Excellent late night food of the Cantonese Cha Chan Tang Style. Arrive after 9pm for the lunch menu, food plus drink is the usual. Many items to choose from, ranging from rice dishes to noodle dishes and desserts as well. Baked and stir fry, eastern and western. Busy after dark, seats can be hard to come by.

I’ve been coming here with family for years. Although some may complain about the service, you must understand that it is unfair to rate a HK-style café based on their service. What these types or restaurants are known for are speed, wide variety in their menu(seriously, they have everything you can think of), and bang-for-the-buck. Café Glouchester excels in all of the aforementioned areas. Other bonuses are that they stay open until the wee hours(have fixed my late night hunger on multiple occasions) and if you become a regular, they’ll know you personally. Definitely give them a try!

DONOT order their Spanish Fried Rice $ 19.99 — a few prawns, 3 mussels and some fish pieces, a whole lot of rice and imitation crab. Are you kidding me? Imitation crab. It was plain and no flavour at all. Very disappointed with this visit.

Frankly, there are not that many goto places in Vancouver if the sudden hunger hits you late in the evening, especially in the Vancouver West! I certainly will find an eatery that I know I won’t be disappointed(ie, delish, inexpensive with a decent ambiance). And Café Gloucester always comes to mind. CG has been around for years… mainly serving HK Style food & beverages, and some nice dessert as well. Reasons I rated CG so high is they closed late at midnight, lots of street parkings(after 10 pm is free) and they accept«plastics»(not cash only)…

Café Gloucester is one of my favourite Hong Kong-styled cafés in Vancouver. Every time I come back, me and my family go for either lunch or dinner. Today was no exception. With friendly staff and delicious food, it’s no wonder the atmosphere is always bustling. Today, we ordered four things: Soya Beef Fried Noodle; Baked Pork Chop with Curry Sauce with Rice; French Toast; and my favourite, Beef Brisket Fried Noodle. Soya Beef Fried Noodle is a typical order for Hong Kong-styled cafés and is pretty hard to mess up. Café Gloucester’s version was pretty standard as well. I found theirs to be less greasy and salty as other restaurant’s, which although I’m not quite used to, I definitely appreciate from the health perspective. Baked Pork Chop with Curry Sauce with Rice is a nice mix-up from the usual tomato sauce variety. I like both versions from Café Gloucester because they somehow are able to keep their pork chop nice and crispy despite the sauce, a feat not easily accomplished. The curry sauce this time was a nice change and wasn’t too spicy. I did find it a little bit greasier than a tomato sauce but I understand that this is due to the fact that you need to use oil to fry up the curry powder to enhance its flavour. French Toast was yummy! I loved that it’s made with kaya jam, something that’s often replaced with peanut butter nowadays. I would have liked it more if it was crispier on the outside, but it was good nonetheless. Now to my favourite dish — Beef Brisket Fried Noodles. This is another change up from your average Cantonese Fried Noodle. It still has the crispy base but with a different sauce — the stewed beef brisket sauce! I really love the combination. I found that the beef brisket to be soft and tender and the sauce was just right! Café Gloucester is definitely worth giving a try! Its busy ambience is reminiscent of a typical Hong Kong café, but cleaner and with nicer employees!

Hong Kong style diner that’s changed owners a few times in the last decade. I rarely go as I find it a bit pricey for this type of dining/food for breakfast. The lunch and dinner items are average. The good thing is they serve oatmeal, have a variety of congees and noodles, and you can order peanut butter and condensed milk toast separately, which comes with three pieces of toast. You can also choose white or wheat toast with your breakfast.

This is your typical HK café restaurant. Always busy. Serving comfort food. As any Chinese restaurant, don’t expect too much service. They are quick and efficient. In and out.

The first item on their feature menu that evening was a half lobster and steak combo for $ 43.99. No thanks. Instead, we opted for a ‘value-priced’ $ 9.99 beef brisket noodle soup, which was ok. We also tried their half creamy shrimp and half tomato shredded chicken on fried rice(really meh) and minced pork with melon on fried vermicelli(relatively good), both around $ 18. The place was packed at 6 so obviously people don’t mind paying above average prices for just average products. We do so it’s unlikely we’ll be here again anytime soon.

Pretty good spot for HK café food. A large variety of items and dishes on the menu ranging from fried noodles, soup noodles, rice, fried rice, sandwiches and larger entrees such as rack of lamb, grilled chicken, minute steak and fish. If you are just looking for a quick meal to fill you up without breaking the bank, Gloucester is a good option. I like how it isn’t like some other HK cafes in Vancouver where the interior can make you lose your appetite fast. I really enjoy the laksa hainsnese chicken!

Best Hong Kong style café in Vancouver. Delicious food. Both western and Chinese dishes are well prepared. Excellent service. Central location. I ordered a grill duck leg with free run chicken breasts. My DH ordered a tiger prawn stuffed portobello. Highly Recommended. Tips: this place gets very busy from 11 am to 2 pm. Good for a quick lunch. But if you want more room and more time, try the dinner time or even tea time.

