The present home of the National Club was built in 1907, and is a designated historic site. Located in the heart of Toronto’s financial district, our beautifully maintained building provides an elegant yet comfortable setting for business and personal events.

We offer an impressive selection of well-appointed rooms and technical equipment to meet the needs of a range of private functions. Members can rely on our professional staff to ensure the success of their meetings or parties.

The National Club is normally open Monday to Friday, but we are happy to accommodate weddings and other special events on weekends.

Our History

The National Club was founded seven years after Confederation, as a home for the Canada First Party. Housed originally near the former site of the Toronto Stock Exchange, the club moved to our present home at 303 Bay Street in 1907. The National Club remains a favourite downtown meeting place for Canada’s business and political leaders.

I was invited as a guest of a member. It’s a beautiful historic place and the service is excellent. The food is very plain though, which surprised me. I had the lobster grilled cheese which was basically Wonder bread with plastic cheese and a bit of lobster. I think the members don’t go there for the food. It seems to be a networking hub. It gets 5 stars for architecture and 2 stars for food.

As the others mention, this place is so swanky it hurts (your wallet). I’m a member of a club with reciprocal privileges, so I dropped in here for drinks one evening with some friends. My friend’s beer came out to $ 13, after the mandatory 20% gratuity. On the plus side, all meals come with complimentary smoked potato chips and cashews, which are surprisingly delicious and refilled often.
A great server-to-patron ratio, but our waiter had a pretty chilly attitude, perhaps because I was a few decades younger than their typical clientele. The rooftop lounge is new, and quite nice — so if you can get in here, it might be worth swinging by to check out the scene. Mostly Bay Street bankers, but you’ll occasionally spot a local celebrity.
Cool fact: you can get in through Scotia Plaza by walking into a discreet brown wooden door on the basement floor, next to a panel of pay-phones. It feels pretty secret-spy like, so that alone is worth the experience.

Members only club with an initiation fee in the thousand$. I had the privilege to attend as a guest and as you might expect the service is exceptional. The venue is steeped in blue blood history and reeks of old money.
The wine list here is one of a kind, they’ve secured suppliers not available through LCBO channels.

You can only get into The National Club if you are a member or if you are invited. I have had the opportunity to check out this location in two occasions (that rhymes… locations, occasions, keeping it… real…). Anyway, the place offers exceptional service and great food in a very classy, upscale atmosphere. Great place for a company event or private function.

You can only get into this club if you are a member or know someone who is a member. In any case, I was invited for a retirement dinner of a friend. The venue is very well maintained & in the heart of the financial district. I’m a vegetarian so I had the «Root Wellington» (get it, instead of Beef Wellington?) which was done very well. The appetizer was an apple-squash soup which was also delicious. I didn’t eat much of dessert because I was stuffed, but it was a berry crumble pie with a small side scoop of raspberry sorbet & fresh fruit on the side as garnish. Service from the wait staff was very professional & pleasant. I can only mildly complain about the bartender who was a tall, unsmiling & grave looking lady. She looked at me like I was a strange creature, I can assume because I didn’t drink any alcohol like all the other dinner guests! The best was that the club is connected to the underground path so when on my way home I didn’t need to venture outside if I didn’t want to.
