An incredible bakery, run by an extremely kind & hard-working family. My personal favorites are their various croissants & danishes, but everything I’ve tried has been fantastic. They bake everything fresh daily, which requires them to start prepping at 2am every single day… I come here for breakfast just about every morning, and couldn’t recommend this place more highly!

Still the BEST stollen in the city! Fresh baked breads and pastries are made with a deft hand. Friendly family business. A neighbourhood gem.

Great family bakery with tons of fresh goodies. My personal favourite is their cinnamon twist, which I’ve loved since I was a kid growing up in the area.

Fresh baked bread. The moment you walk in it smells good. They don’t have much in terms of actual sweet dessert type pastries, however, they have some interesting and hand crafted breads. Fair prices and good customer service.

Saw this place as I passed by and was pleasantly surprised. Their bread and pastries are beautifully made on site by lovely baker-owners. Highly recommended.

The couple who own this bakery, which they opened in 1996, are easily some of the hardest working people in the bread business. Their dedication to their bakery and their customers is exceptional. The husband, who was trained by Swiss and French master bakers, does all the baking and the wife manages the rest. The prices for their bread and sweets are very reasonable for any place in Vancouver and especially so given the quality. Their children have grown up before our(the customers) eyes and are often sitting at an inside table drawing. The danishes are excellent and my favourite bread types among many are Flax Seed and Farmer Rye. They make a tasty stolen at Christmas and hot cross buns at Easter. There is also French bread, a golden egg bread, croissants, a variety of rolls and a selection of coffee and cold drinks to go with your purchases.

We just threw the fresh bought bread, buns and scone into the freezer to be used only in emergencies, ie. when there is a snow storm in Vancouver and the streets are so slippery I can’t even walk to my grocery store. The plastic bag they came in weighed more then the scone, which by the way melted in your mouth because there wasn’t anything there. It was drier then the lint in my dryer. IFYOUWANTTOBUYREALBREADWALKDOWNTHESTREETTOTHEODDLYNAMEDTRANSYLVANIABAKERY. You need well developed muscles to carry their moist, warm, crunchy fire oven baked loaves. He told us to not cut when we got home because it had just come out of the oven(4:30 p.m.) but we couldn’t resist. Butter and honey was all it needed and a lovely cup of black tea on this rainy Sunday afternoon

Angus Bakery is most notable for its danishes, which come in about a non-baker’s-dozen of flavors. One morning I opted for a danish and coffee here in the small eating area. It’s close to a B-line stop and looks out onto a quiet(ish) section of Broadway. The lemon danish called my name, me remembering the last perfectly tangy and gooey citrus danish I had. I sat in the personality-devoid café area. The walls are unadorned and painted pale hospital green, there was no music, and I just couldn’t relax. I can’t recall the score I gave the danish, although I know if it had been amazing I’d have returned since. And I haven’t.

Upon returning to Vancouver, I’ve had a hankering for scones. Not just any scone, but the ones from Senses. To my shock and dismay, when I finally managed enough energy to make the trek downtown for one of Senses’ delicious savoury scones, it was closed! In its place, CONSTRUCTION! Since then, I’ve tried scone after scone. Downtown, the West End, Yaletown, Kits… and, finally, Angus Bakery and Café. Delightfully moist with just a hint of flavour, they crumble neatly into your mouth. The perfect early morning remedy.