This place is not bad. Its a HK Café place and its no different then any other HK Café place in Vancouver or Richmond. Price is a bit pricer than the Richmond one. I guess they can charge more because of its location. This place has been around for over 10 years. Its not super busy but the place is very well upkept. Its clean. I ordered a chicken steak with rice. It was pretty good. It comes with a hot drink. If you want it cold it cost an extra $ 1. But it is a bigger glass. I will definitely come back.

Still a very good hong kong café after many years of going here its still very good and I prefer it over Copa café. Their russian borsch is fantastic and their baked creamy rice/spaghetti is my favorite. Their taiwanese bread box is great except I can’t eat mussels. Their fried rice is always tasty, just a bit oily. Hong Kong tea is always super strong. Always busy but understandable, portions are huge and bigger than they used to be.

Haven’t eaten here in a long time and when I have, we usually call ahead and take it to go as it’s always really busy! Happened to know we would be in the area over the weekend, so called and placed the order without a problem. Nothing super special about it, but we do like the baked spaghetti bolognese. We made the mistake of ordering one each but found that one portion was enough to share! It’s definitely oily, but oh-so-satisfying! Top that with the lemon ice team and you’re good to go!

I had sudden craving for HK café food, so I came here with my friend today at 12:40. I was lucky finding a table during the busy lunch hour. My buddy got Baked Seafood Penne with Coconut sauce($ 9.99) and I got Baked Pork chop with Curry sauce($ 9.99) on Rice. She got free hot milk tea with food and I paid $ 1 extra for lemon iced tea. My iced lemon tea was so refreshing and good. Seafood Penne came right at expected time in 20 minutes and not sure why it took longer for my food. I think it took approximately 30 minutes at least. Felt turned off by the delay and the server even brought me a wrong dish. She got my food order mixed up with someone else’s. However I enjoyed my food since it was hot, fresh and delicious. Pork chop was crispy and tender. My friend enjoyed her food as well. As for overall rating, Gloucester tasted similar to other HK cafes in my personal opinion.

Good. Reliable. 2 – 3 $ higher than most other cafes. But also cleaner, more modern, more reliable, and better food than most cafes. Not my go to HK Café. But good enough.

For some reason the ambiance made me feel as though I was sitting in a retirement home dining area, not the best of ambiance. They have some traditional Chinese meals and some American dishes if you’re not that adventurous in getting outside the comfort zone. The American inspired dishes remind and taste me of the ones Knight and Day used to serve. Prices were decent, service was decent. Food was okay.

Café glochester is typical of a Hong Kong Café. It’s great great food at cheap prices and comes with a hot drink. Perfect for late night post sports eats or anytime snack. I always get the Portuguese baked coconut chicken rice cuz it’s the best thing on the menu. It’s rich, creamy, filled to the brim with toppings and there’s always enough for lunch the next day!

Hong Kong Café. Has a mix of traditional chinese dishes and Hong Kong style western dishes. Particularly enjoyed their HK style western dishes. HIGHLYRECOMMEND * Baked Pork Chop Rice — Deep fried juicy pork chops over fried rice with a sweet tangy tomato sauce. Really flavorful. * Spaghetti Bolognese — Simple spaghetti with bolognese sauce. Creamy, saucy and delicious. GOOD * Sizzling Plate Combo — veggies, sausage, pork chops, steak, fried chicken cutlet, and sunny side up egg all on one sizzling platter. Cool, good heap of protein. MEH * Ying Yang Fried Rice — Red sauce was solid, but their white sauce is a little off in the flavor and the crunchy cucumbers were a little offsetting.

I always judge a HK restaurant with one food item and one food item only… The Baked Pork Chop on Rice… That’s right folks. this is my «go to» dish every time i hit up a joint like this… And whats with the name?.. sounds like the person who was thinking up the name sneezed and the name stuck. I keed I keed. but seriously tho. i don’t get it… Ok back to their baked pork chop on rice… it was very good… pretty much the same as any other hk joint so i can’t complain… Their menu selection is pretty huge so u might need a minute to look at the menu. they also have a happy hour and some point in their hours of operation. great if you wanna save a buck or two: D service is friendly and pretty speedy with a table of 11 last time i was there: D Great place: D seriously… that name tho…

This is a typical HK café food place teeming w the staples and they are decent for the most part. Don’t expect stellar but just regular and you will e joy it. The service lacks friendliness and courtesy but they try to make it up in speed when they bring you the bill or pounce on cleaning up the table as you try to put your coat on, oh! Font try to be in their way! The noodles are not the best but their baked rice is good and so is the curry as well. Ill be back for my canto food fix plus parking in the area isn’t bad if you go later at night and you don’t mind their matching HK service.
