I’ve been here a few times to look at the more modern art. It is huge, a little too huge with very little art on the wall and merchandise(in ratio with the rest of the place). It’s in a very odd location. Unless you know it exists, no one can find it without being in the know. I appreciate that it showcases a lot of artists who create art that is up my ally. I appreciate the local focus and content.

The location was a little odd to have an art gallery, but it’s a great place to visit for several reasons. I like that the gallery hosts a lot of emerging and well known artists. I like the contemporary art shown. I have never been disappointed. The crowd mingling the gallery are super cool and the gallery hosts a lot of social events as well. Did I also mention that they serve alcohol inside and sometimes they have a DJ? How cool to mingle with people, have drinks and check out great works of art.

I’m not really sure on what criteria I should use to rate a gallery on Unilocal. I’m giving it 5 stars just based on the fact that — they are cool about hosting various non-arty events in it that serve alcohol — the art inside actually made my low-attention-span mind interested for more than the usual 2 seconds

This is considered to be one of the Lowbrow galleries in Vancouver. The closest you will get if you want a piece of LA art in Vancouver. The artist that are all shown in the gallery are local Vancourites, and they all have their own distinctive style. Many of the artist shown in the gallery do acrylic on canvas, acrylic on wood, or oil on wood and oil on canvas. There are some special artist who does the random sculptures, or interior design, or fashion for that matter. The opening nights of special exhibitions in the gallery is the best time to go as the artist will be present and you get a chance to see more people! Loving those nights! The director of the Ayden Gallery is a very nice guy! He is always cheerful and helpful to all local artist, and always searching for new art to be shown in the gallery!

The location may seem a little odd as it did for me, but it looks great on the inside. The fact that they have resident artists working right in the gallery is a wonderful touch. Also the fact that you can purchase mini and postcard versions of the art is neat seeing as not everyone can afford the originals of all the pieces they adore. One of the coolest galleries I’ve been to.

I was taken here and at first skeptical of its location in a mall. Coming from the US with a predisposed hatred for cookie cutter malls, I didn’t expect too much. As soon as I walked in I was extremely impressed with the art. I’m not an art critic nor do I pretend to know what’s «good» or «bad» but I know what I like and don’t like. I find mainstream art boring. Some modern art requires too much thinking or are just beyond my scope of understanding(ie large dot on the wall = art?) This place was definitely not mainstream and definitely not boring. It had a vibrancy to it. I liked a lot of the pieces that were being displayed. They were contemporary, unique, different… all the things I value in life. Interspersed among the pieces was clothing and jewelry. I tried on this fantastic sexy unique denim dress that would have been worth the high price tag… but it was not built for my body type. Such a shame. I’m still thinking about it a week later. I did get a great t-shirt & a tank top. The tank top was made of eco-friendly material which made the buy even easier. I look forward to wearing them both. This place offers more than just art. It’s seems more like an exhibition for local artistry in general. The people were friendly. We wanted to check out their Larger Than Life event but got too tired towards the end of the night to make it back. Their website is worth checking out. You can see what is currently being exhibited. As usual, it’s significantly better in person, bigger scale and up close & personal. If it looks in any way interesting, hit this place up. Definitely worth the trip.

We’ve bought a few pieces from this Gallery. They have some really neat, ‘out there’ stuff that is edgy, but not too much so that it’s not popular.

Unbeknownst to most Vancouver-ites, the Ayden Gallery is a Mecca of established and emerging talent, including artists and designers from all over the globe. I live close by and it took me a bit to realize that this place was even here, on the 2nd floor of Tinseltown, but now I stop in at every opportunity. I am truly obsessed with a massive painting of a wave and surfer and when my windfall comes in, its mine! In the mean time, Ayden offers amazing exhibits of a mass of artists and designers offering sculpture, paintings, sketches, clothing design and home accents. It wouldn’t take me long to clean this place out if I could, trust me! I adore everything about this gallery and people need to be exposed to the truly unique talents that are right under their noses.
