocolate so keep that in mind. The chocolate twists are one of their pastries I’ve had before and it tastes just as good as I remember it. This time I tried the apple puff pastry and it is delicious.
Prices are affordable for the drink and pastries. $ 3.75 for a LG and $ 3.25 for the baked goods.

It always amazes me how businesses like this survive.
There’s no parking here. Only street parking filled up, likely with people working in this semi-​industrial location.
There is no bakery here, just an industrial chocolate shop. It’s easier to buy a box of chocolates on Granville island or at the mall.
I turned around and walked out without buying a thing. I would bet you can buy these chocolates anywhere in Vancouver.

Cute little chocolatier that I got to stop by in South Granville as I waited for the nearby theatre to open. They’ve got a ton of choices for chocolate here, and they are all delectable. The chocolates aren’t cheap, but they won’t kill your wallet which is great. They’ve also got quite a few pastries (I love their chocolate twist). If you purchase a drink, it comes with a free single piece of chocolate (awesome!).
The place is almost like a chocolatier-​café hybrid which is totally cool. It’s a cozy little place to sit down and enjoy a cup of coffee, or if you’re looking to pick up some amazing chocolates. Wouldn’t mind stopping by this place again the next time I’m in South Granville.

A long time ago I ve tasted Daniel le chocolate belge. There was a promotion fr Volkswagen when you bought a Volkswagen they would send you a box of chocolates as a gift. I didnt buy a VW but only test drove one but they sent me a box anyways. Well they were very delicious and all natural ingredients. No high fructose corn syrup like store bought chocolates. Say am I skirting the Unilocal guide lines. It was a gift but it was fr VW. not Daniels so im just reviewing the products & I love them little numbers :).

I’ve pass by this place a million times while shopping in South Granville and has been in my bookmark for ages. One beautiful afternoon of shopping I’ve decided to walk in. I didn’t know they had tables, I thought it was just a chocolate shop, more like a «chocolate café» my kind of place. I looked around a lot of yummy chocolate, gift sets and so on. But I was here for the baked goods, the almond croissant caught my eye as it always does for 3.75. I accompanied it with a small espresso.
The chocolate shop had a sweet lady working. She brought my espresso and almond croissant to my table, my espresso came with a piece of chocolate, sweet touch! The almond croissant was soooo good! Its big, topped with lots of almonds nice chewy outer layer and nice soft, not too sweet, but just the right amount of sweetness, if that makes sense? So if you want a break from shopping this is a great little chocolatier /​café.

Okay — I am just not drawn to this shop or the chocolates.
It is jam packed with chocolate that’s for sure but I am left underwhelmed. There is definitely a lot of love that goes into these but they don’t do it for me. They feel a bit too suburban for me — but to each his own, Daniel has a great following and chocolate is always a treat.

I was here for something warm to drink from the café part of the store which is a farily new addition to the store. It is a sorely needed place for coffee and nice pastries (or a great selection of exceptional chocolates if you wished) in the south Granville area.
First the prices are very reasonable. The hot chocolate was delicious and notable for not being too sweet. It was served with a piece of chocolate. I suppose it would seem obvious for me to tell you that it is made from melted Daniel chocolate but there is still too much powdery mix diluted with water in the world. The two of us shared a sizable cranberry nut brioche which had a small amount of slightly creamy filling which could have been a mild cheese. The brioche dough was delicious and the price was, like the hot chocolate, very reasonable. I picked up a few chocolates like my current favourite a dark chocolate covered caramel with sea salt on top. I will be back and not just for the chocolates!

Great place to check out for real Belgium chocolate. As a dark chocolate fan, I would occasionally drop by to pick up boxes for myself or to give out as gifts. Everything here is made fresh ingredients.
If you get a chance, be sure to check out the pastries — they are awesome! My favorite is the almond croissant.

If freshly baked baked goods and specially chocolate croissants transport you across the ocean to Paris even if for just a few minutes then you have to try Daniel Le Chocolate Belge. The atmosphere is very South Granville and by that I mean you can smell people’s money from half a mile away!
Having a big sweet tooth and having tried numerous chocolate croissants in our fair city, I would say this one is the winner. Plus the staff is really friendly and always have a few chocolate pieces at the cash that you can try, and they are one whole chocolate and not sliced in four pieces.

The samples are great. The milk chocolate is not very good. Purdy’s milk chocolate bar tastes much better. Some milk chocolate at Whole Foods or Choices is fair trade, similarly priced and tastes better. imho.

Truffles, truffles and more truffles is it the rich sensual taste or shape that makes them truffles? Try all of them and try them often. They sell small sampler 4 – 6 truffle boxes to take everywhere as gifts, I use chocolate as gifts when going out for dinner. I love the dark chocolate candied ginger.

Stopped in here while wandering around on Robson. The first thing you notice is the heavenly chocolate smell. The lady behind the counter was too nice and even put out new samples for us (hazelnut = love, in case you were wondering.) After looking through the case hungrily, I settled on a dark chocolate mint truffle. It’s not cheap, but it’s not insanity either… I paid under $ 2 for my truffle, but I’d gladly shell out for such delicious, melt-​in-​my-​mouth goodness. This is a case of quantity vs. quality – and in this case, quality definitely wins!

Awesome selection, great service… you can pick what you want and they charge you by weight or by box size… it’s chocolate not rocket science… there’s not much more I can tell you…
Have the Champagne Truffles, the White Chocolate Lemon and the Dark Chocolate Truffles… SOOOOO GOOOOODDDDD!!!
