Our student population includes men and women of all ages, people trained in the skilled trades looking for certification, and new immigrants who need re-​certification at an Ontario trades school. Many newcomers to Canada are highly educated professionals that take our programs in order to obtain hands-​on experience and prepare for a Canadian certification.

Upon graduation, students are granted certificates that provide legal proof of the profession obtained.

Many contractors who have hired our graduates have given positive feedback on their skills and professionalism.

Our programs consist of 25% theory and 75% hands-​on training. Not only do we train our students in both the theory and practical aspect of the construction industry, but also we instill a great work ethic and safety awareness, which assists graduates with maintaining employment.

History

Established in 2001.

The York Construction Academy (YCA) opened in 2001 as a registered Private Career College under the Private Career Colleges Act, 2005. YCA provides a hands-​on learning experience for individuals pursuing a career in the construction and renovations industry. YCA provides pre-​apprenticeship training in carpentry, home renovation courses, and more! With a 93% employment rate, our construction programs have been developed to adequately train workers for entry-​level positions in the construction and renovations industry.
